10:40 - This attribution is wrong. “All By Myself” was released by Eric Carmen in 1975. Celine Dion covered it 20 years later in 1996. It’s built with parts by Rachmaninoff and The Raspberries but it’s Carmen’s song, not Dion’s. David Foster made her arrangement, Eric Carmen is the songwriter of record. Masha Mnjoyan did an amazing job with her cover of this great Carmen tune.
@@kptaindijo - but she didn't. She sang her own version of it. Celine Dion's only connection to the song is that she recorded it once like lots of others have done.
@@kaiser_suzi_ I agree with you that maybe the reason the attribution is wrong is because the show staff or the performer are too young to know the real author but that's exactly why it IS a big deal. It should be noted that also on this clip is a performance of "Wuthering Heights" which was properly attributed to Kate Bush even though Pat Benatar's cover of it years later made the song famous for a whole other generation. So, even applying your theory, the criteria for attribution is not consistent. When true information gets lost across generations who aren't "old enough to remember" it is more important than ever to get the record straight. The original artist deserves at least that much.

It’s built with parts by Rachmaninoff and The Raspberries but it’s Carmen’s song, not Dion’s. David Foster made her arrangement, Eric Carmen is the songwriter of record. Masha Mnjoyan did an amazing job with her cover of this great Carmen tune.
I think they wrote celine dion because she sang celine's version of all by myself
