When we buy something new, Roy is the first one who comes investigating it. I was sure that he wouldn't panic if I turned on the vacuum cleaner but I was impressed that he didn't leave for almost two minutes. Typically, this is how I show them a noisy appliance. They have time to investigate it then I turn it on without moving it and they can leave whenever they want.
By the way, we didn't know that mattress vacuum cleaners were a thing until our lovely neighbors mentioned it. It's amazing how much dust and cat hair it removes from our bed and furniture even though we regularly clean/wash them. It's worth looking into it, especially if you have dogs or cats.
Roy and Moss are Norwegian Forest Cats from Hungary living in Switzerland.

I've honestly never heard of a mattress vacuum. Is there anything unique about it versus a tool head that attaches to a floor vacuum's hose? I see that Miele makes a "mattress nozzle" that would attach to our Miele U1 vacuum, but it looks very similar to an attachment that comes with the vacuum.
@@joshcarter-com You can use it on mattresses, beddings, pillows and upholstered furniture. It has a very strong suction (we bought one of the strongest one that is recommended for pets).
It also has UV light mode and it heats up the cleaned surfaces so it supposedly kills mites. For me the best thing is that removing cat hair and dust from furniture became very easy. We have a regular Miele vacuum cleaner too and we are satisfied with it but the attachment that is available here is not effective enough to collect cat hair so we also had to go through our furniture manually with a lint brush/roller.
Our neighbors lent us their mattress vacuum so we were able to try it out before decided to get one.
What an expressive face! 💕🇨🇦
Thank you ❤
Roy is brave he just doesn't care for the noise.❤
Thank you ❤
I think that despite his apparent bravery, the airplane ears tells it all!
I think you're right. Without fear, there is no bravery. His eyes and ears demonstrated wariness, but he stayed with "mom" nonetheless!
They are much more relaxed around noisy things than an average cat but yes, it won't be his favorite thing for sure. He always watches my reaction and if I'm relaxed, he won't panic. After I have used it a few times, they ignore it completely.
The dreaded vacuum monster 🙀🙀
Such a brave cat! Good job, Roy.
My catbeast hates vacuum cleaners. When I loved with my roomie and the roomba was started, he stared daggers at it until it bumped against whatever he used for a perch. Then he would hiss, jump down, and go into my bedroom and up on the table
Haha 😂 It's interesting that he hates the roomba too. Most cats more likely tolerate robot vacuums than regular vacuum cleaners. Roy and Moss treats our robot vacuum as a noisy, unpleasant guest. They are not afraid of it but annoyed by it. They absolutely ignore it; when they are sitting in the robot's way, they won't move until the robot almost bumps into them.
@@RoyandMoss Right?
All other cats I've met either completely ignores robot vacuums (unless, as you say, they bump into them) or likes sitting on them 🤭
I think it's because he figured out that the robot was the reason that everything was moved off the floor - and he *hates* when things are moved around
Regular vacuum cleaners he hides from.
Drága Roy..hogy tartottál tőle! szerintem azóta már megbarátkoztál vele!🥰😻💞
Barátok nem lettek, de már megszokta a hangját😊
He's brave. Alot of kitties are terrified of vacuum cleaners ❤❤❤
❤ Yes, most cats are very afraid around noisy things.
👍😻😸❤️❤️❤️
He appeared to be skeptical but, as long as you were there and did not panic, Roy was willing to wait and see what developed. My two cats hated the "closet monster" ie: the vacuum sweeper. It didn't matter if we opened the closet door to grab a jacket or the vacuum, they scampered to their hiding places.
Yes and I love that he looks at me multiple times when he's not sure about a situation. 😊 Most cats hate these things. Roy and Moss don't like them either but I'm glad that they don't panic.
@@RoyandMoss You're absolutely right - hesitate, look at mom (or dad) for reassurance, look back at mom "are you _sure_? Can you really hear this monster's growl? They might double check your assessment, but you ARE their pack leader and they trust you!!
ps: I loved Roy's wide eyes and the movement of his ears in this one too! They spoke volumes!!
