    Hi Ken-chan, i was in Hakodate in december 2023 and stayed at La'Gent Hakodate. Went to Goryokaku park and tower and mount Hakodate too. You are right mount Hakodate night view was spectacular! I did not get a good view also because the observation deck was soooo crowded. It's a shame that you did not make this video earlier as I didn't know about Isabiri Park and Jiyoken Ramen Shop😢, else i would have gone. Hope to see you soon.

    • @tokyokenchan
      @tokyokenchan  11 месяцев назад +2

      The La'Gent looks very nice right in front of the station. Ohhh so the observatory is always busy like that. It was very dark so I didn't notice the Isaribi park until after I left and see my footage. 😄 Thank you for sharing.

    • @bennykoh
      @bennykoh 8 месяцев назад

      @@AliceLy Hi it was cloudy most days but little snow except in Asahikawa. It was very cold though, < 8 deg c in sapporo and hakodate, -2 Deg C in otaru and -1 to -6 deg C in asahikawa. Please wear snow boots as i saw people slip and fall several times because of thin sheets of ice in the absence of snow.

    • @bennykoh
      @bennykoh 8 месяцев назад

      @@AliceLy Also if you are thinking of skiiing do it after 2nd week dec. with climate change, the snow season is starting later and later in hokkaido. even 2nd week dec most slopes in niseko, tommamu, rusutsu will likely stay closed due to lack of snow.

    Hi Kenchan, this was one of your best vids ever. I really enjoyed walking through Hakodate with you. I have a keen interest in Japanese art and culture during the Edo period and so I tried to imagine what Hakodate was like back then. I especially liked the tour of the Old Public Hall. The night views of the city lights were breathtaking. What I especially loved about this vid is that it depicts what life is like outside a huge city like Tokyo.
    Thank you and as always I'm looking forward to your next video.

    Thanks for the video and memories! We were there last year. You covered almost everything we did in half the time we took 😅😅, we stayed 4 nights in Hakodate and did nothing much 😬😬😬, other than to roam aimlessly near Hakodate station due to lack of preparation & research 😬😬😬
    There's an old gentleman in the morning market selling souvenirs, he does wood carving, and he will carve your message on the spot! I think it's free of charge when you buy the wood from him to carve the message. He speaks some English too! 😊 He's quite the character and he's very friendly
    Hokkaido is a very lovely prefecture, and it's very addictive 😬😬. We were already back for our 2nd trip earlier this month 💸💸💸💸💸 visit Hokkaido at your own risk

      @@tokyokenchan ooops...my bad, we spent 3 nights in Hakodate only 😬😬😅😅. We bought the JR East South Hokkaido Pass, we spent 2 nights in Aomori, 3 nights in Hakodate before travelling to Sapporo on the 6th day, the last day of the pass
      😁😁😁 We packed a lot more in this short trip in Sapporo because we joined a few day tours from Sapporo. The downside of day tours is that we cover a lot of ground but we have very limited time at each tourist attractions 😪🥲🥲
      Asahiyama Zoo is great! But I didn't get to see the penguins 🐧🐧 because I wasted too much time elsewhere 😅😅
      We did the drift ice tour too, but I was a bit disappointed with it because we never went out to sea!
      Ironically, I discovered that places that I have very low expectations (Asahiyama Zoo for example) tend to exceed my expectations. The drift ice tour was the highlight and main draw of this trip, but I was a bit underwhelmed 😂😂😂. Mainly because I thought we will go out to sea but we never left the harbour 😭😭😭. I still enjoyed myself very much though 😅😅

      @@tokyokenchanyou're welcome and I hope you will have more time when you next visit Hokkaido
      I first saw snow in my entire life last year in Echigo-Yuzawa, maybe I had such high expectations that I was highly disappointed with the snow in Mar. The snow then was like crushed ice only
      The snow this Feb in Hokkaido has brought back some of the magic of snow for someone living in the tropics 😁😁 I finally got to touch some fluffy snow and snowflakes!
      Now, all that is left is for us to start saving money for our next winter trip. I hope we can visit Hokkaido again next Feb! 😍😍😍

    Hakodate looks like an amazing place and that was in my opinion one of your best videos so far (all of them are good, but this one was especially great) ! I love the convenience store with the yakitori, the colonial houses and the sausage shop. The ropeway I would probably do during the day, because with so many people in the evening, I would feel very uncomfortable.
    I once saw a video of an outdoor morning food market which starts at 6am and is only on sundays (I believe) in Hakodate. Do you know if that is still the case ?

      Thank you so much! I'm glad to hear this video was the best. :) I wasn't sure if Motomachi areas's Western style buildings appeal to travelers from abroad, but that's great you liked those little shops. I'm not sure about the morning market on Sundays. What I saw was there everyday, and I didn't see any information about the Sunday one. But it seems it's better to go early to avoid too many tourists. 👍

    Half of my year is in Japan. I have been doing this for 10 years. My Japanese is terrible (my fault).
    I very much enjoy all your videos. Both length and content is first rate (ichiban!). (^.-)
    I have started the habit of "liking" before I watch. I want your channel to succeed. I have one suggestion. Sound Levels. Please let me explain...
    Voice overs for video seem best. They are clear and relevant. Of course, I understand you must keep your voice low in the streets. But often I can't hear (and your information is very important). I turn up the volume. But the next segment - a voice over - knocks me down. (^.^) (loud).
    Your English is wonderful. Very impressive. YOUR voice is the most important sound (in my opinion). Music less important. Street noise is nice for "atmosphere" but... again... YOU are the sound I want to hear. I'm not certain what equipment you have. But... if you can please test each video for sound levels (and adjust those where sounds are very low or very loud). Often, where you go I have been. But, also often, I hear your comments and think "I didn't know that!" (^.-). Thank you for reading my comment. I am eager to watch your next video. Otsukaresama deshita.

    • @tokyokenchan
      @tokyokenchan  11 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you for kindly giving me advice in the gentle way. Sorry for knocking you down with my voice 😅 I hope you were ok. I was thinking if I should put subtitles over for the scenes like before Starbucks and after the consulate. I will try to volume up when surrounding noise is not big. And of course I’d like to prepare microphone when I speak to the camera. Usually I cut out and don’t put these footages that I suddenly randomly talk to my phone saying little comments or jokes that came up to my brain, which I’m doing all the time in my daily life… Also I try to speak clearly and slower when talking to camera. Filming and editing ( and English) is very difficult but I try to get better soon. It might not be very soon but I’ll get better. Again, thank you for trying to watch my videos and sparing your time to write me this in the nicest way possible😊
