Glorious Insurrection
By Robert Sheldon
Item: 00-48143
Series: Alfred Concert Band
Level: 4
Inspired by the overthrow of King James II of England in what was later called the Glorious Insurrection (or Revolution) of 1688, this dramatic musical essay is rife with powerful, ominous chords and poignant themes. Celtic-style motifs and colorful, rhythmic percussion parts help to energize this striking work for wind band.

this song is perfect down to every note, some of this song is so out of style for robert sheldon yet he does it so perfectly. this song is absolutely gorgeous and quite possibly my favourite concert band piece ever.
piece*
The horn gliss at the end 😫😫😫
It's actually called a rip. A gliss is when you follow the line at full note volume.
Having an All State band being conducted by Sheldon himself soon, playing this, very excited
Wait are we in the same all state band? I’ll also be playing this conducted by Sheldon in All State
@@brokengadget3586 I'm in the all state band too!
Aye same here!
@@brokengadget3586 Michigan?
@@ytsub7 Yeah, we actually sat right by each other (im caden)
Every section gotta work on this one, especially perc. Love the oboe solo.
I played the piece at the BDB music camp in Europapark Rust Germany
The conductor was Robert Sheldon
That was amazing
definitely one of the most fun pieces i’ve ever played, it was a treat to see all my band mates have so much fun as well
This song makes me want to switch to French horn
Any level four or up makes me want to play first horn
@@josephfong4580 as a first horn player can vouch except for marches, those suck
@@lindsflea8634 I’ve played first horn in many of my other groups and it’s the most fun unfun thing to do if you get it. I also think that third horn gets the most harmonically sound parts that are beautiful to play/hear
@@lindsflea8634 fr like its the same rhythm over and over again
@@lindsflea8634sousa ☹️😫
Ok, why is it that Bob Sheldon still had not scored for movies yet?
I mean clearly his scores are movie scores quality. I mean like John Williams, James Horner level.
Horn madness 😩
That ending is AMAZING!!
Anyone find more songs like this? Watched this about a million times by now and want a little more.
anything by Rossano Galante
@@why5482 omg i know ive seen like all their songs
Why does the beginning sound like Harry Potter and the goblet of fire though?
I love the flute melody starting around 2:45 - 2:50
I play the oboe solo on flute though, but it’s still super fun🤭
Cool piece! However due to unforeseen events I probably will not be programming this one anytime soon…
6:23: smh
This title after January 6th is wild 💀. It was probably composed before hand but still.
The snare drummer messed up at the beginning of the 12/8 part.
me when robert sheldon never gives tubas the melody
so Jan 6th?
The title is a bit, shall we say, tone deaf? Unless, of course, this is a statement in support of the "glorious insurrection." (And, yes, I realize the program notes offer an explanation.)
Though the composition was written months before the “events”, it just didn’t age well.
@@deniscarranza4143 Was going to say - in hindsight, an unfortunate title....
The Glorious Insurrection is in reference to the Glorious Revolution in the 1680s(I believe). Robert Sheldon conducted a band I was in while playing this and assured the audience that this was not in reference to any events that had happened recently. He also said that our performance could have been the last time the piece was played live due to the name and unfortunate events that happened in the US.
stan stray kids
periodtt 😫
it's long
