Something that I can't get my head around... Our taxes pay for the council services...yet they say that it is not a free service, well it is already paid for, so they are after double bubble. If they fine people, based on the work and hourly rates, and they are receiving taxes for those services, they must be in profit? Where is that profit going? plus, I think that pigeons are lovely, not rodents, leave them alone. Trafalgar Square has never been the same since they removed them and banned feeding. Humans carry more diseases than pigeons! Am I wrong - open to responses...
I don't know about where the taxes go, I feel like that's too complicated for me to say anything about it. I just want to comment about pigeons: No, they're not. I want them nowhere near my park before they *kingdom come* on my car.
Taxes pays for workers salary and benefits but it does not cover the cost of illegal dumping removal especially on construction and hazardes waste. The fine goes towards paying a transfer station fees. The city pays for household trash removal to a trash hauler. Extra is more. Dumping provides breeding grounds for rats and other pests. Local beneficial wildlife get their heads and mouths caught up in waste suffer and die. Getting caught once usually means the person has been doing it long term. City's and towns pay millions upon millions to dispose of illegal dumping and the fines of the few they manage to catch does not come close. The next time your taxes go up you can thank illegal dumpers for part of it. Pigeons crapping all over prevent people from enjoying the square. Having to use an umbrella to keep pigeon poo off your hair and clothes to walk through the square is nuts. It's why humans are not allowed to poop in the square either. Both have germs.
