What a beautiful blessing for this couple. I am a white woman who met the love of my life in a wonderful black man in 1972. I was also facing a lot of pressure from my family to not marry him. I was even disowned by my grandmother for continuing the relationship. But, I was fortunate that I did not give into the racial pressures of the time and instead decided to marry him quickly because I knew that he was the perfect one for me. After only two months and two days from the day we met, we were married. This year we will be celebrating our 50th anniversary and couldn’t be happier. I wish that we could meet Jean and Steve and share in their new life together.
Congratulations. I am happy for you. My husband passed 3yrs ago. I was with him for more than half my life. I want him back. It was just me and him and I miss him desperately every single day.
That’s such beautiful love story I wish love , peace and happiness always to you both. .💞💞💞
@@sharbogusz9319 I’m so sorry for your loss sweetie 🙏🏻

Hi Deborah 👋 I hope my comment didn't sound as a form of privacy invasion your comment tells of a wonderful woman with a beautiful heart which led me to comment I don't normally write in the comment section but I think you deserve this complement. If you don’t mind can we be friends? Thanks God bless you….
My black boyfriend & I just watched this story. I’m 68 & we both knew if we’d met in ‘72 we wouldn’t be together either. This story is so typical but with a happy ending like ours.
I'm so happy for you both!☺️

By 1972, the remaining statutes against interracial marriages had been overturned unanimously by the Supreme Court.
That is so beautiful, and she’s taking care of him as if they have been together all these years, finally together, and no one can come between them!
Loved it, and Jesus will merry them.
Exactly and it's beautiful 😍
This story just proves how love endures. I think this is one of Steve Hartman's best pieces.
Only a minute into the clip, tears're just rolling down my cheeks. What a love story!
Me too
Same!
Me 3
The "good old days" weren't always so good, so glad these two found each other again.
As a Trucker, I encounter many people on my travels. Everytime I go in a southern town like Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia... I'm cognizant if how lucky I am to have been born in THIS era.
Funny thing though. At times I still get those cautious/unwelcoming looks. However, I'm always the 1st to smile & say something positive. You can literally see a change in the faces of these people. Honestly, I think most racism/hatred comes from people never actually meeting other races/cultures in person. I know that after my encounter with these people, they probably think "hey, that was actually a cool guy".
Have to agree with you Derek. It’s the fear of the unknown.
Absolutely! Breaking down hate one smile at a time. You are a missionary!
So true. I always thought my dad was racist. He never was around a race other than his own. In his latter years he needed dialysis. Many of the patients were people of color. He quickly made friends with many of them. Several came to his funeral.
I haven’t heard such a heartwarming and heartbreaking story like this, in such a long time. Really do hope light guides their whole way through.
come on ! this is the best youtube channel , and the second place goes to 60 minutes australia
Just burst into tears. This proves that true love never dies. Bless them both. And he will know Love and comfort the rest of his life. Beautiful 🥲
It brought me to tears, two beautiful people destined to be together.

I am so happy for them. Thank goodness that she had the courage to live her life before it was too late. Parents, let your children live their lives. I know her mother was from a different era, but Jeanne is getting the second chance that a lot of people don't get, so too is Steve.
i agree a love story. it is not what's on the out side. its what's on the inside. if what your heart decides let it be and follow your heart. it felt right at was love then. but it was forbidden love. but now they have been reunited, it may still be forbidden but who cares now. a love has been reunited and they will stay together for the rest of thier lives together. life partners in a later period of thier lives. back to fact better late than never. may they have long lives on earth and even longer lives when they leave earth for Gods kingdom. for those here on earth take heed we need to prevent racial discrimination. treat people the way we want to be treated. he careful when you judge color color it is not just black and white.

Her love & devotion to her college sweetheart are fully on display by her actions. I am so glad they got a 2nd chance at love.
Oh my God. Heartbreaking and hopeful all at once. Wishing them both happiness.
Now THAT is true love.
Not since the first 5 minutes of the movie "Up" has a piece brought me to tears so quickly. What a wonderful and beautifully produced short story.
Omg me too!! UP still makes me emotional
I have watched UP exactly once. Cannot do it again, far too emotional.
This story is a beautiful example of unconditional love. ❤️
Yes, UP almost took me out! My daughter was young at the time. Poor thing was so confused 🤣
I wonder just how many people’s lives have been denied the greatest love they ever knew because of our refusal to accept the differences between us and our inability to recognize the similarities. We aren’t born with this hatred and distrust of “the other”, but we continue to pass it down like a genetic trait. I know it’s better now than it has ever been in the US for interracial couples, but there is still a sizable segment of our population who are revolted by the idea. I hope future generations will overcome this defect.
Every week Steve does this. He knows how to pull on the heart strings
Thank you
Sad, but very sweet story.
Awwwwwwwwwwwww❣ I loved this,I cried so hard, what an amazing beautiful love story❤ even two strokes didn't make him forget her,I see why he, always loved her cause she's wonderful..
Beautiful, just beautiful. Please, please give updates as things change. I would love to see their story to the end.

My mother lost the love of her life, and til this day she claims if she found him, even sick and bed ridden arhat she would care for him until death. True love is powerful. Soul mates!
Love always wins!
All the wasted years of love and happiness that these two missed. Bless you Jeanne for having enough love in you heart to take care of the person you always loved Steve.
Priceless!
Wow great love story thank you CBS Sunday Morning ❤️ !

Truly it is proven that love endures and will return to those who are deserving of love. Love open the doors to reunite and be together again. This one had me in joyful tears.
Such a beautiful love story ❤️
We need more stories like this. God bless them both.
This is one of @SteveHartman best stories yet. My 3rd time watching this, & I've smiled & cried each time.❤
So sad and so lovely at the same time! How many wasted years due to hate and racism and yet reading the headlines proves we still haven't learned.
What a sweet, sad, and now again sweet story. All the best to these two.
Life is short! At least they got a few years left to enjoy each other's care and company.
What a very sweet love story! Thank you for sharing your AMAZING LOVE WITH US!!!
I truly hope there is an afterlife so they can be together!
Love always endures the test of time...great video!
Wow. Absolutely beautiful. No regrets.

Crying but Happy for them all at the same time!❤
So touching and heartwarming…. So HAPPY for them. ♥ Matter!!!
I'm not crying, you're crying!
This is beautiful and gives one hope.
It appears they both left their lives-and hearts 💞 open if one day they ever found each other again! Love ❤️ who you love ❤️ as long as it’s two consenting adults-don’t waste time worrying about what others think. I used to fret about others people’s judgements-come to find out these same people were hanging from the chandeliers behind closed doors!!🚪😝🥺☹️😩
What a tear!!!
I wept with Joy you both found your one true love....again
I am so in tears I'm so happy for them both

I really did and I cried very much.
