Sweeet.i used to work on those trucks.for SAUNDERS LEASING.then RYDER bought saunders out.how much would it cost me to get a copy of those decals you got....thanks
Very interesting video. I am 60 but will get one of these kits purely for sentimental reasons. When I was ten years old I had the original kit that you earlier reviewed which I got in 1973 which I painted and industrial light yellow colour. I intend to get one of those ‘original’ red kits kits also. I can tell you that the instruction book and kit is exactly as I remembered it. I also had the non-sleeper IH Transtar conventional ( bonneted model) . I wish that I had them both still. IH made beautiful trucks during that period. Great memories. Thankyou. Kind Regards, Michael Butler Brisbane, Queensland AUSTRALIA.
I really want one of these to go with my original 4070 CO. I hope I can find one online since I can't get to a hobby shop. Thanks for sharing Tim will be watching your build. Have a great weekend buddy. Terry
Aaaaa very cool Robert!! Yes, the kit is awesome. I ended up getting the trailer too and those decals for it sure are wild. I think you and I will be glad we got the kits (especially the trailer) as I'm not seeing those around much any more.
I like that kit a lot. One thing I never understood about trucks of that era of this one is that a lot of trucks had Bud wheels on the front and spoke wheels on the rear. Just made ya have to carry two spare tires inside of one. Sorry. Just rambling. Lol. Great kit nonetheless. Keep up the great work Tim and thank ya for the review!!!
When I first saw this presented I thought why???? But now that I have a good look at it I think it would be cool to have a full blown Rat Fink big rig! Thanks Tim! 🚛
That is a really nice kit being a rat fink fan I was excited to see this i am a bit disappointed that the only real difference is the water slides i love they are releasing rat fink stuff but it would be really nice if they included a fink figure in these kits
I'm building the first release of this new tool kit. The only difference in the kits is the decal sheet and the fact the rat fink kit didn't come with the old build sheets and color guides from International dealerships. I got this kit also, don't get me wrong, those rat fink decals are worth the price to me! Ain't gonna use them on the model, but they will be cropping up on a lot of different things! So far I've been happy with the build.
LOL, if something doesn't follow me home from the hobby shop I start to wonder if I'm feeling alright. I still haven't got the first version of this truck but I most definitely want to get this Rat Fink version. I notice they use the flying eye in the box art and the decals, but wasn't that Von Dutch's thing? That's kool though as one can always use a some flying eyes. Thanks for sharing Tim.
I keep seeing this one at my hobby shop, hasn't followed me home.. yet. Love the rat fink themed, I'm always little scared cause I keep failing on my big rig builds.
nice, looking, Rig. may, have to get me one. be watching to see how it goes. thanks for sharing. take care, till next time. have a great day. Happy-New-Year. thanks. mike.
Nice looking truck, Tim. 👍🤩The parts look very nicely moulded, I didn't see any flash or bad sink marks👍🤩I'm tempted to try and find one for the decal sheet alone😂😂😂👍🤩Thanks for showing and best wishes from jolly old, 👍😎Pete 🤓
Hey guys I just ordered another Rat aFink co 4070 A and 2 trailers l00king for a Rat fink figure to mount on the front of the build I am currently working on
Looks like a well-designed kit. I'm going to look for your other video you mentioned where you compared two of these kits from different years to get a look at the decal's. I am a Rat Fink fan, but I think I would like a different variation of decals.
So, is the Rat Fink kit identical to the two on the shelf behind you? I believe they are. I also noticed a Turnpiker up there - now that is an awesome kit.👍
@THROTTLE POWER Well, I think I have the Turnpiker - I've been divesting myself of kits over the last two years, selling over 200 thus far. I have to do a new inventory next week. If I don't find it you'll probably hear me yelling.😲
I can understand your feelings on that but for me it was. I wanted the Rat Fink decals (huge Rat Fink fan and have been my entire life) so that type of decal sheet would cost around $10 if offered separately. Probably $15 if you had to have it shipped.
@@THROTTLEPOWER I agree on the decal sheet cost, and I'd consider the decal sheet itself, but I don't need a second 4070, I'll be lucky if I ever build the first one 😉
I have the original kit so I guess I'll just stick to building that. I've have not seen that kit at the hobby shop, just the other one that came out. It was very expensive. Like Stash Project says another 10spot for an already expensive kit isn't really worth it. I liked your suggestions when reboxing your parts, but you should also wrap your chrome trees with paper towels to keep them from getting scratched. Have a good weekend.
Local Hobby Shop?? What is that? We don't have a LHS here in Montana. Sad , as I grew up with 4 hobby shops in my home town. That was also 50+ yrs ago. Thanks for the review...
Do you have a favorite cement? I assume the Testors orange and white tube I used in 1970 isn't the best anymore. I read one guy used superglue, that seems a bit drastic. Your opinion sir?
Yes I do...... I actually shot a video of my favorite glues, edited it, went to post it, but found out my Favorite was discontinued. So I scrapped the vid... Ugggggggg!! That glue was Model Master in a black square bottle with a needle tip. I'm using Faller glue now (#170490) it's basically the same stuff with a needle tip. My other Favorite glue is Tamiya Extra Thin (has a green cap) I love my Tamiya glue! But those are for the plastic pieces and NOT for the glass. You can still get the tube glue, several guys still like it. For the glass parts you will need a white glue (any glue that turns clear). The super glue is mostly used for resin or resin parts. (Some guys will use super glue on plastic because they want the bond right now) or for joining different types of materials together. For an example, I did a video installing valve stems. Pretty much have to use super glue in that case. Hope that gets you pointed in the right direction, any other questions, feel free to ask!!
My local shop has the Rat Fink truck, several of them in fact, but not the standard AMT kit. Is the Rat Fink model the same as the non-Rat Fink except the decals? I prefer to buy from my local shop.

When I build mine I'm going to use 1 of these 2 colors (pending on which color I can get at the time) Tamiya TS-52 Candy Lime Green or Testors Extreme Lacquer Lime Ice.... Both are spray cans and both are beautiful greens for that truck!
Really excited about building this kit.👍
