Char Aznable-Harmless Sweetie what was it like actually making the decision to cut contact and going through with it ( I’m in a similar situation with my parents)
Should have gotten in touch with lawyers about hat one. Refusing to accept payment and instead holding the money like that has got to break a lot of laws and regs.
Story One: What was she expecting to happen? That's easy. The lawyer friend would do nothing and the friend would pay and the lady would feel accomplished and proud that she proven herself to be the bigger threat. People like that are so used to winning against the weaker they can't see when a strong opponent is in front of them. Greed and Pride don't mix.
The problem is that that is a valid (as in it can generate earnings) strategy. Bill someone with a superficially legit demand, and insist you are right. If enough people cave in you get a profit and offset the loss that those who fight the bill generates.
I am not a lawyer but I worked as a debt collector and he went through alot of training...and the lady from the first the story made me laugh and see dollars signs
7:16 "Bob is a tool; should have collected him." And I'm a little bit surprised that those construction workers didn't band together to help OP do exactly that.
Honeslty credit unions are so underrated. Love mine so much because i have never had an issue and they always went above and beyond in terms of service
I love my credit union! Customer service is second to none. The only reason my mortgage isn't with them is because they only offer adjustable rate and I want a fixed rate.
Credit Unions are answerable to their members ...... at least mine is. That is why my money is in what is called a "share account". By having an account with the Credit Union, I own a share of it.
The first one gave me vital information. The next time debt collectors call for the previous owner of my phone number, I'm gonna ask for their legal department. HEADS. WILL. ROLL.
Don't know how it works in other countries, but in the UK, if the person we contacted is clearly the wrong person, we automatically remove the number. If its the customer and they don't want us to contact them, we remove the number but we advise we will still send out letters. As for how debt collection companies get these numbers, it is from credit file referencing agencies and through dedicated tracing team. But companies getting wrong numbers happens a lot. It happens, part of the parcel with tracing.
@@BambiTheFable yeah, but I've already told them THREE DAMN TIMES this ain't the number they're looking for. Each time they said they'd put it on their do not call list, yet they continue to call. I believe this constitutes harassment.
OMG! My husband's ex passed away from cancer a few months ago and he was sent a bill for some of her credit card debt. They never shared an account of that kind and have been divorced for 25 years. Yeah, we threw them away.
"What was she expecting to happen?" Debt collectors have heard every threat to get out of paying money. I imagine most people who say they're lawyers actually aren't, and are just trying to intimidate them. "Go ahead and sue" is a pretty good screening tactic.
Wow, I work in First Party collections and I can attest that what this lady did at the ambulance company was the exact opposite of what collections are support to do, First Party or not. While many of the protections afforded to customers in the collections process only apply to 3rd party collections, 1st party collections should always strive to follow the more stringent guidelines as several of them do still apply, including that if a Lawyer calls and says they are representing the customer you MUST cease all further contact with the customer and only speak with the attorney. Mind blowing.
Yeah, debt collections after deaths are pretty evil. I kinda understand some companies desperate for money owed, but if no survivors are legally liable it's kinda cruel to threaten and scare grieving people into paying. My father died intestate (no will) and I can't remember what it's called, but he basically didn't leave an estate, only debts. Sadly some of them were joint with my mom, but one of his credit cards was only in his name. And they wanted my mom to pay, but yeah, no, sorry. I think she had to send them a letter once, twice max, saying he died without assets and they stopped. So pretty lucky it didn't become Reddit drama worthy. And further lucky, he did a sort of death benefit thing when he worked for the government and it paid out enough money to cover his funeral expenses.
The mortgage company story sounds like the same company my wife and I dealt with after our mortgage was sold for the third time. Had NO issues with the original or first two companies that bought out our mortgage, but as soon as CENLAR bought us out we had nothing but problems with them, mainly due to the whole "Partial Payment" excuse except we had one payment that was literally $100 short one month and as a result they did not apply (but held onto our money) the next full year of mortgage payments, which is when they started sending us foreclosure threats and started sending employees to peek in our window to try and determine if anyone was home in an attempt to change our locks on us before they had even filed for foreclosure. Finally had to hire a real estate lawyer and sell the house because CENLAR would not work with us at all on getting the mortgage back on track (the only thing they would agree to was a deal that had us paying the interest each month but nothing was being applied to paying off the loan itself) and on the day of the closing we get informed we were being hit with $75,000 in fines and fees we were never informed of prior. We almost had to PAY to sell out house! AVOID CENLAR LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!

