"Yeah, my wife tried that..."
Every time I hear that line, my heart sinks.
that's the line that breaks me...
CINGE
It made me cry 😢
Because when his wife Adrian also had cancer and she did the treatments they didn’t work and made her condition worse and ended up dying afterwards! So that’s why I understand why rocky didn’t want to go through chemotherapy!
the way stallone almost broke down was brilliant acting.
He's so good here! The way he idly fumbles with his hat and the way his voice breaks ever so slightly when he says "My wife tried that..." is utterly devastating. We can just read the years of heartache across his face in just a few seconds, it's a powerful piece of acting.
Zach Macias it's not just that, I think it's a sign of relieve, with a hint of a painful memory. The reason I say that is because paulie, his wife and mick are gone. His son has gone off to be successful he figures what's left of his life.
It's also pretty amazing when he smiled slightly , it's like he has a sense of relief , trying to maintain his emotion
His acting abilities does not suprise me. I just hope he will give us more of that good stuff..
He tries to smiles first, then memory of Adrian comes. He takes off the hat as a form of respect as he tries to fight the memories and to not cry. And then the acceptance and relief "Ok, now it's my time to go"
It's freaking awesome acting. I really think he deserved the Oscar.
my wife tried that
damn this scene just breaks m heart. how on earth did Sylvester not get that Oscar is beyond me.
Inderjeet Samajdar honestly
that hit me too
Fighting cancer may just be Rocky's most difficult fight
audie bridge, and I'm sure, when the treatment was over. Rocky ended up kicking its ass too. Fuck cancer!
I think losing his wife and Mickey, was his most difficult fights.
Alejandro Gomez don't forget apollo and Paulie as well
A fight that few can ultimately win.
As rocky said before you me or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life....It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward....Well he took this hit too!
"Never cry. If you fight the tears, the audience will cry for you."
- Michael Caine was right. :'(
I was diagnosed with non Hodgkin's lymphoma Nov 1,2015. spine and brain. was paralyzed. went threw twenty rounds of chemo. now in remission and can walk and jog when they said I never couldn't again. crazy thing was I boxed all growing up and loved all the rocky movies. just seen this movie after getting out of the hospital. talk about hitting close to home. well done stallone
Great to hear that bro, keep going!
+Andy Sledge good for you man
I'm glad for you bro, could God always assist you.
Congrats and long life man! Way to fight!
Brad Smith Good stuff. Even though I don't know you, I'm glad you're still here. You're a soldier of a man bro.
If you've seen the other 6 Rocky movies this is the hardest scene to watch.
Fabisch Factor I only watched the first and 6th but this destroyed me
I gotta say the 2nd 1 was.
Because that 1 hit close to home.
i've never seen this movie but WOW this hit me like a tone of bricks
Fabisch Factor i wonder if Robert knows about this.
He was tired. He wanted to go be with Adrian
Greedy D
Can't, he has one more mission. Train his best friend's son to be a champion.
Dao Yang true that
Yeah, almost all his loved ones are gone. It was almost at the point of wanting to join them. Adonis gave him a reason to want to live.
Excatly! thats how Rocky feelt right there.
Stallone was robbed of an Oscar here. To see your MOST inspirational movie character stricken with an illness this was is so hard to see and the way this scene was played absolutely broke me.
Yup. That's why I think Golden Globes mean more than Oscars now.
How Sly stallone didn't get an oscar for this is straight up BS. This scene was heart wrenching
All politics!
Oscar’s is only about politics and crap! They gave will smith an Oscar by hitting someone which is definitely not the right way to do it! People lost respect for Will smith after what he did last year and unfortunately he was banned for 10 years
@@AWrapperShorts they need to change everything about the Oscars
@@Rollyboy141: I agree man but sadly that’s probably not gonna happen! I used to respect will smith but hitting someone just because they joke about your wife having a condition is not the way to handle things! I do give props to Chris rock for keeping his cool even after being assaulted! He wanted to press charges against will smith but he choose not to as he was so calm it wasn’t worth his time! For me Oscar’s is no longer enjoyable to watch.
