Bro, and after having done the ignition coils and spark plugs on an '09 xt. It gets me every time. Some people were born to work on Subarus...... sadly....
For real! I've rebuilt my Cobb stage3 03 WRX 7 times, currently building an 02 WRX I just picked up. I love Subaru's but it sucks I'm 6'8 with sausages for fingers. LMAO.
Afternoon, I’m going to be trying this job with my 2007 outback 2.5. Hopefully this will work with the car on ramps. I’m going to cut about 5 - 8 inch planks of wood and give it a shot. Engine thumps when cranking over so I believe the mounts are going bad.
Hey this is a great diy video. You did a really good job explaining everything with swapping motor mounts. Also now I feel more confident if I was going to tackle something like this in my driveway. I'm hoping it's similar procedure for my crosstrek. The xv's are really lacking on power so I think heavy duty engine/trans mount will help a little. I replaced my catback this weekend and noticed a lot of play in the trans mount while I was under there.
so trans mount seems pretty pain free to do aha. thankfully. just got some group n sti mounts for engine and trans for my wrx. car has 270xxx on it and pretty sure theyre still the factory ones in there. should make the car feel pretty crisp again
@@Deep6Rally yeh just did the trans mount yesterday. easiest job ive done on the dam thing to be honest ahaha. everything else that should have been easy turns into a 6h job. this was all of 30 minutes. doing the engine mounts today
I think you can install the trans mount easier by taking out the center piece and installing the four bolts into the transmission, then after torquing them down you can install the piece that has the bushings and tighten its bolts. Also, am I the only one that thinks the transmission mount looks a little crooked/angled?
okay this might sound dumb (and is also 6 years late) but I have a question about the bolts you use to attach the new mount to the transmission. I did the same process you did, but as you mentioned, it was very difficult to tighten some of them. In fact, one managed to rattle out and fall out while on the road. It had been 2 years since I replaced it, and when I went down under my car, there were two different types of bolts screwing into the mount! Two on the one side tightened well, while the other on the other side (has a washer while the others were one piece) just spins and spins like it's stripping the threads inside. Were all of your bolts one piece without washer and did you have any stripping issues?
Hey love the video! So I am working on a 2009 subaru forester 2.5x and I got both these nuts out as you showed but the engine isn't raising at all. Is there something I'm missing?
Hey I follow you on instagram. I found this video because I'm doing the transmission mount on my 2012 wrx. At the end when you started talking about rally I was like oh cool I should check out his other videos and then I saw your username. Great video! Still holds up
Why did you go with the Torque Solutions mounts versus stock or Subaru's Group N mounts? I have the Group N mounts and can slightly feel the idle rumble in the steering wheel and pedal; how much more NVH do you notice? And have you done any rear diff mount bushings or rear subframe outrigger bushings? I put in Turn in Concepts' Klunk Killer kit in a long time ago and I can feel it tightened up the rear end so much and stop the diff from hitting the subframe. Thanks for the informative videos!
I bought these because they all came in a kit and were really good price. The car is still up on jack stands right now lol I am doing shocks and stuff to. I haven't actually even started it with the new mounts yet so I'm not sure about the increased vibration. and other then this and sways, endlinks and shifter bushings I haven't done anything to rear the end. But that's good to know that kit you got helped the rear I might have to do that soon. I am glad you enjoy the videos.
@@Pionirish I honestly don't even notice the noise anymore. It was more that I could feel the engine a bit more but even that isn't anything to worry about, I forgot about it lol. And I don't think it has effected the gear changing at all
Does anyone know if it's possible to install the engine mounts without removing the headers just curious because I know my headers are not gonna be able to come off for reasons I don't wanna talk about 😭
@@Deep6Rally Understood. However, I was not tuned in to "way before"! I think, that as much clarification as realistic during a presentation of the heavy geometry of automobiles should be noted. I have the highest respect for mechanics! Thank you.
Awesome video! How do you like these mounts? I just installed them on my 14 wrx and a get a lot of vibrations when starting out in 1st. All the other gears r ok. But it vibrates a lot when starting from a stop. Let me know if you experience a lot of vibrations thanks!
Yea you will get alot of vibration because these are poly mounts, polyurethane is a lot stronger and rigid then rubber so that's why you are getting the feedback
i just installed them too, i was on here to see if it was the same for everyone else. I have a lot of vibration and my access port is showing a random -1.4 feed back knock
Hey, i have a 2007 forester and I bought the 2 motor mounts, but subaru said i have to buy a bracket, because the mounts are like a upgraded version, should i get those brackets or i can install them without it? Help please!!
A1 PRESENTATION. KNOWLEDGABLE, NO DRIBBLING AND NO BLOODY MUSIC! WELL DONE!
popee45 Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed.
Almost died laughing with the subaru tech hands meme

It can be the mounts if something is clunky when starting, let me know how it goes

Subarus are fidget cubes for anyone who works on them.
Nice video man. Love the details you include in it. These products look super nice! Subscribed!

Hi, great video. Is the procedure the same (or basically the same) for a 2010 Forester? Thanks!
tom
Hi
Thanks for making helpful video. Is this same procedure for 2013 subaru outback? Also do you order parts from subaru dealer?
Perfectly informative thanks man from NYC to you 💖

Thank you I appreciate it, very easy and straight forward install.

Why no mention of a Pitch Mount?
I did that one way before I had to do these two, but yes that is another very important one

Am the only one who just pulls the motor and does other maintenance while its out? Clutch. Plugs. Etc
All of maintenance should be done when the engine is out but sometimes it's easier to knock out smaller stuff if you don't have to pull it
What mounts are compatible with the sf5 forester? I see lots of impreza and sti mounts but nothing outside of oem.
I have no idea but there are alot of the body styles that can work with others

I am not sure how the new brackets would fit with your car
Can I use these in my 1999 gc8
This specifically won't. Be you should be able to find ones that are meant for your year
What kind of car was this done on?
A lot of dirt i know
I think you skipped a few steps bud 😂
What step are you looking for?
Eww, that silicone on the exhaust gasket...
