Of all the damn tutorials I've seen on here, this is by far the most informative. I guess that's why School of Motion is a SCHOOL OF MOTION! I just wished I could afford to take their courses. Keep these awesome tutorials coming please.
One thing that is confusing to me. At 3:52 you say the displacement map targets the noise layer. But the logo is the thing being "glitched" so why isn't this the "target?" Good tutorial. Thanks.
ok, im legit stuck in begining....4:12 my image isnt affected by these changes. im double checking doing this over and over and still same BS. Anyone knows?
Absolutely fantastic tutorial. For other beginners to after effects and graphic design like me, be aware that this particular glitch effect only looks good when on a white background, because the glitch is based on RGB (and doesn't show up well on other colors. I just found out...
Does anyone know how to save the project file and be able to import it into another compostion? I havent figured out how to do that yet in after effects
Thank you for the absolutely killer tutorial and template. Currently trying to pre-compose the main comp so that I can use a `loopOut()` expression to make my glitch keyframe choices loop over a longer period of time. It's giving me expression errors when I pre-compose though. Any idea how to fix this?
I need your help ASAP. Everything works on a black text or picture only when it takes rgb channels from the white background. But what if I need to make it alpha only (no BG)? If the picture has only black color, the glitch is happening, but not shifting color channels...
Is anyone else struggling with the "Creating a Reuseable Template" section of the video? After I precompose, and paste the attributes onto the source layer, when I go back in and delete the keyframes, it wont give me the option of pickwhipping (or parenting) back to the source layer effects. There's no pickwhip icon beside the effect. In fact my screen just says "parent" there is no "& link"
Hy there.. I m beginner motion graphics Artist..and editor. U teach us alot. Thank you for that.. can u convert circle to cone. In after effects only using shape and without plugin. .big help.. thank you..
do you maybe have the full version where you didn't hack space and time and show us exactly where you put down those key frames because if so please email that video to me please!! - yours, sincerely confused.
@@fernandoosorio8464 I like this tip, but any idea how to do it with a piece of footage that is the entire frame? I'm getting black glitches in the sides because the footage is being moved I guess
@@SolidContent Maybe creating a solid layer below the frame you want to mask, then mask the subjetc you want to appear, so it only shows that and not the entire frame, then select everything and pre-compose it.
Hello! I have a question about an older video where you talked about Joystick controlles in Cinema 4D. I was wondering if you could go in depth on how you created the mouth on your character in the video. It is almost exactly what I am looking to do but have not been able to make it how the video shows. If you could explain or show eventually that would be great! The first tutorial that I am actually able to follow. Well done mate, great work!

It's very nice for you to teach us how to simplify the process and make it easy to use.
Very helpful for me.

Excellent, understandable tutorial with a hint of good humor! Thank you so much! 😊
Thank you so much. This is an incredible tutorial. Definitely useful for many kinds of projects. Really appreciate your effort in sharing this tuts.
Great video. You could also use master properties to link those sliders and have even more flexibility to drop that glitch comp in any other comp.
i was thinking the same thing, when he linked the effect to source
SOM free tutorials are Gold, for those who can't afford there course ♥️

The target is where it gets the displacement from, not where it's being applied to :)

It's going to be hard to not glitch effect everything now! :D
in displacement map effect settings at 4.00, i cant change source to effect and mask. can please help me??

@@KotRFFXIV If you're having this problem, turn the 'Adjustment Layer' toggle OFF for the noise layer.

How can I use Effects and Masks in Displacement Map on 2015 CC version? Do I have to make complete different steps or is there a workaround?

how did you write the script in the video

How do you clean the edge of the screens from the extra noise?
Maybe just mask your subject and hide the background?

@@SolidContent In my opinion it's easier to just use Motion tile on it, Then increase the Output Width/Height and turn on mirror edges.