I know right, I mean sure the 1st Rocky film did win BEST PICTURE what is a damn shame that the Oscar didn't give the best actor award for Sylvester Stallone
"My Wife Tried that"
Oh my goodness, that really hit me
Brian Chua that voice break ...
i get tears in my eyes each time i see this scene
Serious...can this guy not get a good break? First brain damage from Rocky IV, then going bankrupt in Rocky V, then Adrian having died by Rocky Balboa, Paulie since then, and now this...I've always felt so sympathetic for the guy ever since I was a kid, even knowing he's a fictional character.
TheThisguy1983 and in rocky 3 mickey dies, in rocky 1 and 2 he maybe had his best times
TheThisguy1983 u forgot Mick’s passing in Rocky 3.
Especially when he takes off his hat and says
"My wife tried that"
When she said "cancer", that brief moment of silence before the music comes in, truly heartbreaking. His coming to terms with the news, hitting not only him but the audience like a brick wall. Such a sad moment, you could hear people in the theater with runny noses lol. Such a great film!
The second “non-Hodgkins” left her mouth I was like “NOOOOO”
There's so much meaning to this scene.. he didn't want treatment, he's okay with dying, he's lost everyone Mickey, Paulie, and his wife. He just wanting to be with them again. He's okay with dying, it hit me so hard in the theater. It's hard not to cry.
This scene hit me hard. One of my closest friends lost his wife to cancer and he hasn't been the same since.
Sly got robbed of the Oscar!!! The academy should be ashamed of themselves. Best performance of his career. Well done Sly.
Always an underrated actor.
What really touches me is that Rocky although is devastated at what he's facing knows that Adrian is there for him at the end of the line and that's what he's wanted before Balboa. Rocky's life ended after Balboa, he had his final run to the distance in fighting and he lived out his days until he could see her again which is why he was 'ok with this'. As a nurse, I can tell you honestly that some people really are ready to die which honestly can be a beautiful thing, but only if you let it.
What? Ready to die is horrible. Nobody can prove life after death. That could be the end of all the beauty... Who wants that?
+honeystars1 I'm not a religious person, but I can understand the sentiment in those who are. Sometimes it's easier to just go out on your own terms.
"Ready to die is horrible."
No it fucking isnt. If you have had a long life, feel content, and are in pain, there is NOTHING wrong with being ready for the most natural part of life itself....death.
honeystars1 it’s not horrible at all. It’s actually the best way to die. Death is a natural part of life and it happens to everybody. The best thing you can do in life is to live to the fullest so you can die knowing you’ve done everything you’ve ever wanted in your life
James Lenin Dying of a curable illness is never a beautiful thing.
Screw the oscars. This is brilliant performance
Women cry for Rose/Jack
Men cry for Rocky
When he hears the diagnosis and he says "What's that do?" at 0:30 is what hit me because Rocky wasn't always the smartest and I knew what she was going to say next. He looked like he had some hope that it wasn't bad. Blissful ignorance. Then you can see it hit him once he understands. I cried the first time I saw this. Rocky changed my life and continues to do so.
I didn’t know what that meant either
The fact that Rocky is stunned when she says "Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma", and then says "It's okay, really." to her when he refuses chemo shows how much he's facing his mortality.
I mean he lost his mentor and father figure - Mickey to a heart attack, he saw his own friend and rival get beaten to death in front of him by a steroid taking Russian who just said "if he dies, he dies!", had his student turn on him and join with someone else because of jealousy and also had his son turn on him at the sign of him wanting to get back into the sport for one final fight all the way to losing his wife and his best friend/brother in law.
Also, would you blame him if he wanted to die? He can die a happy man now because he accomplished something he tried to with that bum in Rocky V - make a successful fighter.
XTheVideoGamerGirlX he went the distance , that's the main theme
XTheVideoGamerGirlX there's no point for him living anymore he also lost one of his turtles
My gosh! “Uhh…my wife tried that” shredded me apart!
