- The first in a new feature on the Chatham-Kent Daily Post called "A day in the life", Editor Aaron Hall examines corn detasseling in Chatham-Kent. Aaron caught up with a crew from WR Detasseling in Chatham, and joined them for their shift in a field near Erieau.
I like how RUclips keeps putting in links to a spot in the video everytime someone mentions what time they get up. LOL
Got up at 5:30am? Our bus leaves at 5. For some reason I always start missing detasseling in the winter... and then dread it coming in the summer. I'll be a 6th year this July. :3
They never show the detasseling. Did I miss it?
Wow. I have to wake up at 4:30 every morning and get picked up by the bus at 6:00.
They got it easy.
I might be doing detasseling in the corn heart of Illinois! 8 to 9 dollars an hour great income for a teen.
I worked corn detasling for the past 8 years this 2014 I will upload videos corn detassling at a different level stay tuned.

i was on a great team. The clean up crew. we went behind the other crews and cleaned up what the missed. It was great. If you were on the clean up crew it meant that you were fast and didn't miss anything.
I'm watching because I am join tomorrow to Chatham to corn detassel for my first time

HAHA! I corn detasseled when I was in high school... 1992/93. We didn't wear glasses or goggles of any kind and my crew consisted of 12 people. We did multiple 10 acre lots in one day, and we were at the first field at 6am.
7:00 am is bad? we have to be at our pick up site at 5:00am with glock detasseling in elkhorn nebraska!!!! it isnt hard its just wet :/
Just got gode with our season a little over a week ago.. Had to wake up at 4:10 everyday, and the bus picked up at 5:45

we start at 6 and work for a long ass time and get paid pretty good haha
