immediately hooked, this actors adaptation is phenomenal - authentic and sympathetic ☺️☺️finally found a version of hamlet i like - still always open to see adaptations of this play, drop suggestions if you like! or of any plays actually 😃😄
I miss when Hamlet holds the skull of Yorrick and he says I knew him Haratio. A man with jest..etc! But Adrian Lester is a great performer of Hamlet! The interpretation of Peter Brook is so to the point by making Hamlet the centre of the story!
It is very strange that they cut the Yorick scene, especially since it was one of the most famous photographs from this theatre production... I can't understand why they cut it from the film version...
Alas, poor Yorick. He got cut from this production, Horatio. A fellow of conspicuous absence... Seriously though, what a strange decision to leave that of all passages out.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was lucky enough to check out a copy from my university's library, but all purchaseable copies I could find were a couple hundred dollars
This production made no sense to me. The order of the scenes has been changed. It lacks the brooding atmosphere of the play's beginning and instead begins with Hamlet's first monologue without establishing any context for Hamlet's depression. The ghost reveals himself to Hamlet and divulges Claudius' plot before the first court scene, again screwing up the motivations of the characters and the narrative flow.
So much of the text is cut away (which I suspected when I saw the time length); still, the actor playing Prince Hamlet is quite good and the overall show is certainly watchable, especially if you are unfamiliar with the complete work. It would make a nice introduction to the play for a novice.
I just love Peter Brook, these actors and the play Hamlet... but this production is so sleepy. All the characters/actors seem to be moving through this slow paced, whispering durge. Why? Where's the energy.
9outof10 Yeah, I know what you mean. What went wrong? It’s so drunk on its own cross-legged “Zen-ness” it’s rendered completely without power. Bizarre.
Podría ser en Inglés también. Pero correctos. Osea Peter Brook es un director que hay que estudiar, y esta particular representación de Hamlet la fotografió Ricardo Aronovich, que es un director de fotografia que hay que estudiar.

I am such a fan of the version.
Bruce Meyer's take on Polonius is *genius*!!

non conosco una sola parola della lingua inglese, però mi pare di comprendere ogni cosa, tant'è straordinario questo Amleto.

Very powerful! Apart from missing out. Alas poor Yorik - I knew him Horatio!

this is the worst hamlet ever!
the actor playing hamlet is good but all the others are bloody bad, bad!
wrong direction, wrong acting.
Wrong direction? Wrong acting? "Wrong" compared to WHAT if I may ask?
Compared to other directions and actings.
this black Hamlet what a bad actor, just mumbling the text, no thinking, no feeling
You are wrong.
Wow, you had to point out he was black. Why couldn’t you just say “The actor playing Hamlet...”?
