- I'm very fortunate to live in a small rural village with fields close to my house, so being out in nature is still possible for me during my permitted daily walk. During these difficult times, lockdown can be extremely hard, especially for those that can't get out in nature, so I hope this short video and photographs of Brown Hares, which was filmed over 3 late evening walks, brings a little bit of joy and happiness to everyone, during these times.
STAY SAFE !!

Out for my daily walks, camera in hand you never know what you may find. I also live in a very rural area, so like yourself I am able to get out. Keep the videos coming. Short walks in nature brings great value to the photographer and to all people. Perhaps people will realise what beautiful countryside we have just on our doorstep.
Thanks for your comment. It's great to live in a rural area so I consider myself very lucky. I think the lockdown will definitely make people appreciate wildlife and nature more. Thanks again.
Thanks Simon great video. love your Brown Hare shots one of the easier to approach subjects if you are careful !

Thanks David. Hope you and your family are keeping safe and well. 🙂
Hi Simon. Congratulations on capturing these fascinating animals so beautifully. I have picked on your tip for getting down low! I also enjoyed yesterday your fab video from Holme Fen being very local to me. A stunning woodland where I have managed to capture some pleasing images although of the woodland itself rather than wildlife. Keep them coming!!
Thanks David. Really pleased you enjoy the videos. I really enjoyed making this one. Quite a challenge as I'm only out for an hour as a time due to the lockdown so had to capture over multiple days. Holme Fen is a wonderful place. All the best..
Hi Simon lovely little video you tube has been a God send at times so thank you for doing what your doing. Until next time take care and stay safe.

Jim. USA.
P.s. lucky enough to have meadow behind house. I look like I am guarding it with my 200-500:-0). Had some woodpeckers out front and the neighbors are sure I am nutty.
Hi Jim, thanks for your message and hope you're ok over there in the US. Keep safe.. I'm glad you liked the video and great that you have wildlife behind your house also. Take care..
Lovely job Simon, good to see your able to still get out and about. I've just uploaded my first video to my new channel. Exciting times. Stay Safe mate
Thanks Peter. Just subscribed 👍
Go get the Olympus out !!
Lovely. Thanks. What was the hare eating?
Thanks Brian. I think it's eating some young wheat shoots.
Lovely images Simon. I recently went out to photograph brown hares in some moorlands locally in the late afternoon/dusk but did not see any even though last year I saw 1 in the morning in the same location. Are early mornings the best time to see them?
Thanks Steve. Wonderful aren't they. Yes as with most wildlife early mornings and late evening are the best times.
@@SimonWantling Great, thanks for the info :-)
Cool vlog, were did you get the lens and camera cover from
Thanks very much. I've added links below. You need to chose the right size lens cap for your lens and of course colour. Also the pro body cover I've included. Not sure they do exactly the same one as mine any more but I own this one also. Hope that helps..

A beautiful video of a fantastic animal. Sadly, we don't have any hares in my area and so the very few images I have involves a fair old drive. Great shame as I find them fascinating creatures.
Thanks very much Robert. They are wonderful animals and shame they aren't local to you anymore. Hopefully the lockdown will end in the not too distant future and you'll be able to get to see them again. I know I can't wait to connect with the owls again but obviously best to stay at home and restrict walks and exercise to local. Take care..
Luckily I live in a very rural setting also and the hares are beginning to show themselves a lot more now so I might just give it a go..
That sounds good. Give it a go and would really like to see anything you manage to capture. 👍
Dear Simon, I have recently realised the sounds I often hear in a thick hedgerow is actually Hares. How do I go about seeing them better? Is it just a case of bidding downwind with binoculars ? Is there anything I can do to help my effort?
Simon nice job started following you back when you had a few hundred followers nice work. I just released some photography of my prairie chicken adventures, just an FYI if you want to Take a view.
Hi, thanks for the comment. Glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully in time I'll be able to visit the owls again. Great video btw and just subscribed. Really enjoyed it 👍
Great stuff Simon and thanks again, currently been trying to capture Hares early morning but they have appeared then gone whilst still quite dark, think i might try some before sun goes down, what time do you think they are most likely to be active in the back shift so to speak.
Hi Desmond, thanks for your message. I definitely think the evening is best. They seem to become active just as the sun is getting low. I spotted the hares then sat down and waited for them to come to me. Good luck 👍
Cheers Simon shall give that a go this evening, like yourself i have lots of open farm land within walking distance up here in Northumberland 👍
