You did a great job and I approve. 🇨🇺 🥪 ❤️ If anyone is wondering, traditional mojo is made with sour orange juice- no zest- but using half lime and half orange will taste very similar, and is something many Cubans do. It isn’t made with chilis, cumin or mint. We use onions instead of shallots and dried oregano instead of fresh. Your sandwich assembly is pretty spot on. The most traditional way is mustard on one slice and butter on the other. This looks VERY tasty and like an elevated Cuban sandwich.
Shallots are better for marinade then Onions as they do not have the strontg onion spell but still contain all the wonderful onion flavor. Im puertorican not Cuban but that change to the Mojo was fine. My gripe was that he removed the bone fromthe pork, just butterfly the meat open and keep the bone in as it releases alot of flavor.

I had a Torta Cubana last time I was in Mexico, it was delish, crusty crunchy toasted bread and very rich in ingredients. Love ❤️ that you included the bread 🥖 recipe. The right bread makes a BIG difference.
You really trying to torture my empty fridged ass during quarantine aren’t you?

@some people.... Don't usually have... You know.... A regular salary??? Some people live of the sales of their business??? Omg do you read the freaking news?
@ I'll just assume you don't have enough understanding capabilities for a normal conversation and call it a day. Bye.
I'm a purist; I grew up in Florida and spent half of my 20s there and I honestly consider the Cuban a State staple just like Georgia does it's peaches, so I *want* to take a fat dump on you. But god damn it, I can't. That shit looks tasty and you made a phenomenal sandwich. And the fact that you're making it accessible to everyone is awesome.
This video was as fun and insightful as the rest of your videos are. Keep up what you're doing; it makes cooking at home fun and helps a lot of young people with budgeting / saving money. I always look forward to your videos!

@@yassinaboumadina4178 How do I unsee this lol
as a cuban from miami i can honestly say this looks like the best cuban sandwich i've seen from anyone who isnt a middle aged cuban woman in a cafeteria. 10/10 respecc on the culture
Everyone else: cuts bread with a bread knife
Josh: cuts bread with his extra extra extra sharp chefs knife.
Weird flex, but okay Josh, I see you
Chef knives are actually better for cutting sandwiches
You just dont wanna use a chef knife on hard crusty bread 'cause it will dull it pretty fast.
It's so nice to see the comment section isn't filled with angry Cubans claiming he got it all wrong.
He got it all wrong
bentleyr00d that’s because Cubans don’t have access to our internet😂
@@NichollBros I have Internet and that's Cuz it looks good af
@@NichollBros you know the saying: be there or be square?
They aren't here cause they are cubes
he's wrong!! he's supposed to burn it black! thats how you make food!
Being a Cuban American from Miami.... This looks pretty authentic minus the sour orange but they are hard to find. I like his quick Cuban bread. Usually you make a starter 12 hours ahead of time but this method looks great too! Nice job Joshua
"You dont need a whole video just for a sandwich" Ummm hell yeah we do. Especially when its an homage to the greatest sandwich ever known to man
Joshua: *Coughs many times throughout the video*
Me: 😶

Great job! As a Cuban I know how great Cuban sandwich’s taste. Here is how we make mojo , garlic , salt, pepper , and oregano. Also add naranja agria ( sour orange) that’s all it takes. The amounts are to taste but the mojo should taste salty to marinate the meat. Great job as always
When you find out Cubanos isn't Cuban Thanos:
_"My dissapointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined."_
Tis true. Am Cuban. Never had this sandwich. But it looks good
My life is a lie
It's from cuban immigrants in Florida i think
@@mrastleysghost Yup here in Miami you can get these at any Cuban bakery
its from cuban immigrants. my cuban cousins in cuba dont have access to most of these ingredients all the time
Josh's girlfriend refusing to put down the bread is me
I made the bread, and the smell while it was baking took me back to my childhood growing up in Cuba. Great recipe!
Josh: You wanna know what else won’t ever have a better sandwich in its life?

