I like that the Bulls played Matas at the 3. I think that might be his most natural fit. But above all I thought he and Dalen Terry brought the most energy. The Bulls can’t afford not to have a hustle guy at ALL times. We can’t afford to give up offensive rebounds, etc..

Well I think that Matas as good as he is the Bulls will still struggle to win a lot of games. I don't expect much from the Bulls as the season goes on. Matas looks good but still has a lot to learn

I think Zach is gonna look fine, I wouldnt expect an 11 year vet coming off an injury to put up crazy numbers in the first preseason game of the year. I think judging zach you have to look at that leg, and his knee looked to be fine imo

I think buzelis this season will be the starting PF in the long run and Patrick Williams will be the same old Pat, not aggressive, look lost in the offense and will end up coming off the bench.
I think we are stuck with lavine. That 15% trade kicker is going to keep teams already over the tax away from lavine and the teams with money don't want lavine because he doesn't fit their timeline. Unfortunately he will likely play out his contract here Tobias Harris /Ben Simmons style

Vooch has to go. Zach needs to go. All that’s doing is stifling growth at this point. Some real young talent here now. We needed the mentor in Demar and AC. The intangibles we lost are gonna show until we can move these two dudes. Cuz there ain’t no leader now.
I like the depth. Ball and Giddey should make the team fun to watch.

Spot on analysis as usual. Only thing I thought you missed was THT’s play. He attacked the rim and finished strong at it. He gets downhill and uses that frame to bully well. I thought he really looked good on the floor, better than I thought he would anyhow.
I don’t know if it would’ve felt good but this “pivot” should’ve happened a long time ago. I know it’s beating a dead horse at this point, but it’s hard to not think they would be in a lot better position if this happened last offseason or midway through the season before that. As a fan this team could actually have a future, whereas it hasn’t felt like that for a couple seasons now.
It is shocking how thorough Matas truly is man. Athletic. Court vis. Literally trying to contest every shot not even just his man’s😂 ball IQ. Shot selection (3 is raw still). Hes one of the most well rounded rookies I’ve seen in a minute. That shit just isn’t a fluke. I knew smith was a good pickup. Honestly??? Give me Lofton and yall can keep Duarte out a bit. And then Zach. Doing Zach things. Tryna force the same weird shot. But giddy was thorough. Mentored by Zo he could really learn a lot. If nothing else.

This game showed me that Patrick Williams will never become what we need him to be when a rookie could do it on day one. We needed a lengthy, SF build that can slash, catch and shoot, and play defense. Matas looked more eager to prove this capability. Pat looked like he is still learning how to play basketball
If up to me I would start him at power forward.

@@bookinsights1092 Not if he continues to play well enough and develop in the NBA, most likely. If he can go even 16 solid minutes a game over 82 he won't see the G. Let's not forget...he came from the G League Ignite. We'll have to see what other teams can do to impede him. But if he can "play his game" in the NBA and hold his own defensively? Work out his shot as he goes along? I think the NBA is where guys like him develop best. But yes...he's got to keep proving it one game at a time. However the kid may simply be too talented to hold down in the G. Bulls have an NBA level shooting coach, player development staff, and two new assistant coaches that have player development backgrounds. Lets start there and not make Matas a G League candidate should he be able to hang in the NBA at an acceptable level.

Matas is doing a lot of injury preventive exercises, which bring fluency & stability to his running & agility. 👍

It’s early, but I would start:
Giddy
Coby
Matas
Pat
Smith
This lineup would be long and active on Defense and athletic pushing the ball.
Think about it a bit more… Poke holes in your own logic. You will change that lineup for sure. That lineup will be at the bottom of the league in defense especially when matching up against the league’s best guards.

Its time for the pat project to end. I think he is not as good as we think he is. I think Dalen and Julian will take leaps with someone like Matas pushing them to be better. I really think Matas has the chance to be a generational talent for the bulls.
Giddey can distribute, His issue, other than his shooting, is that he's not a good defender. Williams' low motor is a problem--the guy could be a monster if he had a pulse. I have no idea why the Bulls paid him what they did. Buzelis will get some minutes, but he's going to knocked around a lot--but he's better than anyone thought. Smith is fine, and the definition of cheap ownership getting bargain players.

Lavine should have played better today as well as the other vets I'm looking out for improvements like Ben Simmons. If the oldest player in the league scored 19 points, there's no excuse for these guys in their 20's.

As much as he looks good the Bulls can’t develop so I am very pessimistic on him getting to reach his potential.
Josh isn’t gonna be a difference maker, I understand he’s a pass first player but not being able to shoot is concerning and also guys like lavine and vuc not having the energy and shooting mentality is gonna be hard
Josh was great in okc because he was surrounded by shooters and scorers Lavine and vuc seems like they let off the gas pedal which is sad, however white, Matias, smith, ayo looked really good

My predictions for this "Team" and the reasons why I'm so done with the Bulls.
- Coby's regression, Pat staying the same, Zach taking away minutes from the young guys, and Vucevic will be even more pathetic. This team will be one of the worst defensive teams in the league and will tank without wanting it because they have absolutely no heart.
Trade Zach to the Spurs trade Vuc to the Wizards trade P Will to Hornets see what we can get

Please play Sanoga, and Kenny Lofton Jr. That is the muscle the Bulls need to start games. Lavine, Vucevic, and Patrick Williams doesn't fit this team. No spirit, no energy , and no significance on the court. Patrick Williams has no talent offensive and defensive . Send him down to the g league or trade him before the season starts. What a disappointment !
Vucevic is not fit with the team. He is out of place. I still think Zach has to go because he is not it. I still believe in Pat Williams that he can do better and that hopefully he picks it up. Matas is really good today especially defensively although he is still raw offensively. Both Coby and Ayo are tremendous. Talen torton is also playing good and Chris duarte shooting like he's second coming of the Valentine.

Pat has shown himself to be who he is... He's not that good, he's too small to play the four, he's not offensively skilled enough to play the three and he's not consistent enough on offense to justify starter minutes. It's a joke he got a contract as large as he currently has... also remember... The Bulls passed up Haliburton, McDaniels, Maxey, Bane and Quickley.. actual better talent.. and I know that McDaniels is a part of that archetype I dread, but McDaniels is taller, better offensive player and lo and behold, and ALL NBA DEFENSIVE TEAM selection... whilst Patrick is trash... a bench player at best and a bust at worst.
