I think Imu's Devil Fruit is related to the constellation Draco. Some images show the tongue of Draco looking exactly like that which stabbed Cobra and Sabo. Not to mention, Draco, in Phoenician/Canaanite traditions, was believed to have been slain by a Sun-God. It would also make sense that Imu is THE Celestial Dragon, literally a Dragon in the Stars.

Imu clearly has some western demon inspiration, some celestial dragon inspiration and some sea monster inspiration. The real answer is probably that his character and design and powers are inspired by multiple sources. His power does seem related to creation or manipulation of his form, perhaps intended to parallel luffy's similar ability to change his shape.

I think Imu's Devil Fruit is related to the constellation Draco. Some images show the tongue of Draco looking exactly like that which stabbed Cobra and Sabo. Not to mention, Draco, in Phoenician/Canaanite traditions, was believed to have been slain by a Sun-God. It would also make sense that Imu is THE Celestial Dragon, literally a Dragon in the Stars.
Looked it up and you actually might be right. I still am a firm believe that Imu is a devil, but your idea is now a close second.
@mistercontroversial there is so much more to Phonecian culture and their beliefs that parallel so much to One Piece. One of their biggest feats was shipbuilding, for starters. They also at one point made their own language (relates to the poneglyphs!)
Babylonian astronomy follows the same, Draco represents a goddess (that's right, female, like IMU is expected to be) who opposes the order that the gods are trying to keep (the gods being the World Government, explains why Garp won't become a subordinate to the Celestial Dragons because he does believe in that order/justice)

@SP1D3YMC the most likely answer to me is that Imu takes inspiration from multiple sources but isn't intended to directly parallel any of them. Imu clearly has some western demon inspiration, some celestial dragon inspiration and some sea monster inspiration. The real answer is probably that his character and design and powers are inspired by multiple sources. His power does seem related to creation or manipulation of his form, perhaps intended to parallel luffy's similar ability to change his shape.
