    Glad to have found you! I'm dealing with the same problem on a Sanyo SD-12. On mine you can change the three belts just by removing the motor and flywheel. My FF and RW still slip however.

    Not an expensive deck, but glad you saved it, even cheaper audio equipment have beauty.

    That was a struggle, but you have never been one to give up easy, hopefully the customer is happy :-).
    That motor looks like it has the number 81, so that belt lasted long enpugh.
    It sounds fine, the head gap can't be too wide not to pickup the top end.
    I still have a tape deck, it's a Pioneer CT 200 with the touch buttons and deck solinoids, also an odd deck control chip.
    Analog meters, i like real meters as well :-D
    Shame there isnt a firmware fix for the camera :-(

    Yeah, some of us still enjoy recording cassette tapes from our digital files, CDs, or old records. And tapes are not that difficult to find either. We are probably crazy but it takes all kinds you know!

    Nice fix. It's sad that the heads are so worn on my old machines. I recorded lots of reel to reel tapes but now the frequency response is terrible on the old recordings.

    Dave...!
    About the limit of the files...
    Its the filesystem that messes it up for you. FAT32 has a limit of 4000 files.
    Try format the card to NTFS insted of FAT32...!

    • @dr.zarkhov9753
      @dr.zarkhov9753 4 года назад +2

      Great idea which in theory should fix it but I'd bet that if reformatting in the camera, it would probably only really allow FAT32 which means that an NTFS format might not be recognized.

    • @12voltvids
      @12voltvids  4 года назад +2

      @@dr.zarkhov9753 not FAT32. Card is EXFAT by default as it is a 128G card. In HD mode the camera breaks the files in 4 gig file chunks, but in 4k mode it can record right up to the size limit of the card as 1 file.

    I know you're a busy guy but maybe you have an answer.
    I have a Tascam 133 and it rewinds but won't auto stop at the end of tape. FF ok. Right reel stops but left one (counter wheel) keeps going, spinning on the spindle center. Teeth are engaged so it spins out on the clutch I'm guessing. There are sensors in there somewhere but I'm not sure if it's a electrical problem or a physical one. If I push on the idler wheel inside it stop immediately. 🤔
    I have a couple of vids on my channel showing it. Any help appreciated before I tear into it.
    Thanks from Wales. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

    I have a rds 21 that looks similar but the problem I'm having it's not playing rewinding or fast forwarding. All the belts are spinning but something isn't engaging the gear that's suppose to shift to turn the cassette. There's an arm in their I can move manually to link up with the drive gear but I can't figure out why it won't move on it's own. I apologize I don't know all the correct terminology but I usually figure out the issue when I open these up

    my pioneer ct-f2121 has no rewind... you can see the drive train going... nothing... the magnetic coil spring and lever just pops. really hard to move by hand... Also have an rd5340 on the bench... belt config? no service manual... old belts were just about tar,, stretched out and off the pulleys...

    That loos almost identical to a pioneer deck I had, the meters are slightly different in colour and the knobs for volume have a slightly different surround, but otherwise I could slap the Pioneer badge on it! Could it have been made in the same factory?

    Nice repair Dave! It doesn't surprise me that RUclips allows you to download royalty free music and at the same time send out copyright claims/strikes, the artificial intelligence running it has to deal with all kinds of cross licensing, etc and we all know how screwed up large software systems tend to be and now we've allowed a very small segment of humanity, to give machine control over all of it?
    Check out Tom Scott's video on the broke copyright system that's causing everyone's headaches. I found it to be very informative. We may not all agree on the way it all works and what he's suggesting as a cure but it's clear, something needs to be done. What happened to fair use? and if the content ID is already diverting monetization away from you, directing it to all the proper rights holders, then why should anyone care? Hahaha, yeah those goddamn lawyers. A necessarily evil in an advanced society. Maybe it's the bias built in by the programmers? Since the AI is still in it's infancy it some ways and hasn't been able to 'learn' how all the various complex relationships deciding who owns how much of a thing, it might get a lot more complex at intersection of other's rights to a different piece of the same thing. And as always Dave, thanks for sharing your expertise with all of us viewers.

    I’ve got a cassette deck that develops some bad wow and flutter towards the end of the sides of longer tapes such as some C90s or C120s, and it also has the slow rw and ff, what could it be do you reckon?

    Sounds like you need a window air conditioner. That's the cheapest way to do it if you have a window. Otherwise, you'll have to either make a hole in the wall or go with ductless which is nice but costs more.

    It may have been easier for the owner to simply use fast forward and ignore rewind; or record the whole tape to computer (or other device) then edit as required; but each to their own. Just saying.

    I love your videos, and you always do a great job. I'm just wondering why you didn't clean the plastic pulleys off before you pulled the belts over them. There could have been grease or oil on them causing the belts to slip when they're turning. Maybe I'm just anal, but those things looked really dirty and greasy to me.

Surely no ones that dumb not to know that's all it needs", Anyway after taking a long hard stare at it's Innards they chickened out and got to thinking who-TF can they get to change it for them.. 😃
