You did great and had a great weapon by the end but could probably have gotten a lot better armor with some additional gold grinding before going into the final showdown. This looks like a fun challenge to see you beat, even if it takes a few runs. It would probably too easy if you manage to beat the final boss on your very first attempt at max difficulty with only middling armor anyway. You'll get it :)

One thing i noticed while playing, If insurance is active its only for your equipment not for the weapons you picked up during the fight
