I was in junior high school when Deep Purple came out with this song. I've loved it since then, and still listen to it often. My daughter loves Highway Star too. Gretchen, you really nailed it. Well done!

Excellent playing! I saw Ritchie do this live in '74, right at his feet. It awakened me to the fact that there was life and music beyond the pentatonic.

Nice to hear you playing some Deep Purple. My favorite band my senior year in high school. Now I'm going back to 1973 when original guitarist Richie Blackmore played lead guitar. I saw them 6 times live. What a great band. Go back to their old stuff and listen to "A Child in Time" and "Speed King" if you havent already. Keep on rockin' Gretchen.

One of my favorite guitarists! And I mean you Gretchen! Ritchie's amazing but he is nowhere near as pretty! You make everything look so simple and I know that comes from hours upon hours of practice. Your devotion to your craft is clear. Amazing dexterity with your fingers.

Well done, saw him at the long beach sports arena in early 70's, I think it was either right before or after the MIJ tour and have followed him ever since, DP, Rainbow, I even saw his renaissance band Blackmore's Night, at the Wiltern a few years ago. He's always been my favorite, he's not the fastest but he sure feels the music. Keep up the good work.
Speed isn't always the most important aspect of playing, according to the late Leslie West. He sent a letter to Joe Bonamassa that said, 'You would be my favorite guitarist if you could divide by two'.
