Loved this video! I've been searching for info on how this score was made. Is there full video/audio of the talk that Trent is giving somewhere on youtube?

Really well done. And - appreciate Trent Reznor's commentary. Such a simple, minimalist and effective opening theme / motif. He's right - the music set the tone for the entire film, along with great sound design. (Love the flip-flops).

Haha I’m glad you enjoyed the video! One other thing I’ve always wanted to point out is that they lined up the climax of the White Stripes guitar solo right when she says the climactic dialog of the scene, ...you’re an asshole.” So it’s like even the diegetic music is scoring the action. Maybe I should start adding my own commentaries to the videos...

Good thing they didn't go w the Elvis Costello song... would have been a completely different movie...

Isn't it so strange? It's still fun to hear though.. it's an interesting Fincher choice, and I love how it still syncs up perfectly. The intro sequence to Gone Girl was also edited to a different cue than the one they ended up using which is why the editing is so fast paced. Seems those guys like to do incongruent and unexpected choices like that.
