- In this video, I will answer some questions I have been getting recently about the ECFMG, WFME, WDOMS and others that have many international medical graduates worried.
In 2024, your medical school must be approved by the World Federation for Medical Education. This has caused some anxiety for IMGs around the world. Hopefully this video can answer some questions you have been asking me about it!

So, if I am currently in medical school, expected to graduate no earlier than 2027, and the country's accreditation body's recognition status expires in 2026, will I have to hope that the accreditation body renews, or can I still grandfather into the certification process if I am already registered, or should I plan now and attend another school and country that is way past my graduation year?
My college doesn’t have an ecfmg sponsor note as it’s a new school but is listed on the wdoms
Also NMC has got the wfme accreditation for all its schools
So will I be able to apply for ecfmg certification if there is no sponsor note but my school is accredited by wfme

Hello Sir , currently i am in second year of my medical school in Ukraine , my university is in WDOMS and some of the universities of ukraine are also recognised by WFME but my university is not among them ..i want to ask if i give USMLE step 1 and crack it before 2024 and get ECFMG certified..can i give Step 2 even if my university is not WFME certified
Hi there. If you have started the process - submitted Form 186 - you can take Step 1. You have 7 years to take step 2 CK. As long as you have applied for the process before 2024, you should be okay. Will your school apply for WFME?
@@USMDPedia i have emailed them but there is no reply till now . As u know it’s a warzone so i am in india right now but i am going in next month …i will try to do it before 2024

hello I am from india , my school is in list of wdoms but not ecfmge approved , can I appear for usmle 2025, if not what are other countries options where I can practice as doctor , what about uk canada , aus etc
Hi there. The Indian National Medical Council (NMC) has applied for WFME recognition. If all goes well, graduates should be able to apply for ECFMG after 2024 and take the USMLE exams.
Canada requires your school to be on WDOMS so that is okay. You will need to submit documents for Australia and the UK through ECFMG as well for verification. For the UK, you would need PLAB.
You can check the GMC in the UK and the AMC in Australia.

@@RiteshkumarSalunkhe As long as your school is approved by the NMC, you will be okay. That is the purpose of the accreditation/recognition!

Since nmc (indian agency) has applied for wfme recognition my question is will all the medical school of india will become recognised by wfme?
Hi there. If the NMC recognizes the school, it will be WFME recognized. If the school is not accredited by the NMC, it will not be. Hope this answers your question.
I am in the process of taking step 1 and 2 in a year until 2024. can I apply in 2025?
Hi there. If you have an ECFMG number/ID, you can apply. You have to be approved for an ID to take the step 1 and step 2 CK.
Hello Sir I am a 4th yr medical student of From ukraine .I transferred from a school in Nigeria to my present school in Ukraine and my previous school in Nigeria is on world directory but it doesn’t have ecfmg sponsor notes while my current school in Ukraine is ok because it’s on world directory and has ecfmg sponsor notes so Sir please do you advice I wait till my previous school in Nigeria gets ecfmg sponsor notes or is it possible for me to apply to ecfmg and register and start taking the exams while waiting for my previous university to get ecfmg sponsor notes.
Hello there. Thanks for the question. If your current medical school is in Ukraine and if you are graduating from that school, you can apply for your ECFMG certificate. It all depends on where your medical degree is from. I hope this helps!
My medical degree would be from ukraine but I transferred from a medical school in Nigeria which doesnt have ecfmg sponsor notes to Ukraine so ecfmg would have to verify my transfer credits from my medical school in Nigeria that’s why I’m asking if this wouldn’t be a problem
@@favourobaseki3279 I understand. I am not sure if the ECFMG looks at the transfer credits or what the criteria are for them. Your school in the Ukraine is approved, correct? If that is the case, your medical degree is from the Ukraine. I will see about that.

Hi there. Thanks for the question. You can register with the General Medical Council (GMC) to work in the UK. You will need to have your medical education verified by the ECFMG via the EPIC website. You will also need to take the PLAB exam (both parts) within 2 years of your application. I hope this helps!

Hi there! Thanks for the question. If you get certified, you can apply for the 2024 Match. After 2024, you would have to apply for certification again.
