Hey youtube!
It’s sly, (back at it again). And oh man, where to start. Well if you follow me on Instagram and watch my stories, which I know a lot of you do, (thank you). You’ll know that here in Chicago we’ve been going through the worst, coldest and wettest part of winter lately in Jan & Feb 2020. It’s been a battle against cold, salt, Ice and snow.
While I continue to heal and strengthen up and get back into the float life, I created this video as an “interim” video to my upcoming 2020 videos.

So I gotta ask, did you take off the fins in 2020 for recovery purposes or just looking for a different ride experience? I would love to get curb nudges and bonks down without the fins, but I just can’t stay dedicated to riding without fins. Stay shredding man, the community loves you
Thank you!!! That means a lot. No fins is a mix of cutting out risk and the opportunity to re-learn riding without them. I don't think I'll use fins until the later part of this year, at least. It's just too soon since my surgery.

Just wanted to say thanks for influencing my decision in getting a OW+ XR, I used to skateboard just cruising fast on regular boards and off-road boards, and the Onewheel is basically what I wanted those boards to do back when I was a teenager. Took it out for the first time yesterday, so much fun getting back into the float life! Thanks again!

Was really fascinated about one wheels then my friend bought one and let me ride. I eased on it and tried hopping on in gravel first I skated and rode hoverboards prior to my first one wheel experience Ir was super taxing on my legs at first but I was super jittery on it. Then in about an hour I got the balance memorized and started riding it literally feels like you're floating it's like nothing else my top speed with confidence to cruise is about 20.4 and I've maxed at 26 3. Love one wheels

I'd love to hear the street sounds mixed with your occasional commentary to the camera. Chicago Bros ... seem like good guys though. I've always vibed with Chi-town dudes, and I have definitely always appreciated Windy City women. This might be a dumb question, but I wouldn't have issues riding goofy, would I? I just wasn't sure if the footpads are down with that.
I know a few people that prefer to ride the board backwards. You can ride it both ways, but battery first just makes it nose heavy and rides a lil different.

Question, why don't you ride with flight fins anymore? Just waiting for your knee to heal? Been thinking about getting some but not sure if worth it cause they are for sure overpriced!
It is safe to assume the at least 1/4 of the people that watch your videos are pooping. For example, I watched this video over the course of 5 poops.

Have you ridden concave pads? How would you rate riding tucked into fins vs extra concave if you have?
Griptape is the most important thing IMO. Locking into fins adds maneuverability but also can get dangerous. I don’t ride with fins anymore.

Np. My favorite concave pad is the Kush High btw. Great comfortable shape. I don’t use front concave .
@@slydogstroh I was looking at the Kush. Looks unique to use a medium duo plastic like that. Do you feel like it affects your front foot's need to dig in as much? I come from a downhill longboard background so the idea of only having rear concave seems bizarre to me but it seems like by getting more leverage with your back foot you don't have to dig in so much with your front going toeside.

I had the originals. Flightfins can definitely help you carve harder! I used to use them with a Vega tire.

Thats why I ride full face sport bike helmet $99 it protects your neck and collor bones. I have had 3 19mph+ Superman's into the concrete and 8 or so in the grass while covered in this shit and these will keep your injury from happening again.

The best part is I'm not afraid of taking risks or trying somthing that has a higher chance for failure.
The material is similar material that's in that Batman begins movie. The stuff actively reacts to impacts and expands and wraps around your joints Bob distributing the impact over the full area of the pad instead of allowing the impact to stay focused it defuses and then shrinks in nano seconds.
It's Reactive armor.

It's stronger and protects better than the thick rigid pads. Yet they're lighter and far more flexible it's like wearing a second skin. I wear it under my clothes and I'm a skinny swimmer kind of body and you can't tell I'm wearing it 😈. The days I ride my XR in to work I wear it all day no one's the wiser that it's under my clothes. It's like wearing an undershirt its thin.
I always freak out other riders by sticking a beer bottle into the elbow forearm protector an tell them to hit the rapped bottle on concrete, steal, wood as hard as you think you need to break the bottle.
No one's broke the bottle yet! 😂.
But the looks on their face is priceless 😍.
Might take you awhile to afford every peace as it did for me but focus on the joints and then work your way to the chest then short thigh and tell bone protection.
These knee pads are the best and design for sliding not sticking and stopping you. Trust me when you're flying forward at 15 plus miles an hour you want to slide, you don't want to stick.

How is the knee my friend?
Pretty good! I’m testing at 92% now (compared to my good knee) and continually getting better. Less swelling from riding all day, etc. I’m only at 7 months post op so definitely have time and room to improve.
@@slydogstroh I'm glad for the recovery. You seem most at home when gliding I can imagine how bored you must have been confined straight out of the operation

14:28 Definitely struggling with the jelly legs lately as a newbie to the Pint!
Be patient, take it slow. Learn to carve, and it will all fall into place. Started riding my Pint in mid-November, and have 300mi under my belt this winter. By no means an expert, but the shaking legs, loose ankles and tired feet have all cleared up for the most part. The only thing that hasn’t faded is the stoke... 5miles minimum every day, and they quickly add up! Float on!
@@tomphillips7858 Uh oh I hit 500km today since January and my feet and thighs still hurt by the end of the week!
Maybe I just can't get enough of the stoke and I'm riding too much :P
Joshua King Still get the slight cramp in the feet early in my rides, but if you charge through, things warm up. If not, I always jump off and give them a stretch... usually works. But, some days are better than others.
But the riding continues, cause that just not an option. 😂
