This place has been on my bucket list for hong kong comfort food even though i've visited HK for 3 times but don't have a chance to visit yet. Hope once the Covid-19 ends this place still operated and i can taste this much anticipated food. Because i heard so many dai pai dong places are closing...
This place seems extremely busy but with both indoor and outdoor facilities, where to line up could be confusing. So how does it work? Is it a single line, and someone is there to issue out a number? I had been to other eateries in Hong Kong (not Dai Pai Dongs) and no matter how busy they were, even with a line, there was always a staff member at or near the door, eager to accommodate (and not lose a potential customer to the next-door competition).
Actually It is always crowded with people, we use to get a No. in the cashier and wait for it. As HongKong is a small and busy place and crowed with people.
@@YummyOliver How many store fronts does this place have? It seems like half the street is theirs. Are those 2 chefs the only ones doing the cooking in the whole place? They are really fast, especially the taller guy in the blue.
@@msbrownbeast I think almost half of the street, actually there are many tables indoor, but always full, people enjoy eating on the street,it is quite free and good atmosphere. I think only 2 chefs responsible for playing fire 🔥 🤣🤣, but they have supportive staff to help them prepare all the ingredients. There are less than 30 Daipaidongs in hongkong right now, as no more licenses will be issued by government because of many reasons.
@@YummyOliver I have never eaten at a Dai Pai Dong before, but just the sight of one, with the fragrant smell of the food, the vibrant atmosphere makes it all so enticing. I have walked along Temple Street in past visits and there are also outdoor eateries, but that area seems more touristy than up in Sham Shui Po. I will make a point of checking out this place on my next visit (when travelling opens up again). Those 2 chefs are amazing, just the 2 of them cooking for so many people. Yes, of course they need supporting staff to prepare and portion out the food to be cooked, but nevertheless, it's no easy task to stand in front of that inferno and virtually dancing with fire all night long. Kudos to them, I would hope that they earn a decent living out of doing this tough job.
@@msbrownbeast There are many DaiPaidong in Temple Street, but I think it is quite expensive and aim at tourists mainly. They can only cook the goods indoor because of the licenses, which is another atmosphere actually. I think the two chefs working in ShamShuiPo is well paid, and it is not easy for them, quite hot, especially in summer time. Because of their performances and characteristics of this DaiPaIDong it become local people's one of the favorite place for gathering. Welcome to HongKong and tks for watching.
I wish you can update this restaurant is it still in Shamshuipo?

What happens if it rains? Would it stay open?
Haha, there is a shelter over the cooking area, and customers can not eat outside anymore. 😅

Tao Chen 系甘依抖两下都算有锅气?厉害
Deng Sky
