In 50+ years of Bible study I had never noticed that in Matthew 5:18 the word "till" is used twice. It behooves all believers to be humble when discussing the scriptures. No human has a perfect understanding of the Word. We are dependent upon the Holy Spirit.

Christ told us how He would “fulfill”, by sifting it through a heart of LOVE! This is how “thou shall not murder”, becomes, “anyone who is angry with a brother will be subject to judgment”. I mean, imagine what our worship of the Father would look like if we didn’t have the Law to use as a guardian, but trusted in our own understanding of righteousness before Christ is able to fulfilled the Law in our heart (Galatians 3:23-25).
Without the righteousness of Christ we might be tempted to worship the Father in a way that seems right to a man (Proverbs 14:12), or the way the nations worship their gods (Deuteronomy 12:4) by holding onto the traditions of our forefathers (Mark 7:8). Traditions the Father says are worthless, like cutting trees out of the forest and adorning it with silver and gold and then fastening it so it doesn’t totter (Jeremiah 10:3-4). Or we could make a fatal mistake of giving honor to a false god like E-ster for the resurrection of Christ (Exodus 23:13).

But by using the Law as a tutor we’re able to discover the idols of our heart, the idols that keep us from finding true joy and peace. For example, I used to think there was joy in eating bacon, so when I read that pork is an abomination to the Father I was faced with a decision, was I going to believe my truth that bacon is good, or the Father’s truth that its an abomination. Now I have the free will to eat all the bacon I want, but I’m not free of the consequences that result from my actions (1 Corinthians 10:23) like hypertension and heart disease. Of my own free will I decided to stop eating bacon and it didn’t take long before I found “truth through understanding”, as the Father blessed me with improved; mental alertness, physical energy and a spiritual blessing to understand why He asked us to have discipline in what we consume, not just in what I eat, but what I watch and read, and what I listen to as well. This grew my faith in the Father which caused me to search out more of His truth.
Sure, it’s hard to go against the doctrines of men who teach that the Law has been done away with, but its only when we accept the terms of the covenant, our wedding vows, will Jesus remove the veil that covers our heart when Moses is read (2 Corinthians 3:15-16). For its only when this veil is removed are we able to see the truth that is able to set us free. This is what it means to walk in the Spirit and Truth (John 4:23). For more detail I invite you to watch our short video, "Walking in the Spirit and Truth. May you be blessed in your pursuit of truth.

2 chronicles 7 14 says if My people humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways I will hear them from heaven and heal their land. 🔥
People need to turn from their wicked ways, Jesus paid for it. They need to repent, to be cleansed by His blood and live Holy because He's Holy and righteous because He's righteous. Our God said to stop sinning in many many scriptures and He paid for everyone to be cleansed of sin, to live how He said. He dwells in the temple (your body) and said not to defile the temple. He said to defile the temple is death. He's always serious about everything He said to do. He's just as serious about what He said not to do. We live in obedience to His law, every word if it! 💕
Deuteronomy 28 there are blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience. The whole chapter, and verse 46 is one example of generational curses. These go into the following generations, the 3 and 4th. Our children pay the price for our sin. Stop sinning you are sending consequences to your loved ones. By God's law you are. If you don't believe me ask Him, in Jesus name may you see and know the truth in it's fullness. 🕊️🙏🔥💕
He's worthy of everything He said and paid for, so I implore you to do as God said. Jesus said If you love me you will obey me. Praise God thank you Jesus in Jesus name 💕 🕊️ 🙏🔥

There seems to be many varying opinions on this lecture. The Bible is complicated; however, I always refer to the book of James(believed to have been written by Jesus' half brother). *I have never heard it preached that you can go on with living any way you want after praying "the sinner's prayer." James is full of instructions on how we are to live especially in the first 2 chapters. My favorite is James 2:19-20 "You believe that there is one God; you do well:
the devils also believe; and tremble." But wilt thou know, oh vain man, that faith without works is dead?" We are to be transformed so that we try to follow Jesus' example. That is it---plain and simple.