I remember this movie as the 1st one that made me cry in theaters. Rocky's my hero and to see him like this....I just couldn't. This movie was phenomenal.
The scariest opponent Rocky has ever faced is one he can't see or punch...
True
Soul-crushing scene, so superbly acted.
This is the point in the movie where i broke
Got diagnosed with Hodgin Lymphoma. Stage 3. In chemo now. And guess what.
It aint how hard you can hit, its about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. That is how winning is done.
Keep fighting man.
I'm not even ashamed of crying over this...
Manliest tears in my life.
Incredible acting.
I understand how Rocko felt. He didn't want to continue living on without his wife and when he had cancer, he finally accepted the fact that he's going to die and join Adrian.
Yeah ... Stallone was robbed of his Oscar.
I bawled watching this scene in the theater. Grew up with Rocky as my hero.
Now see THIS is something people don't get anymore. Sometimes it's better to face death with dignity and self respect rather than grasp at straws trying to make yourself suffer longer.
Ariel Fetters yeah. it what is he showing Adonis..if he wants him to fight why won't he try to fight as well, even though he lost Adrian to it Rocky is a natural born fighter and he has the spirit that'd what drove Adonis
Ariel Fetters I’ll take a wild guess & say you’ve never suffered from cancer
Yeh, refuse treatment for a curable disease that is caught early. That would be a dumb decision and you wouldn't be playing the percentages.
Or maybe some people want to have time to say goodbye to their loved ones
You know people my mother had cancer and she had to take cameo therapy 6 or 7 times because my mom was a fighter and then next thing you know she died in the hospital....I relate to Rocky and Adrian..
i am so sorry for this brother. does chemotherapy not work:/
Sometimes.
It rarely works. My mom has early stage breast cancer and she is not doing chemo at all. We've watched too many friends that have had cancer that died from the chemo alone.
+markos ferede yeah my first cousin (like an uncle to me) died of cancer just this summer. I thought he'd pull through. What hurts the most is that I didn't see him up until his death. Shocking...
+bang shot the problem with chemo is that the drugs cannot tell the difference between cancer cells and cells that the body may need. It simply targets any quickly-replicating cells. That's why chemo-recipients almost always lose their hair.
When he speaks of adrian it’s so sad...
phenomenal acting from Stallone
How can he be so calm about being told he had cancer? If it would've been me I would've flipped out!
At this point in his life, Rocky is just tired. He’s lost everyone he’s loved, and in this moment he wasn’t thinking about the fact that he has Adonis now. He’s ready to just join his wife.
@@everettking1612 I guess that makes sense.
All Rocky movies great🤗
This was a very strong scene about rockoo learning about his cancer
great movie creed and i have all the anthology dvds of all rocky movies and I'm 59yrs old.
After growing up watching all of the Rocky movies, this scene tears me up everytime....
Because Stallone makes action movies, they don’t give him credit for his emotional range! 🥺This scene hits hard!
At least it wasn't his prostate. See what I did there?
The movie itself, to me, was indifferent, but his performance was amazing. With the passing of time, Sly has become a very good actor.
he was always a good actor....
Λαυρέντιος Ψαροκάηκας this movie had so many standout moment
??? The movie is great
0:55 - he's looking to us...
we all people who know how terrible is that disease..., well, to me this part makes me recall something that touches certain feelings and I broke..
Rocky had already led a full life he achieved his dream he fell in love became a father maybe grandfather by now I think he decided it was his time and he wanted to join
Jericho Freman he has one more mission and that's Adonis
Such great acting.
Everytime i see this scene it feels someone is pulling my heartstrings.
This scene i will crying 😢
that scene did hit so hard...
this scene hit me so hard
This part of the film, I almost felt broken. Cause Rocky has fought alot in his life, especially the deaths dearest to him. But what hurts the most is that he was about to give up/quit.....Rocky taught many of us that life is hard but we must fight it and keep moving forward.
