I think I’m lucky because early in their tour, they stopped in my hometown. Labrie’s vocals were on point, or as close as they could be and there was less backing track. To be fair though, Labrie is getting old and the destruction of his vocal cords never really healed all the way. Still was a great show and can’t wait for their next album

as an ex pro musician myself I can tell you it can challenging for many musicians, esp vocalists to hear themselves, their own pitch n tone on stage let alone perform a flawless show all the way through. Of course the trolls cant imagine that, esp since they've never ventured out of grandmas basement

I hated Labrie's performance, because I can't sing along given all the liberties he takes, especially at the end. They also don't add anything on top of that. But the rest of the band is on point, as always.

You can clearly here on the start that they are using playback tracks nowdays for guitar harmonies. Kinda kills the live vibe a bit when they could for example hire a second guitarist or Jordan could double on keyboard.
Perfectly replicating studio magic live is an unreasonable request. They can use playback if they need. The more advanced a show is, the more necessary playback is IN SOME CAPACITY.
Mangini was great with dream theater, I think all of you guys who glaze portnoy (I actually think portnoy is better for the band as well tho), but mangini didnt come in and say: "this is my turn now get outta here portnoy". Portnoy was the one who decided to leave, so instead of shitting on mangini, why wont you shit on your beloved mike portnoy for deciding to leave the band on his own, and understand that they could not have found a better replacement for him than mangini.

But the music is just good, and thats what I love when listening to Dream Theater, everytime I sing along and vibe along and get excited. Been playing guitar for over 15 years, and I hope one day to be famous like these guys. What I'm trying to say, if you would have been an actual fan of this band, you would give them the benefit of the doubt after they have been doing this for 40 years. And that they are now not young. Just enjoy the music, we arent going to get a lot more albums anyways, so just enjoy it, thats the best advice I can give lol.
