Fresh Market was my favorite grocery store when I lived in New Orelans! It sounds funny but it's one of the biggest things I miss. I totally understand going there for the vibes.
I now live super far from here... and there is a local Fresh Market but its not quite as good haha, so I guess I've officially acostombrarse a Uruguay, and I just shop at Tata (most of the time)
Yes I have actually tried this but it is not really the same as tofu! It is a nice option to have, but I love it when tofu is nice and smooth and silky, and making this at home requires soybeans and a more powerful blender than what we have.
Always nice to get a video on life in Uruguay. Keep them coming! I'm certainly interested in cost of living and life there in general whenever you get a chance (I do follow you on IG as well, so I get a bit of general life there). I'm especially curious about the fruit and vegetables at the ferias. I'm also interested in whatever Asian ingredients are available there, from vegetables to sauces, and for Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Thai cooking. And, in addition to the prices and varieties of tofu, I'm also curious to know about fish and seafood. Thanks! Have a great week!
Uruguayan here. I can't tell you with 100% certainty because I don't usually eat those types of food, but historically asian immigration to the country has been pretty low (and in general it's also pretty recent), so we haven't developed a big market for those foods, outside of maybe a few items sold at supermarkets and stuff. I think the situation has improved in recent years, but overall there's still not a super great diversity of asian foods here. And definitely mostly in the Montevideo area (I know there are some restaurants and shops owned by asian people in the Centro and Ciudad Vieja neighbourhoods where you can get some more typical foods or ingredients, but it's not a generalized thing)
@@Alfonso162008 Thanks! I've found a couple of places in Montevideo using Google Maps, but it's the whole stretch all the way out to Punta del Este that I'm curious about. That would give us more options for where to live. One thing I know about Asian culture is that they don't adapt easily to local Western cuisine.
I could eventually, but this is not really a cooking channel, are you looking for examples of things specifically that are available in Uruguay? Because i could recommend other vegetarian creators in Uruguay who could be more helpful
Very interesting to watch! As an Italian I was very surprised to hear such prices because almost most of the goods you showed would be cheaper in my country. It is kinda sad if we consider the average salary people earn in Uruguay compared to the one in Italy. However, I guess such differences in prices must derive from two main factors: 1) Italy is the biggest food producer in the EU and can manage to be almost fully self sufficient in terms of import of food; 2) food imported mostly comes from other EU countries, on which no commission taxes nor quotas are applied (making the import costs much cheaper than what it would be without the single European market). Thanks for the video🥰
In Uruguay a professional has a higher salary than in Italy. Or do you see social revolts in Uruguay? I spent 2 months living in your country last year. But don't believe me, you have Google. See for yourself.
I am coming to Uruguay in next week and will stay there for next 1 year . Thanks for your videos. Its easy for me now 😊
Great helpful videos!! 😊
Glad they are helpful! :)

I want to see the full tour of Disco Fresh Market.

Nice video. You can make tofu fairly easily from lentils btw; just need a food processor or blender.
