  • Former US Representative Dennis Kucinich sat down with Burning Man founder Larry Harvey for a conversation at the 2015 Burning Man Global Leadership conference in San Francisco.
Dennis participated in the Burning Man event in Nevada in 2014 and as he tells Larry Harvey, "I got it in a second." Dennis was so moved by his experience in Black Rock City that he gave the keynote presentation at the 2015 Burning Man Global Leadership Conference. The GLC is an annual conference held in San Francisco where Burning Man organizers, community leaders, and regional contacts come together for an inspiring weekend of conversations and skill sharing.

I keep thinking to myself, okay I have a Burning Man ticket this year, but I need to take a break and not go because I'm getting older and need to get serious with my life. After watching this former congressman's excitement, who is much older than me, about the event it made me question what is "getting serious with my life"? In the default world, I feel like I haven't reached my "full potential" because I'm distracted by parties and chicks... and Burning Man, for me is the same thing. Well, sort of... unlike the default world, the playa is a space where no one judges you and everyone wants you to be happy. The rules, boundaries, and baggage that you've been programmed with from society, friends, and family gets dismantled at Burning Man. That freedom allows you to creatively explore your human potential and evolve. Of course, going to Burning Man takes much resources both financially and emotionally. I'm still conflicted, but interesting interview!

I think it's amazing that you will be able to experience the burn this year. This year could be your opportunity to change your way of thinking or getting involved in a new way. Yes, it is true, there is a huge party scene at Burning Man. But it's your choice to participate in that or something potentially new.
If I could encourage you to continue to seek your full potential in someway that you haven't thought of before. You don't have to let society's judgements against you inhibit the ideas you wish to pursue.
Go to the burn this year. Do something to experience this year differently.

Interesting how this Great Question -- How To Create a FULLY Sustainable New Earth Lifestyle -- is precisely what I and many I know have been focusing on for many years now. And have pretty much figured it out :-) It's pretty simple actually: Small permaculture-based Eco-Village communities that work and live together in harmony (and NO politics, completely decentralized, self-governing), merged with a Burning Man-style cultural paradigm of personal freedom of expression (with the only 'rule' being DO NO HARM), creative abundance for all, and constant celebration of LIFE!! . . . . .

Alexander Del Sol I think you DO have it figured right! because we have done it before.....the commons governed by those living in it. This is how we evolved after all....and Why Burning Man feels like Home. Just as natural as breathing to us.

This is great. Except - how do we protect ourselves from those with serious weapons & technology? That's the big one I see really preventing what you're speaking about.. that, and how to get more people near-hopelessly entranced by the modern consumerist way of life. ♾️💖!