  • @Mr.Rogers143

I'd appreciate feedback from anyone after considering something while listening to DA Carson.
Lets just say that the law was still here today. Paul uses marriage and remarriage as an illustration in Romans 7 1:4. In verse 4 he apparently likens believers to a wife and the law to a husband saying, "ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another".
So then, even if the law were still around, we have "died" through the body of Christ, to be joined to him. But we're not without a law entirely because in chapter 8, Paul says "The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death." So now we are under the law of the Spirit.
So we are no longer under any part of the old law. But there are still moral laws within the new one.
An example of to understand this idea would be like if someone moved from China to the US. China has laws against stealing and killing. But just because the US does too, doesn't mean that the authority of China carried over with the person.
Am I thinking about this correctly?

Do not think that I have come to abolish (destroy) the Law or the Prophets”
That means he did not come to treat the law as rubbish and throw it away.
”I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”
His mission were to fulfill the prophecies, but his mission was also to fulfill the righteousness of the law (Matt 3v15), without a single sin. Because there was promises given from God to Abram including with a blessing that would come from Abram. But Abram were to command his people to live in the way of the Lord and do justice and righteousness (the law) for this to be able to happen (Gen 18 v19).
”For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away”
Here he sets a deadline where not a dot should pass away from law.
But it is linked to him having to fulfill the law.
”not an iota not a dot, will pass from the Law”
As it says, not a single dot or a single letter shall pass away from (specifically) the law…until what?
    ”until all is accomplished.”
Here he undoubtedly sets another ultimatum where not a dot should pass away (from the law). And that ultimatum is "until" everything he (intends) to fulfill has been carried out. And he is obviously referring to what he was talking about, that is, that he would fulfill things (concerning) him in the law and prophets.
So the question is, has he fulfilled the law and the prophets in the way as he indicated he would? According to Jesus' own words to the guys on Emmaus road, yes, he fulfilled (what he came) to do. So, the heaven and earth will now eventyally in time pass away.
Luke 24 “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures…”

Believe that Jesus is the Christ
    The Son of God
    And that believing
You may have life in His name.

Christ was the end of the law "for righteousness" to every one that believes on Him. Jews were under the law. Gentiles were never under the law, and Jewish/Gentile Christians are not under the law now. Christians are also not under informal Church rules/laws either. Don't buy it. The only criteria for whether Christians enter into Heaven is their belief in Jesus. The one and only requirement. We can't work our way to Heaven. Grace and Works do not mix. Christ did it all for us. He gave us HIS Righteousness. You, Believe. We have everything we need to get there, thanks be to Him.
(Rom 10:4 KJV) For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
The New Testament doesn't start until after Christ's death on the cross. It doesn't start on the first page of the Book of Matthew. So everything up until His death is the Old Testament. See here:
Heb 9:16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
Heb 9:17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
The Old Testament Gospels are to show us, and lead us into realization that we can't possibly save ourselves and need a Savior. On the sermon on the mount He had us chopping off our hand and plucking out our eye and suggesting these were things we need to do. Really? Not really. He took the law and increased it's requirements to an unattainable goal. No one could live up to that, except Him. Instead, we were supposed to see that we were all guilty and sinners in need of a Savior. See here:
Gal 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Gal 3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
Gal 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
And Remember these words from our Lord and Savior...
Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Funny how God chose the simple things to confound the wise. 45 years of study and he hasn't seen Acts 21:20-26? Paul in Jerusalem for Pentecost, comes to James and James gives Paul a prescription for silencing the people accusing Paul of not keeping The Law, and Paul DOES what James asks of him.
Or Acts 16:3, Paul circumcised Timothy. Or Acts 28:17 Paul emphatically states he's done nothing against the customs of the Fathers. Or that Stephen was falsely accused of teaching against the Torah and the Temple Acts 6:10-14. Or that Peter a decade after the resurrection of Jesus was still keeping the Dietary Laws Acts 10:14. Or that Ananias a "devout man according to the Law and respected among the Jews" was called by God himself and sent to pray for Paul Acts 22:12, 9:10-11.
    Things to consider.

