Looks like the upgrades are to be avoided in the MDR. They're cooking this stuff in those big kitchens and using the same ingredients they always use. Best to spend the money on Crown Grill.

Thanks for the great video - my wife and I have never paid the upcharge for steak or lobster on the MDR menu; just left that for the Crown Grill. We remember having the medallions on our last Princess cruise and they were very good. We also ate at the Crown Grill on the Sky Princess and the food was excellent.

We will be on the Sky Princess on 12/16/23 and it’s incredible how everything has changed so much. They used to freely give away as many lobster tails as i could eat. No questions asked. Now it’s an up charge. Oh well, that’s the way things go i suppose. I’ve been watching all of your dining review videos. We are very excited to our cruise and I hope the food is as good as it remember. We have reservations for Sabatinis, Crown Grill and Catch by Rudi. I don’t recall seeing a video from you at CBR. When you get something like that upcharged steak do you ever send it back. I would have. Did not look good. I thought the lobster would be dry based on how tough of a time he had getting it out. Never saw lobster served without at least the offer of butter??? Thanks for the tips.
We Usually Don’t Send It Back. However If The Food Was Inedible We Sure Would Which This Was Far From That. We Wanted To See If The Up Charge Was Worth The Value. For Us It Was Not. However Each Diner Will Have to Decide If This Is A Value For Them. Thank You So Much For Watching And Commenting

The chocolate dessert looked delicious. I’m disappointed in princess over the additional fees, but most lines are doing that now. Crown is our second favorite ship. Star being the first because she was our first sail. Enjoy the rest of your cruise and the next one.

Those dishes mentioned in the “make the evening special” extra should all be available on following nights. No? I’ve been 20 times on Princess and all those dishes always there during the course of the voyage. Mind you my last voyage was January this year. They may have changed their approach. If yes, 👎on Princess.

I believe Carnival Corps change to up charge for a lobster tail on all their “premium” cruise lines to match their mainstream cruise lines. I totally agree with Scott that if you want to up charge in MDR, you need to give me the best you could provide not subpar. I really do not know what Carnival Corps do with their “premium” cruise lines. I feel that we pay more to have exceptional experience while cruising. However, now a day the experiences are no longer prime as once was.
That is disappointing to see that no extra effort or quality spent on an upcharge steak. I will be sure to avoid MDR surcharge meals in my future sailing. Thank you for posting!
I like your honest reviews, both good and bad. I don’t understand why you don’t let them make upright when something isn’t good? A steak you paid extra for and didn’t eat because it was an end piece as you said and no different meat than the included steak, seems as though it should gave be3n sent back. It would be good to know how a cruise line corrects a wrong.
Sometimes We Do Send Items Back. The Nice Thing About Our RUclips Channel Is A Great Platform To Bring Awareness Both Good And Bad To Our Dining Experience Onboard We Have Noticed That Princess Food Of Late Has Really Improved. Overall We Were Impressed With Most Of Our Meals On Our Last Princess Cruise On The Emerald Princess. Even During This Voyage The MDR Was Showing Signs Of Improvement Since Cruising Resumed After The Shutdown. Thank You So Much For Watching And Your Thoughtful Comments 😀