Grande Stallone
Grande Rocky
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
#Legend
"Yeah. My wife tried that. No. It's ok"
Wish ya would've included the bit where Rock gives advice to Donny about paying attention to yourself first... that tugs on the ol strings too.
Good acting by sylvester stallone
Feel like this movie takes somewhat after Warrior (2011) when it comes to filming these emotional pieces. The music and camerawork reminds me of it.
As soon as she told him he looked like he was just done with everything
did you see his eyes when he said: "my wife tried that."
I cried
my father had lymphoma and just recently won his bout.
My grandma passed away last November to cancer, not easy watching a family member go thru chemo and I can't even imagine going thru it first hand
When Rocky hurts, I hurt.
I had the exact same cancer wen I was 5 and had two and half years worth of treatment to get rid of it so sad to c it happen to rocky
If they kill him in creed 2 I literally will never recover
The single best scene by Sly...
Good acting Sylvester Stallone
This scene pissed me off so much, like bro you're fuckin rocky!!!! Put the bullshit aside and fix this!!!! 😢😢😥 and this scene also made me cry, good acting..
Yes
it's gonna be sad when Rocky dies I grew up on his movies
Fuuuuuuck...
heart-breaking.
I love Selvester Stallone he is a great actor and I also love rocky my fav movies I would do anything to meet Sylvester Stallone
Its very sad. But he will see adrian again. But still sad.
Rocky's face like come on you got to be kidding me.
This is so sad
He was in a hurry to be with Adrian.
This scene hit me in the damn gut in the theater...I held my breath for a couple seconds and then started panting. I saw my entire childhood die in a matter of seconds
When the first Rocky hit, Stallone was being talked about as the next Brando.
This scene shows how he really could have been.
This was so fucking devastating to me, because I’ve watched Rocky since I was 4 years old..
That was my fear when my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her doing chemotherapy and it didn't work. But luckily, she's doing good
Let me tell you from experience. There is nothing...NOTHING more life shattering than seeing someone you love fight cancer with everything they have...and still lose. Adrian would have suffered greatly for nothing and Rocky's lasting memory of her would be pain and misery and then watching her rapidly waste away and die while at her side.
large B cell lymphoma: BCL6 positive, high incidence in the immuno suppressed especially EBV in HIV patients, 80% remission with treatment. I'm studying for my path test and I thought of this scene.
0.55 camera stare!
Midispiace pet tua salute
Damn, this is a sad scene if you watched all the other 6 rocky movies
This was so hard to watch
I think this is Sly of saying hey Rocky is human.
Why didn't win the Oscar? that could be the great end of the Rocky series
Juan HERNANDEZ He won the golden globe
At the end.. There is a song. Whats the name of it?
00:38
THAT is what defeat feels like
It actually sucks cuz that’s the exact same cancer I had in 2020
"you taught me how to fight again and i gonna go home and fight this thing but if i fight i want you to fight too. i want you to go across this ring and knock that son of bitch down"
Itz-nhat-a-tu-mhur!!!
Clovis de Cruz this isn't arnold
Loving somebody the way Rocky Loved Adrian has died out. (My wife tried that. Killed me). Just knowing that Adrian (It's always been you and me) is there for him at the end of the line. He fought to have a better life, to provide for Adrian and son (I want you to have good things. I want the kid to have good things) He did all of that and now all of them... Adrian and Paulie is dead, and Robert is successful and had left him. He has been fighting all his life and is tired. He lived out his days until he could see Adrian again which is why he was "I'm Okay with it, really" (I'm ready to die and be with my wife now). This kind of love is gone. Here he also inspires us that this kind of Love still exist if you truly Love.
So rocky wants to die and meet his friends and families in heaven?
Why didn't he win an oscar for this film again?
0:55 Sly looked at the camera! Would have been that in porpuse?
i Was just thinking about that! maybe....
Yeah! Probably it is like of talking to audiences!
its not an accident for sure...a pro actor would never look at the camera, never if its not for a reason....
he is saying GOOD BYE to us!
Nicolás Cardona is a bitch
How do you handle getting told you have cancer
