The Law (this includes the Ten Commandments in Exodus 20 and all the Levitical instructions) was given to the Jews. Jesus perfectly fulfilled the Law of the covenant with the Jewish people and established a new covenant with those who believed in Him which would include both Jews and Gentiles (promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34 and fulfilled by Him - Hebrews 8:6-13). The New Covenant consists of a union between Christ and His church based on faith in Him as Son of God and fulfilled as believers express their faith through love of God and others. There is no longer any Sabbath day observance since all who believe in Jesus enter into His eternal rest. Those who want to continue observing a religious Sabbath must also obey the other ordinances demanded by the “Law” which would include animal sacrifice and food regulations etc. or else be in disobedience. There are many righteous requirements in the New Covenant that were in the Old Covenant (ie. living a pure life, loving one’s neighbor, speaking truth, worshipping God properly etc.) but Sabbath day observance was not one of them. - MM
