The 2CV did what it was supposed to do. Carry the eggs through a field without any of them falling out the basket. As long as the guy was driving in a normal way, the eggs weren't moving, so the challenge was succesful. The other part with him driving like a lunatic doesn't count.
I've driven one of these. The gear shifter is the funniest. It looks like an umbrella handle moving horizontally. The 2 cylinder is just the cherry on top.
yeah it's unique that gear stick, you remember the ventilation system that just opened a flap below the windscreen? that was as funny as the gear stick 😂
TheGreg6466, yeap, a big rectangle ventilation with one metal flap. The fabric roof was also awesome. Pull it back and enjoy the weather. First of all, I would imagine that in the original egg challenge thy didn't use a basket that was overflowing with eggs. They probably used a basket with eggs IN it, not overflowing from it. Next, put the egg basket on the floor! His legs are absorbing the shock but also not steady enough to keep the already overflowing basket from tilting and spilling. Spillage was probably NOT part of the challenge. Put the eggs inside a basket, not overflowing from it, and place the basket on the solid floor. Then the results would be more accurate and telling.
Waste of what look like very nice non-industrial eggs. That was just an excuse to make a mess. Normal, non-overflowing basket of eggs on the floor or in the trunk would have left them un-scrambled. Mine is a '59 in original condition with a new head. Like new. Not a quiet ride, mind you, but fun as hell for getting around town and country. Mom and Dad brought it to fancy car rallies in Western Mass a few years ago and annoyed the luxury car owners by drawing more attention from the crowd. Then they took out the front seats (through the rolled down roof) for a picnic... and all hell broke loose.
