“And he gives you this sniffing stuff, which, uh… makes it easier” is an amazing line made even more alienating and upsetting and hilarious by Mark Heap giving it the tiniest bit of a John Cleese inflection.
The sheer coziness of this sketch is unbelievable. Morris somehow makes this absurd conversation between fictional characters feel like a half-forgotten childhood memory. For a tiny moment, the kitchen in the sketch feels like the kitchen in the house where I grew up.
It’s genius. It has everything , including a subtle dig at attitudes to homosexuality, for the mother to go as far as she does in order for Ryan not to be gay.
As you realised, it was just used for the sketch. By chance I came across a website that has all the scripts and music listings for all of thr 6 series of JAM. I managed to download most of the music (around 65 tracks) and it's the best playlist on my IPod - Bark Psychosis, Coldcut, Brian Eno, The Third Eye Foundation, Funki Porcini, Moodswings... the list goes on and I not only love the series, but the music that Chris has introduced to me to... fantastic.
RUclips block links so do a search on google for: jam music bark coldcut channel 4 And it should be the second one down - the channel 4 site. It lists the complete music used in all the sketches. I also have a Word file with the complete transcript of all the episode's sketches - I can't remember where I found that but it's not on the net now. I've also searched and downloaded most of the music - about 60 of them - it took several months - and it's the best playlist on my IPod...
its so fucking po'mo, its like recursive comedy, brilliant! fuckstix, we are actually post post-modern "if you come upstairs Ill show you the things he does".... "ooooh"
when you get over the initial horrendousness it actually becomes quite clever. a dig at the moral double standards of homophobic parents and people in general
@DarkKnightBob1o1 Hmm, my last comment on this vid was 2 years ago, so I dont know if you have made a joke and gotten "FUKD & BOMBD" wrong on purpose or not! ha!

It gives the impression of being set in a world completely devoid of hope, meaning and joy
it is the kitchen you grew up in, ryan.
This is some scene to start a series
Cards laid firmly on the table.
The first time I saw this on C4 I was 18 and absolutely gobsmacked. Can't really think of anything else like it to this day.
Did you help Max with Ryan? We all wanted to...
Hugh Jones that’s the absolute worst possible way to watch Jam
The most sinister thing about Jam is that haunting, minimal music just gets under the skin and makes the sketches even more harassing.
also the fact that everything is slowed down lol... they sound like upper middle class opioid munchers
Ur listening to the magic of bark psychosis. Check them out, they're a very underrated band. Check this album called hex.
Oh my god this is fantastic the guy listening look at his face classic
@@melancholicat3132 just seeing this now thanks will do
@@carlpeel5580 very sinister but also funny
Jam is the most unsettling ASMR there is...
Ari Aster owes so so much to this sketch in particular
"if you drink QUITE A LOT, it's not so bad"
marvellous!
Imagine being Morris, the dreams he must have at night
I like you mate.
Great great stuff. I love the details. "I wear a crop top". Like that matters! Genius.
Kevin Eldon’s facial expressions are otherworldly
The look on Max's face, his eyes nearly popping out , so funny.
It’s amazing how much bad news a person can get in four minutes.
He's a bit... you know...
this is one of them shows that gets under your skin . but you cant stop watching . something you will never see on american tv even at 3 am .
This is my litmus test for making new friends
"He gives you this sniffing stuff"!
OMG!
The responsibilities of being a god parent.
The mood gives the impression of being in a very, very dark and surreal world
"He gives you this sniffing stuff... make it easier..."
LOL!
I won the DVD in a Big Issue competition when I was about 17. Had never heard of it before and stuck it in the DVD player. Was rather taken aback.
"Only I know it's me"
Why did I laugh at that? HAHAHA
What a dark imagination can conjur.
It’s genius. It has everything , including a subtle dig at attitudes to homosexuality, for the mother to go as far as she does in order for Ryan not to be gay.
this is my fav jam sketch...it has one of my favorite songs ever in it...
it's so relaxing and yet disturbing at the same time..genius!
This is so haunting

Would love it uploaded to Spotify
Thanks for posting this cam100000. Jam and Radio 1's Blue Jam are funny and scary and pure genius.
omfg......i LOVE bark psychosis music.........
Sad to say this program passed me by at the time.....thank you RUclips 😆
If you come up stairs ill show you some of the things he does. Oh.
The best bit
This is my absolute favourite sketch from Jam!
Nothing but admiration for those parents.
There needs to be a Jam sound board app
Homophobia, sodomy, and incest...we need more stuff like this on television! (Not sarcasm)
three times a day at weekends.
LOL...Jam so crazy, man.
Bark Psychosis "Pendulum Man" = A+
He gives you this Sniffing stuff... Makes it easier
Dark, dark shit. Why is there nothing of this calibre on British TV at the moment?
It got incorporated in to the mainstream. And now dark humour is all a bit Inbetweeners.
Picnicl imo the inbetweeners is more Blue Humour than Dark Humour.
Pfff you obviously never watched Nighty Night when it came out in 2004
You should take a time machine forward to 2024 if you think 2009 is bad
i wonder if Chris Morris had Dud and Pete's Dirty Uncle Bertie sketch in mind.
Oh my...
funniest big of jam hands down
Not at all surprised the music has "psychosis" in the title.
thanx mate. i shall get on that as soon as.
I want Amelia Bullmore to explain things to me slowly for three hours. It's not too much to ask, is it?
Not at all. In that South Yorkshire accent too!
We need to go back to the traditional values of this sketch
Feel like this is the inspiration for butters parents in South Park, this is the sort of shit they’d do
They've said they're big fans of Chris Morris so probably right
like a Ken Currie painting
Indeed!
I'm so pissed of that you can't get this on DVD anymore. It's completely out of stock.
I managed to buy one the other day
@@SirMilkzz Hello newish comment
I've got it. Should still be plenty left available to buy

If you drink....quite a lot...it’s not....so bad
How would she know, she’s not the one taking it up the arse.
where did you find all the tracks? they are so good, and they really suit the mood of jam. ive been after them for a while. thanx.
Where do you live now?

lol! You never see Amelia in stuff these days, such a shame....
What wont you do for your friends. Dang!
Yeah.....
So beautiful apart from the words
i wear a crop top and we meet in the dark
Why would they do that?
haha, I can relate to this sketch on some sort of fucked up level which scares me
hilarious
This is an interesting show--it barely qualifies as comedy, it's almost a horror series. But it's still funny.
I dunno man I'm always in tears watching this show. Guess it depends on your sense of humour
Why doesn’t Dave just go on grinder
Would homophobic parents go this far? That's the funny thing about this sketch.
I like comedy black, like my servants
En gros il est pas dans la merde Ryan.
@DarkKnightBob1o1
Hmm, my last comment on this vid was 2 years ago, so I dont know if you have made a joke and gotten "FUKD & BOMBD" wrong on purpose or not! ha!
not really no
wow mad fkers seducing their sons gay friend so he doesn't try it on with ryan Lol
I think the mother seducing the son while disguised as a prostitute somewhat surpasses that.
I bet Ryan is a little piece of shit anyway lol
Well done you used your brain organ to work out the most obvious part of a sketch
You watched the vid? Well done!
******
Why exactly was I voted down?
Because you're lame
This is stupid, my stomach hurts and this music/ slow moving video does not help
But at the same time it is
wan'ker