Hey, Josh! I did, not only my first Cuban bread ever, but my FIRST bread ever! And it came out great! I had to take a few liberties due to missing some of the tools, but all-in-all I feel super proud of it. Thank you so much!
Should've invited Binging with Babish for this. You know how he feels about Cubanos.
How so? That guy its, also, amazing.
@@RicardoPoleo It's more of a nod, because Andrew is a sucker for Cubanos and Chef.
And add Jon Favreau to the guest list and you're all set.

I don’t know if you’re going to read this Josh, but I just made this at home and it was fabulous! A fantastic recipe and everything turned out almost quite like you made it. Thank you so much for posting this video and all the others! Keep up the good work! Your fucking awesome!
I love it when people try cuban food as a cuban. makes me so happy.
Yes we do need a whole video!
7:38 is such a mood. I literally almost cry when I eat food that is just 👌
I am a Cuban-American living in Miami and I approve this message.
Good job Poppa Josh!!!
This is nice and all but can we take a moment to appreciate this beautiful, surgically clean kitchen?
Also that's the fanciest microwave I've ever seen... So many buttons!
That mojo still waiting in the fridge to be used later
For real, do we know what that is reserved for?
Thats enough to marinate a chicken breast👀
Shrimp taco marinade.
I'm a Key Wester. This looks like a Cuban Mix sandwich; a local must eat. The midnight is pressed. White Street used to smell like Cuban Bread every morning and the smells battled with the Cuban bakery where treats were made early in the morning. Guava and cheese filled the island around five in the morning mixing with jasmine fragrance from the plants that bloomed all night. Cafe Con Leche or Bucci to wash down a Cuban Mix and... wow!
I love how he makes it look so easy and encourages you to beleive in yourself and to try! It's awesome :)
Watch on .75x speed and dude sounds like he smoked really good stuff
😂😂😂😂😂
As a fellow Cuban I give you a certificate of approval
Josh in 2020: Yeah this bread recipe might not be authentic, but it's close enough!

I always end up watching food content when I fast. It’s weird.
Made this recipe a few times now. The meat alone is worth making, SO GOOD.
"looks like diarrhea" i...don't think any of us were thinking that but ok.
The fact that his girlfriend doesn’t weigh 457 pounds, blows my mind. I would for sure weigh 458 pounds if my husband cooked like this lol!
@Ashvin Vaidyanathan Unless Joshua is a feeder. I see that malicious gleam in his eye.
I made this sandwich!!! I just used chicken instead of pork because I don’t eat pork!! It came out great! I’m super happy I made pickles, chicken, and bread from scratch! It was super good I love all your vids and this is probably the fourth or fifth one I’ve made! Just wanted to thank you for the recipes!

I'm from Tampa and can confirm, this recipe does a great job at honoring the Cuban Sammich. Well done. ❤❤❤👏🏼👏🏼🇨🇺🇺🇸
Im Cuban and this was made to perfection.
I'm so excited to hear that endorsement, I've been trying to crack the pan cubano code for my Cuban boyfriend for a long time, AND he just bought me a stand mixer.
the music at the beginning is call El Presidente Bassio :)
First on about 20 yrs ago. Folks making it were in a small town east of Madison WI, but we're Cuban-Americam and Pueroto Rican-American. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had!
If you're the type of person to say, "All that work for a sandwich?" Than you're the kind of person whose favorite food is plain buttered noodles.
Please, don't insult our boy Abed or buttered noodles like that
This was totally just the real life version of Jake's Perfect Sandwich.
Just made this and the mojo pork is booomb!!! The marinade and sauce is what makes it better than the cubanos I've had. Smells amazing!!! I used store bought bread and I can only imagine how much better it would be making the bread from scratch!!
The best Cuban I've had was from a little Cuban coffee shop in the frontier terminal at the Orlando airport.
f150 man wait til u have one in miami
@Hall of Legends 6365 my apologies I don't remember it was 3 yrs ago.
"Josh we don't need a whole video just for a sandwich"
You have like 10 videos dedicated to sandwiches. No one is thinking that though.
Good job with the Cubano.. I'm Puerto Rican but live in Tampa where the sandwich was invented in Ybor City. Happy to see that you used all the right ingredients and took the correct steps. Kudos, great sandwich and video.