The last story reminded me of something that happened in 2003. A friend and I built a very beautiful patio on a custom home spent two weekends building this thing only to get stiffed on our payment. Well we find out he's throwing a giant party the weekend after we finished so we waited called him all week still nothing. So the day of his party we parked around the corner warmed up a couple of chainsaws pulled up in front of his house kick the gate in found him before we brought the chainsaws in by the way demanded our payment he still refused. He was surrounded by a lot of very wealthy friends they are all looking like what the hell's going on. I told this guy you pay us or we're taking the patio down. He didn't believe me till my friend walked in with a chainsaw fired it up and started walking at the center post. You know it didn't take him long to show up and hand me $8,500 cash in front of all of his friends who just realized what kind of a deadbeat this guy really is.

Holy freaking wack! The same exact thing happened with my old mortgage company. Only I had no way to prove anything and after they foreclosed without notice and sold my property while I was still living there to a shell holding Corp owned by themselves, they evicted us, tried to steal our other properties and force us off our other home property... They took our money, home, ruined our credit, and blamed us. All I can think with the rude agents and everything being the same, Must be VANDERBILT mortgage company.
The second to last story - it was her fault. The OP said they told her they don't accept payments no more than $340 or your full payment. You should have already knew they would be trouble as what company does that? SMH. That is a nightmare situation.
it’s bullshit of the highest caliber. it’s a contract that he signed, he’s claiming that they tried to illegally alter his contract under penalty of foreclosure without any appeal and then reveals that he could just transfer it to another bank easily? then why didn’t he do that in the first place? and the whole threatening to foreclose quickly is total garbage, it take multiple months of no payments to go before a judge to foreclose. the whole refusing half payments is laughable as the money would be declined or held in escrow, they purposely held his moneys illegally and then threatened him? they wouldn’t do that, the money is automated so would automatically be deducted from his debt
As someone who works in debt dispute, the first story made my skin crawl. One of my duties is deleting accounts if we accidentally reached out after a cease and desist. We have automated systems to try and stop this because "holy lawsuits Batman"
“His life was so boring he came into work two hours early.” That is certainly a statement from a person from a younger generation than me not understanding that in the “old” days the job market was much much worse than anything seen in last 25 years. There is also a lot of bad lawyers who threaten to sue over everything and never follow up too.
That story about the mortgage company triggered flashbacks from when I had similar problems with our doctor's clinic. We love our doctor, but the billing dept is a nightmare. They'd list the same appts on multiple bills because they weren't applying payments to those appts. Instead, they'd just randomly assign the funds to any appts in the system, regardless of whether or not they'd officially billed us for those appts yet. It left our records an absolute mess because (due to differing costs of certain appts) some would get paid in full while others only got partially paid. We tried writing appt dates on the checks, but they'd ignore them. My husband finally resorted to writing individual checks for each and every appt on the bill. They tried to tell him that wouldn't be necessary, but after countless phone calls and two in-person mtgs that I only got because I "stormed the castle", he wasn't budging. We haven't had any issues since, but I'd like to think that the woman who processes those checks (whom I've had the dubious pleasure of meeting) thinks of us every time she has to process each individual check.
We bought a home in 2001. In 2003 they tried to increase our escrow account by $400. That is where you pay extra each month to cover the costs of insurance and property taxes. I knew that neither one of those had increased, so there was no reason to up the monthly amount. I called Wells Fargo to talk to them about it. They that we had late payments, only we had just bought a new car and no late payments showed on our credit report. So I said, "I feel as if you are trying to force us into foreclosure." I had remembered that they had gotten in trouble for just that several years prior. Those were golden words. Not only did my escrow account amount stay the same, but they also restructured our loan with better interest rates. We didn't have to make a payment for 3 months too. Bonus.
The reason Bob told her to pick up all the tools was that he wanted to see her clean. Clean for him. Because that is what a woman is Supposed to do. He was belittling her and trying to make her feel lesser. I don’t understand what makes that kind of person. What could have happened to them? It’s sad.
