Your quilts are wonderful. Not only beautiful in their design but loaded with memories. It’s amazing that you have kept so much from previous generations and treasured them. You must make sure that your family appreciate these items and take care of them for future generations....even your amazing dolls, mice and dolls houses. I love them all.❤️Angela

I just discovered you!!! Oh my goodness I'm having such lovely flashbacks of my wedding dress in 1967... hand cutting the flowers from Chantilly Lace to hand applique onto the bodice and sleeves of my dress, with hand placed pearls that randomly followed the lines of the motifs. My mother made my beautiful dress with a drapping train... and created my lovely head piece and veil. We just celebrated our 55 Wedding Anniversary this past Christmas Eve (2022)... please keep sharing. Cheers

I was so happy to see another crazy quilt episode pop up! It can be quite consuming. I find myself eyeballing bits of lace and fabric everywhere. I've recently started a hoarder's crazy quilt to get rid of some of the material I hang onto to use someday...I have family clothing or material I just like that I never use but can't bear to part with. I am cutting a hunk off and making a square, I'm not worrying about color or placement, I can make it pretty with the embellishing. It is a use it or lose it quilt!

How do you attach the backing fabric to the finished embellished front square to anchor them both together? Also do you not find that cutting into a line of some of the lace strips it leaves an edge that frays.

I was mesmerized by the snow coming down outside as you sit cozy in your house, working on your patchwork projects. How much snow did you get that day.. It looked like it was coming down wet and heavy. I live in southern British Columbia where we do still get snow in the mountains around us and the skiers love that, but I'm just as happy if it stays up there on the mountains. Many times I have wanted to use my tidbits of lace that I have kept from many projects over the years, but I was always afraid I would either ruin it or miss it because all of it has special memories for me. My mother has remnants of lace that her mother and grandmother made by hand. It comes out to be admired from time to time, but I know Mom would never dream of actually using it. Mom is 86, so you can figure that some of that lace is probably close to 100 years old by now.

Very inspiring. 2 years ago, my parents moved from the north woods retirement home of theirs into the city, into Assisted Living. I have my mother’s wedding gown. She no longer cares about it, but I can’t part with it. Carlos, you & Arne have given me such inspiring ideas for this heirloom! Lots of tulle, lace, and shiny satin! The gown is nearly 70 years old now, and I will be using it for memory projects for her granddaughters. Christmas balls from wedding gowns is a category on Pinterest. Maybe you 2 would want to try some as well! Your white, satin and lace layered patchwork is stunning!! I’m off to try my hand at it! Thank you again.

Thanks for this video. These are great ideas. I make bobbin lace, but I don't always know what to do with it. There are only so many handkerchiefs and mats one can use. This type of tablecloth or bed covering is perfect. I can make small amounts of a wide variety of bobbin lace patterns, have fun doing it and use fabrics, beads and the lace to make larger items. That will be really fun!

So good to see you, once again, working on these beautiful quilt pieces. Arne, the stitch is called a running stitch. Just in and out, as you march along. I love these ideas... even for a midi skirt... I know, a little boho, but I love it. Reminds me of the 70s. or even the 1890s. Imagine an A line skirt to the floor with a gathered bustle and big bow in the back. Might have to be on the lookout for some high button shoes... lol

I think this would make a beautiful bedspread. They don't sell bedspreads anymore around this part of the U.S.A. If you want a bedspread, you have to make it (or hire someone to make it for you). You are working with a lot of fabrics that I would never wear. However, I do have some fancy scraps that I need to do something with. Thank you for this lesson.

I really understand you saving your grandmother's handmade lace for something special. I have several pieces made by my great-grandmother, and I'm still looking for the exact project to use it on. I also have my grandmother's wedding dress, made in Paris and is made of alternating strips of fragile pale pink silk ribbon and lace. The dress is over 100 years old, and the silk is disintegrating in places. Maybe in another 100 years I'll be ready to just recycle the lace. Oh, wait.......