Dear brother, my opinion about this is that, in the first century, right after Jesus rose to the skies, there was a difference being developed between Christian Jew and Christian Gentile. Note that christianity was a branch, a sect of Judaism, so their differences would be clearer after acts 15. Paul would never say to a *Christian Jew* that keeping the law is wrong (it would be wrong if you make it a way for salvation) because he was tolerant to this. Its kinda like what he says in 1Co 7:18 “If any man who is a Christian has had circumcision, let him keep so; and if any man who is a Christian has not had circumcision, let him make no change.” Note that Paul was a Jew, he used to be Pharisee so he had some fame to preserve to the Jews. Note too that in acts 21 he says to the Gentiles to maintain the rules they were taught in acts 15. And note again that Paul is always taking care of the churches of the Orient, which were full of gentiles, against judaizers. Im sorry for my poor English. Peace

CAN SOMEONE SAY WHETHER THIS MAKES SENSE, SINCE THE SPEAKER REFERENCED AND SPOKE ON ROMANS 14:5?
    Romans 14:5
“One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.”
FROM BARNES NOTES ON THE BIBLE (BIBLE HUB COMMENTARY)
"Every day alike - The word "alike" is not in the original, and it may convey an idea which the apostle did not design. The passage means that he regards "every day" as consecrated to the Lord; Romans 14:6. The question has been agitated WHETHER THE APOSTLE INTENDS IN THIS TO INCLUDE THE CHRISTIAN SABBATH. Does he mean to say that it is a MATTER OF INDIFFERENCE WHETHER THIS DAY IS OBSERVED, or whether it be devoted to ordinary business or amusements? This is a VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION in regard to the LORD'S DAY. That the apostle did not mean to say that it was a matter of indifference whether it should be kept as holy, or devoted to business or amusement, is plain from the following considerations."
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY CHURCH? IS THE LORD'S DAY SUNDAY APPLICABLE IN ROMANS 14:5, OR NOT?

The word fulfill doesn’t mean abolish. If this were so Jesus would have been found twisted in His own words “do not think I have come to abolish the law or the prophets, I have not come to abolish but to fulfill” Matthew 5:17. How does one think Jesus is saying don’t think I’ve come to abolish, I haven’t come to abolish, I’ve come to abolish? That is CONFUSION and God isn’t the author of THAT. Jesus didn’t abolish or do away with the 10 commandments. If that is so, we can now murder, have abortions, commit suicide etc. If suicide isn’t a sin and you can still be saved committing self murder, why isn’t every christian professing faith then offing themself? Because they know they will be LOST, which means the law is written in the heart.

AMEN!
The restitution of Israel has already been fulfilled. The Church is Israel and Israel is the Church. The Church is the fulfillment of the Old Covenant Torah and prophets. The Old Covenant age were types and shadows of the spiritual reality of things to come in the New Covenant age of the Church. The Torah and prophets were fulfilled over a 40 year time period, starting with Christ's ministry in 30 AD, to the destruction of the Old Covenant temple in 70 AD, which was the historical end of the Old Covenant age. No temple, means there's no more Old Covenant law. That's just a historical fact.

The greatest textual critic that I know of said, its not the local text that determines the meaning of a subject in the sacred scriptures, but the immediate context, and you do not need to be an academic to read and study the context of Matthew chapter 5v17-20, do not think that I have come to destroy the Law or the prophets, but to fulfill them, for truthfully I say unto you that until heaven and earth passes away, not one jot or tittle will pass away until it is all fulfilled, therefore whoever breaks one of the least commandments and teaches others to break them will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven, and whoever does and teaches one of the least commandments will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven, for I say unto you that unless your righteousness exceeds the scribes and Pharisees you will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven,
Later He amends the Law, and even amplifies the Law, to teach that heart sins are as bad as hand sins, but after sixty years as a born-again Christian I no no longer resist the revelation of the Eternal Word manifest in Flesh, but surrender to every word He teaches

You can inherit the kingdom of God by: love your neighbor/brethren. Matthew 25:31-46
You don't inherit eternal life by: keeping the law of the old covenant...
Jesus loved his neighbor: when he was thirsty.. when he was hungry.. when he was sick or in jail.. when he was naked.. when he was a stranger...
If copeland, Joel, meyers, and many more rich ministers were to ask Jesus what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
Jesus would say to them: go, and sell everything you have, and give it to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven, and come, follow me...

But Paul includes the 10th Commandment ("thou shalt not covet") as belonging to the law that we have been delivered/released from. What the...? If we are delivered/released from one of the Old Covenant 10 Commandments, we are delivered/released from all of them. But are we without law? No! We have New Covenant Law now written on our hearts and minds.