Telling a lawyer to sue you has the exact same energy as telling the guy mugging you "What are you gonna do, stab me?"
or telling someone giving you death threats "Kill me then"
Well no that would be rude
What are you gonna do? Stab me?
Or asking a hacker that hacked your steam “what are you gonna do? hack the rest of my stuff?”
"What are you gonna do big guy? Sit on me?"

3:50 In the "out of court settlement negotiations" I would demand that the Karen is forced to pay said debt instead of whoever they were trying to collect from as a form of punitive penalty.
The best part of waking up, is Rslash in your cup!
approved abbreviations: who doesnt know what ASAP mean?
mortgage issues: sounds like the housing b**l that happened in 2008.
Hello here's some popcorn while you scroll through comments 🍿
As somebody who works for a mortgage company, there is no way she should have gotten a first letter that has anything to do with forclosing in ten days. That's insane!!!
Another early post?! Is this Christmas?! Yay!

edit: "i'm a power hungry know it all and my 5 minute google search that gave my computer a virus clearly states that i know more than you, professional lawyer."
perfect timing i just got done finishing another rslash vid
Should have made the manager who told the lawyer to sue them have to apologize in person... 😀
Watching these videos are like my coffee in the morning.
That lawyer should have agreed to drop the lawsuit on the condition that the employee was fired and not rehired or even just blacklisted from all collection agencies.
I wanna know, which subreddit that RSlash has done is your favorite ever since you subbed to him? Mine is Prorevenge, Nuclearrevenge, Entitled Parents, & Malicious Compliance.
Mine too! :D
Treelaw
Malicious Compliance, AITA, Ask Reddit, Murdered By Words, Prorevenge, Nuclearrevenge, and TIFU are mine.
Same but add in aita and petty revenge
"Bob is a tool. You should have collected him."
Me: BUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRN!
His thumbnails are awesome
Simple yet cool!
Hi, how's everyone's day?
I hope you all have a nice day
Don't threaten a lawyer to sue you, because they will!
I was so confused because I thought I lost an hour of time lmao
Been watching rslash since the pandemic started. I don't officially start my day till I drink coffee, read e-mails, and listen to Rslash.
Wow I’m early!! Having a better day now with Rslash
Lol I watch your videos everyday I never miss a video
As someone who works in debt dispute, the first story made my skin crawl. One of my duties is deleting accounts if we accidentally reached out after a cease and desist. We have automated systems to try and stop this because "holy lawsuits Batman"
Spicy Nuggets
Your burning my mouth
I agree
First lets goo
You are first Congrats
*eats*
Entitled person: SO SUE ME!!
Lawyer: ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE!!!
Day six of trying to convince Rslash to wish me a Happy Birthday (April 11th)
Happy early birthday 🥳
The Karen in the first story was so mean! I was really hoping for her to be fired in the end.
The lawyer should have sent his bill to the ambulance company, after all *they* hired him to sue them!
early vid pog
As a young Architect I strongly agree with the OP in the last story.
“His life was so boring he came into work two hours early.” That is certainly a statement from a person from a younger generation than me not understanding that in the “old” days the job market was much much worse than anything seen in last 25 years.
There is also a lot of bad lawyers who threaten to sue over everything and never follow up too.
The job market in 07-10 was the worst I've ever experienced
The lawyer REALLY, shouldn't have settled. After all, the lady said she would see him in court.
Suppose even a broken clock is right twice a day. Way to go Texas!
Oooooh! How much I DESPISE nurses on power trips.
Well done MC!
Bonus.
Never, ever tell a lawyer to sue you.
7:07 OP should've said "because you told me not to"
Why is everyone so nice in the comments? 🥺
I guess everyone's in a good mood (:
lawyer rule #1:NEVER TELL A LAWYER TO SUE YOU
The reason Bob told her to pick up all the tools was that he wanted to see her clean. Clean for him. Because that is what a woman is Supposed to do. He was belittling her and trying to make her feel lesser.
I don’t understand what makes that kind of person. What could have happened to them? It’s sad.
4:00 she had it coming. She had it coming. She only had herself to blame.
What kind of uncivilised country allows charging for ambulances?
