This song is from one of my favorite albums, Rejoice. The Emotions were sisters from my city, Chicago. Two from this trio are still with us and performing with their daughters.
Emotions "Flower" is my favorite from them. The harmony hit so hard on that song. The beat is funky too. You can't help but rock side to side to that track.

I was in the sixth grade when this came out. This was/is an absolute masterpiece. This song had everybody getting up the courage to approach their crush. Such melodic voices, harmonizing perfectly.

The Emotions from Chicago,IL. Sheila, Jeanette and Wanda Hutchinson started singing in 1962 as the Gospel music group, The Hutchinson Sunbeams. They signed with Stax Records as The Emotions in the late 1960s. They released their debut single "So I Can Love You" in 1969. After Stax folded the signed to Columbia Records and released the album "Flowers" in 1976. In 1977 they released "Best of My Love" from the album "Rejoice". The single was a #1 hit on the Billboards R&B and Pop Charts.

You really need to hear Somos Novios sung by this group. These ladies had so much talent that they even sung in Spanish and sounded like true musical goddesses that made them one of lots of females favorite women groups I can hear forever. Please check them singing in Spanish 👌👍

As I recall....the album had a longer version that ebbed and flowed so well. I had it on loop...on my reel to reel. This was the slow jam highlight...at least for me. The EW&F connect was so evident...but the girl's harmonies are just On Point and sultry. Those uptempo horns that punctuate this tune is just.....chef's kiss! Thanks for the nostalgia...plus your rave review. Bravo!!

They also had a hit called Flowers. I think it's from that same album.