The fall of Adam and Eve was a sexual sin. The lust of the eye. They were created in the image of GOD which is Agape LOVE and they fell into Phileo love or Eros love. Adam carried forth the seed of sin until Jesus (second Adam) came to fulfill the LAW and the fulfilling of the LAW is Agape LOVE. GODS IMAGE.
Remember in Matthew 7 where Jesus tells the MANY (Christian’s) “depart from me ye that work iniquity”. Iniquity means LAWLESSNESS. Many are called and the few are CHOSEN. The many never STRIVED to enter the straight gate. Strive means “ to contend with adversaries, fight”. Christ commands the FEW to obey him. Most Christians believe this is “works” and then argue that salvation is a free gift and won’t do what Jesus commands..
The typical sinners prayer is nothing more than “CONVERSION” which means “to turn to”, to twist about”. Regeneration is salvation which means “to go back to the original”. The original what? The original IMAGE of GOD which is Agape LOVE.
So, sexual sin is the fall. Remember the Ten Commandments? Thou “shalt not commit adultery, thou shalt not fornicate, thou shalt not murder, thou shalt not covet”. See, everyone of these sins are a result of lust which was the fall. Cain murdered Abel was a direct result of the sexual sin of Adam and Eve. They went from AGAPE LOVE to Phileo love or Eros love. The LAW is LOVE. The true IMAGE of GOD.

For its only when this veil is removed are we able to see the truth that is able to set us free. This is what it means to walk in the Spirit and Truth (John 4:23). For more detail I invite you to watch our short video, "Walking in the Spirit and Truth. May you be blessed in your pursuit of truth.

The law of Christ? There is no such thing. Jesus said that He does not say anything by himself, only what God says to Him!

Don, you do have the right to “excise your right to be wrong” but that most surely doesn’t make your wrong right. Maybe you should have spent more time on the rest of the verses to get the context correct. It is quite easy to discern between the moral Law and the other by just implementing the simple translation principles of scripture, if the word “Law” is written in upper case ‘L’ it refers to the moral Law and if in a lower case “l” is used it refers to the other. In most translations it is written as Law except for the KJV where it is written as “law”.
Matt 5 18 For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.
Don you are applying eisegeses to this text and read tings into it I does not say and by merely keeping the context it becomes clear what the intention and meaning of the verse is.
By applying your suggested principle that the term Law can also be used as an indicator of prophetic events that must be fulfilled it must surely suggest that the Law will be applicable till the millennium reign where the Sabbath rest will be fulfilled, and that we are to keep the Sabbath as well as the rest of the Ten Commandments up and until then. That also means that the moral Law will be applicable until Jesus returns.
Verses 19 Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Don after reading verses 19 - 20 I will leave it in your hands to determine or judge your position for yourself in the coming Kingdom.
Ps. The Bible is quite clear on what was done away with at the cross:
    In Col 2 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Eph 2 15 by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, …
It is the handwriting of ordinances (ceremonial laws) and civil laws that was nailed to the cross and not Gods Law which is a reflection of His perfect will and Character.

Dear brother, may the peace of Christ be with you always. I think that in colossians 2:14, the word in greek for “handwriting” is χειρογραφον (cheirographon) which means something like a “script of debts”, kinda like when you buy something and let it to be paid after. In this case, the seller writes this “cheirographon”. Christ paid our debts so the cheirographon was removed. It is not related to any kind of law. Have a nice day

Why would a self proclaimed Christ follower NOT want to learn from this but instead follow weak teaching. Dive in as deep as you can my brothers, until you are inhaling and exhaling the Word.

Ahh because if you was a true chris follower then you would take his fathers laws apon your soften heart and want to please him. Not be least in the kingdom. I'm soo glad I came to the word free from man and church bias. It so clear that laws are blessing!

REVELATION 13;15 14 THE LAMB AND THE 144,00
THEN I LOOKED,and behold a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Fathers name written on their foreheads.
And I heard a voice from heaven, like the voice of many waters, and like the voice of loud thunder. And I heard the sound of harpists playing their harps.
They sang as it were a new song before the throne, before the four living creatures,And the elders:
and no one could learn that song except the hundread and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth.
These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God
and to the lamb. And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALSO THE PROCLAMATIONS OF THREE ANGEL !!!!!
