Good old RR Dart, what an iconic engine, the Merlin of the turbo props
Had never thought of it like that, but a very iconic engine.
Simply superb... thanks for sharing..!!( A treat for aviation enthusiasts. !!)
Y sobre el cielo de Lima..
Llegaron hasta la cima..
I remember in the good old days we did min torque calculations from a big, brass pressure gauge mounted on the inboard engine cowling so a colleague could see it through one of the cabin windows and yell out the numbers to you in the cockpit. The needle on the gauge shook so badly, accuracy was well nigh impossible, a fact that came in handy when plotting the torque onto a graph.
Christopher Land it’s called the master gear.
@@MonkPetite But the actual reading of the gauge, and the yelling is called: Real flying!!!
Great airplane in great engines. Just like the Gulfstream one.
I’ve never seen an engine with no discernible start! This just seems to slowly spool up to optimal revs with no obvious turn-over spot.
Wooo - those are shrill, reminds me of the Viscounts! With four, that sound carried a long way.
Listen to those igniters banging away!
I remember back in the 1960s when Bonanza Airlines had a fleet of these (or a similar variant) and I'd see them fly all the time. During their history only one plane was lost (outside Las Vegas due to pilot error, flying too low)
I remember seeing them all the time when landing at LAX, during the mid 70s. They looked like very good airplanes and they sounded wonderful. I don't think they make them as well as they did back then.
Worked a lot of these while a PI employee in ATL back in the 60's.
The RR Dart was/is a 2 stage centrifugal compressor turbo prop and thus was very reliable. I've flown in Argosy, Andover and the Vickers Viscount aircraft; the engine noise was actually quite pleasant. A simple turbo only bettered by higher power engines.
Melhor aeronave de todos os tempos. Saudades fácil pilotagem.
¡Gracias!
So satisfying😴
This aircraft is way better than the DC-3, the aircraft it was designed to replace
How many F-27s are entering their eight decade in service? Many of the C-47/DC-3s being converted by Basler are eighty years old.
@@stevehicks8944 F27's are being replaced because aircraft technology just evolves so quickly since the end of the war. If aircraft tech would evolve at the same pace as before the war, they would still be in place today.
@@vriesvak9094 You didn’t answer the question: how many F27s are entering their 8 decade of service? All aircraft eventually become obsolete. The OP said that the F28 was a better aircraft than the DC-3/C-47 but cannot provide one example of one still in service after 80 years. Basler is still doing turbine conversions on DC-3s/C-47s that are 80+ years old.
O pessoal do Old Christians do Uruguay não tem saudade nenhuma
What a stunning livery! lol
Old soldiers never die.
I have footage of a P3 Orion startup. There was a slight similarity between the two.
Que buenos recuerdos de cuando este modelo lo usaba la española Aviaco.
Same RR Dart powering the Japan made NAMC YS11 and Hawker Siddley HS748. Distinctive shrill sound like a whistle. Only the Philippine Air Force has the F27 in my country still flying.
Näistä koneista Utin laskuvarjojääkärit hyppivät ja Koiviston Maunoa nämä koneet myös usein kuljettivat. Me apumekaanikot sitten vaihdeltiin hyppyversiosta matkustusversioon. FF-2 ja FF-3 olivat silloin toiminnassa. Ja on nimenomaan tuo 400 sarjalainen.
Inesquecível som dessa maravilhosa turbina.👍🇧🇷
excelente combustión absolutamente "limpia"
The same plane used by the Malaysian Airline to serve the smaller inland districts
In 1991 , I was on a Fokker , (a trip of ~ 500 km ) , ~ 100km before landing , an the right engine , shutdown : there were no trabel , and we landed normally …
It was , in May 1991 , in Algeria , between Annaba to El-oued … the problem is resuled easly and take-off to Algiers , thirteen minutes after …
( what was the problem ? !…) , the important there were no cajultis 🤗
Are the F-27 still flying in Finland? Kitos from Norway!
No, all three FIAF F27 aircraft are retired now.Ole hyvä!
Esse avião é muito barulhento , esse é o famoso mata cachorro .

Didarat suaranya brising. F 27

They are/were so hard on the ears for me. The high pitch was *not* nice.
mata cachorro
That must be the smallest turbo prop I've ever seen
This is not an F.27-500......It would be a 400M...
Pretty much posible... guess these are still the Dart-7 engines
Not much sweeter than a Dart on song
