Today on Past Gas, CONCEPT CARS. They’ve always reflected our visions for the automotive future, inspiring and provoking car fans with often impractical designs and features. How do they reflect our greatest hopes, dreams, and failures? What madness fuels the creativity behind these amalgamations of fiberglass, clay, and sheet metal? What company took the idea of the concept car too far? All that and more, on a very futuristic episode of Past Gas.

Thanks for this podcast, guys. It may not get the attention that Donut Media videos get, but I think that those of us that listen to it really appreciate it. I listen to it while I am at work, detailing cars. Just wanted you guys to know that I appreciate you!
Why is it so hard to just compliment something these days? The same people, the same work, same banking account, yes it's a podcast in a video platform... But past gas is the second most listened automotive podcast in Spotify so, I guess they are getting quite a lot of attention, no need to fake same pity here, they get even more attention than they can handle I'd say...
@@gurabirierosanopara620 I feel that automotive podcasts are a small niche, and comparing it to other podcasts can make it feel small. If this show didn't get enough traction I'm sure the guys at donut would bin it to dedicate time to something else. I'm just saying that I appreciate it.
@@gurabirierosanopara620 Dude go smoke a joint and calm down.
@@MorbidOrangeCat yah dude, a joint! You're so cool man, wanna date my sister?
I miss the old style of seeing y'all!
Same! Not quite the same experience. Still good but miss the old format.
Bring back the video!
If the podcast was recorded with video I think it would be much more captivating and enjoyable but keep up the good work!
This episode more than any other needs pictures of the concept cars. Seriously just get who ever does the pics for d list to put a couple picks on this
Hell, I'll do it. It's basically a slideshow with audio over it. Come on yall
Yeah I agree ☝️
How lazy are you? If your not interested enough to Google something I don't think they should show it, why waste your time to cure obsolete lazy people?
@@gurabirierosanopara620 why waste my time going back and forth between the video and google to look up pictures that they used to show, and now don't for no reason, or at least no known worthwhile reason? I'd rather not stop the video every five minutes to look up a picture when they can easily throw it back in like it used to be
It's just not the same. Still great content. Just not the same
@@jackryan4313 My good Lord... How about some cheese with that whine? The time you took to think (not much I know...) write and answer all this you could have searched 2 or 3 images you really got interested. Stop bluntly criticizing others people work just because you wanted it to be different
"UGLY AN WEIRD CONCEPT CARS"
-audio-only podcast
Right!!
Missing the good old days with the video, still appreciate the work you put into the podcast guys, it's great! Keep it up!
Nice to see pictures, even if they're cheap looking power points haha
24:59 I’m pretty sure James just found a way to say aluminum that both brits and Americans will say is wrong
I love this podcast! I'm a driver for work and I like listening to 1 hour+ talk shows. On topics that I like, one of them being cars! I found out about your podcast from watching your regular donut channel videos. I've been watching for years and I never knew you guys had a podcast! Now I have a. Huge backlog of vids to watch, just what I need when on long drives. I love you guys!!!!
That ID-X is still a killer concept.
I miss the video, still enjoying though 🥲
I came from Spotify thinking I would get a video with my podcast since I’m not driving but no. Why can’t I see y’all’s beautiful faces and the cars you’re talking about when you talk about them, what the heck, and if you need someone to do that for you then I volunteer
A concept car I like the most is probably the Honda SSM (Honda S2000 concept). It’s not that different from the released version except the lines are of the car are a bit sleeker. And the front head lights are in the bumper (kind of like a big fog light) and different tail lights, they look way better in my opinion. I also love the newer Toyota FT-1 or the Nismo IDX as was mentioned.
Edit: I also love the Mitsubishi Double Shotz, which I’m not sure was even considered a concept car since I don’t think it was made. I do have the Hot Wheels of it still.
I think the double shotz is hot wheels version of the mitsubishi RA concept, which was rumored to be the new eclipse
Please please please!!! Do a podcast on spinning in SA. I’ve always watched your B2B vids. But during lockdown you guys were my no.1 channel. Car content is tops!!! Keep up the work! Maybe more podcasts too. You guys are the best to listen to while working. Anderson from Cape Town
There are some amazing motorama cars to fantasize about, the GM Firebird 3 fighter jet car, SS Corvettes, the Mako Shark, Aerovette, Fords King Kobra Torino is all that and a bag of chips, but then AMC’s rear engined AMX 3 concept car, is the cats pajamas!
absolutely love your work guys
Man, you guys always make the best podcasts 👍👌
Thank you for the podcast you guys I work at a grow n we listen to you n everyone even if they are not into cars loves the history of it
The episode’s great but It’s getting more apparent that we could use some pictures
One of my favorite podcasts and I hope you guys keep doing it
Love this show guys
Spinning is a staple of mine growing up. It’s the main reason I love e30s so much. And yes, E30s are dirt cheap down in S.A
This is why this podcast needs video it's just not meant for audio only and neither are you guys I just wish it would go back to the old ways. Why have a studio for this without video
I think the coolest concept I've ever seen, which I SO wish became a production car, is the Bizzarini Manta, which is this really cool wedge shaped supercar thing, and is center-drive like the McLaren F1. It's so cool looking and I wish they made them, but sadly there was only ever one built and it's probably in a museum some place
The Ford Probe III is actually closer to the European Ford Sierra or the Merkur XR4Ti in North America, which explains the Cossie-looking spoilers which also came from the Fords in Europe in the following years.