@@randy-9842 It's very interesting that even though they are very similar, Roy is much more expressive with his face than Moss. 🙂
Roy's curiosity: "Hooman, what is this 'vakoom' you use for the cloth and carpet surfaces?"
😂
He's not impressed. Exit stage left. 😅😅😅🐈
Haha, he didn't like it for sure 😅

The cat lost 2 years ago hated the vacuum… I just had to take it out and tell my grey baby “go hide for a bit” and he would go hide until the noise would stop… and of course he would inspect the house after 😂.
My dog barks at the vacuum… he has lot of habits my late cat had… they never met and my pup is about 15 months old but it s funny to see him behave like my cat did at times 😊.
Hope you and the boys have a quiet Fall for now.❤
That's very interesting, maybe your late cat had "dog like" character. 😊 Sometimes my cats (especially Roy) act like a dog.
Thank you! It's my favorite season and the boys love it too. It's not too cold, not too warm. Have a lovely day!❤
@@RoyandMoss the cat I lost had been brought to me so I would not feel too lonely (my partner back then worked shops hours or at night while I was an office worker so the scheduled hardly fitted). My big pup is with me so I must go out of the house and walk if weather allows… I have a severe fibromyalgia, he s helping me regarding my mood and to keep on my feet as much as possible so I m not in a wheel chair all the time.
I think both were/are in my life as guardian angels, thus them being alike somehow.
My girl Lilou has a dog side to her: despite being a cat, she used to walk around a field with me. Just had to call her and she d come running ;).
Have a great day too dear :)
@@katrin712 I'm sorry to hear about your health problems. Dogs and cats are amazing. They can help so much when their human feels lonely, sick, or struggling with pain, stress, etc.
@@RoyandMoss I d say my cat was not much help for me to walk and she s coming and going as she pleases so company is random. I just wish the two would get along but the youngest baby is too rambunctious for my old lady who is 10 and likes her peace. She mainly sees the dog as a way to have the door opened for her or a way to make her be noticed and get food ;)... Their dynamic can be hilarious 😆
My poor boy. 😿
Fortunately, they get used to noisy appliances very quickly. after I have used it a few times, they ignore it completely.
Your Mommy has such a wonderful way of introducing the vacuum cleaner to you Roy. But no one likes the loud sound. Just has to be done darling Roy. Love to everyone. ❤❤❤❤😢😢😢😢😮😮😮😮
@@RoyandMoss I am so happy for you and Roy and Moss. My poor darlings, over the years, have been terrified. Vamoose. I talk lightly or sing.
@@FrithGarcia Thank you ❤ Unfortunately, most cats don't tolerate these things well. My previous cats hated the vacuum cleaner too.
I love the ear rotation! So cute. 🤩❤️🐈
❤️
Hi my lovely Roy 😻 You're not scared, but you're a little annoyed 😼 Have a great Day and hugs for Moss ❤️😽
That's right, this thing is very annoying! Thank you, Have a lovely day ❤ 😽😽
Watching his ears register everything was fascinating! They are both such a delight!
I call them "Dancing ears" :-) Thank you! ❤
Much more reserved reaction than my cat... she'll leap to the ceiling and snarl at the vacuum cleaner.. even though she's seen me use it countless times. Then when I turn it off she'll stalk it as if it's prey for several minutes.. every... single... time.... She has the memory of an insect I think.
Haha 😂 The memory of cats is a mystery for me. Roy and Moss learn quickly. E.g. After using the vacuum cleaner for a few times, they ignore it completely. But they often forget that I gave them food even if it's their favorite. They eat small portions at a time: they eat, groom, repeat. But sometimes during grooming, they forget that they have food and they don't check their bowls, instead they come to me begging for food.
That is NOT a happy cat! 😆 Also, I was super happy to see my Roy & Moss calendar arrive recently! Wonderful photos and I loved that you marked their birthday.
😆 Thank you! I'm glad you like your new calendar ❤