Chrysler did not care if they made money on the Prowler simply breaking even was considered unlikely. The Prowler was, along with the all-plastic Neon, an experimental vehicle testing out even more advanced methods of assembly aluminum and composite bonding. Nearly 900 lbs of the 2,862-lb roadster consist of aluminum--including body, frame, and suspension parts. It was the most significant production effort with aluminum of it's time.
Thanks for this boys. Perfect to listen to while I'm laid up injured (fell off my electronic scooter
If you think the Firebird II concept was taking the aviation theme too far you should see the Firebird I. That one was literally a one-seater fighter jet on wheels
The Chrysler ones from the 2000s. TF141he Chrysler ME412 and the Chrysler Firepower. Both of them were nearly production ready when the plug was pulled.
Also, the GRMN FR Hot Hatch Concept. Designed by the guy responsible for the Lexus LFA, it was basically a RWD Toyota Aygo.
Fire like always🔥🔥🔥
Ayeeeee oooooo this will work for my Sunday morning
I pause these so often to google the cars, engines and tracks you guys mention … would pics of significant things be a super costly addition to the podcast videos posted to RUclips? Asking for a genuine fan✌🏾
31:50 ...that's how you can tell they've never seen a Ford SIERRA before
Damn, I want a nuclear car that goes 5yrs between fill ups!
15 grand for a fill up. No thanks lmao
PAST GAS, PAST GAS, PAST GAS. Love you beys x
I remember reading about the Chrysler ME412 and they bragged about it not just being a concept but also having a running prototype aaaaaaand they never did anything with it 🙁
I saw a brand new Plymouth Prowler on a dealer lot yesterday.
Can you put pictures up of what you're talking about. I kinda loosy watch my phone while working, but not enough that I can quickly go and look up what you're talking about, so getting a little visual representation of the car or thing you're talking about would be great. Great podcast again otherwise
transports were cool af ac rocked btw and it had removable bucket seats in the back all five
PT Cruiser be poppin tho...😂😂😂
Always loved the Dodge Copperhead concept car
Yeah this one REALLY needed video for obvious reasons, sorry guys.
Would adding pictures kill y’all?
Love donut media but I wanna see all the awesome cars you’re talking about. I understand it’s a podcast but it would be amazing
Dont expose the beams, expose the BEEN'S!
Please bring back video please
Got to see a Tomahawk in person as a kid and it's as glorious as you'd imagine
bring em face cams back
i miss the og podcast... james and nolan together... like the ford vs ferrari podcast was my favourite ever... ive heard it probably 20 times now
I thoroughly enjoyed the live show. Next step, live show w/ a live audience
Hoovies garage owns a prowler too. I got a neighbor who owns 1. I would love to own 1 too
My favorite concept car is the corvette stingray concept. The car in transformers 2 and 3.
You guys would get much more views if you Didn’t have a separate podcast channel
The Gusheshe is basically e30's
The probe 3 definitely looks like the merkur xr4ti
No mention of the amazing Pontiac Stinger!?
not sure if this ad runs on RUclips, but the Eucrisa ad that plays 5 times per podcast on Spotify is driving me insane with how bad it is, and I needed to let someone know. It did clear up my terrible, debilitating eczema though, and my wife will finally kiss me on the mouth again so………my favorite concept car is the 1996 Mercedes-Benz F200 Imagination cause it’s got the gold wing doors
How are you going to do a podcast about what cars look like that's audio only? I hate that you don't do video anymore. Such a terrible decision to go audio only.
What were they theeeeeeenkeeeeeeeng
YOU GUYS HAVE THE BEST POD CASTS BUT YOU GOTTA BRING BACK THE CAMS MANNNN!!!! ITS NOT THE SAME WITHOUT YOU GUYS BEING ON SCREEN
Dunno why they're not listening at this point tbch
Dodge Sidewinder
An episode about bizzare designs of concepts yet none images on screen? Come on guys
It’s been exactly 1 month today since we’ve seen @ZachJobe what’s up with that?
i feel like the editors are always just cutting off Joe's comments in weird ways lol like "moving on Joe.." *??*
Valvoline? Nope. Mobil.
Nice
Bring back your faces
I always wanted my girlfriend to give me a Y-job for Christmas!
Ford GT90
Bring the images back.
Can you not show pictures due to licensing? Watching this on my phone, I can’t back track to the vehicles you’re speaking about!
Happy holidays and Merry Christmas! Thank you.
Whats a z j? If you have to ask, you cant afford it
I never understood why podcasts go Audio Only when they talk about highly visual topics like vehicles. Why not at least then put an image of the vehicle you're talking about. I'm soo not into this imagination challenge.
Lol
love the podcast but F1 is starting, sorry guys....
first 100 lets gooo
being straight up, i love you guys but the podcast isnt made for these types of episodes. kinda stupid i gotta pause, look up the car, maybe rewind if i didnt hear it right, look it up and see it than continue
I love everything about this podcast except for that god awful theme intro thing I hate it so much lol pls redo it with something a little more professional or something lol
Ayyyy
Just so you know I'm not listening to this whole podcast because it is pointless without video
I bet they are crying because you aren’t going to watch it
No I no they aren't but I'm just giving constructive criticism to the people of my favorite podcast because they might potentially see it but probably not. So Alex why try to troll are you really that bored my friend. I'm sorry life sucks but you don't have to drain everyone else's. Just a thought is all
