Appreciate it, next month I'm going to start posting more instructional vids. So hopefully you'll like them too.
ok sounds great
I really appreciate that you uploaded the raw edit and explained every step thoroughly. Nice result once again. And what a beast of an anvil you have also! How much does that piece wheigh?
+Johan Holmberg i glad you like the video, the anvil is a Nimba weighing right at 300 pounds.
+Johan Holmberg I meant to say earlier, I'm glad everyone seems to appreciate the unedited nature of my video, I don't want anyone tho think there is some kind of trick i'm not showing, and I want you to see a realistic timeline for the project. My future videos will follow this format as much as possible.
may I ask what kind of forge you use? I noticed that the steel gets pretty hot quick, coal?
It is a forge I built.
The fire pot is cast by friends of Lyle Wynn in Mississippi, and i built the rest.
The blower is a blower form blacksmith depot i believe, made in Korea, very tough lots of air, and i always run L Brand coke.
Feel free to contact with any other questions.
nice nimba centurion, how is it holding up and may I ask how good is the rebound, I'm considering buying one. thanks
I have no complaints, it has good edges nice rebound, but there are harder anvils out there. I wouldn't give this to a student prone to miss the work piece because they are very expensive, I would give them my Trenton, a harder anvil that isn't perfect. But the over all design is great and it has held up very nice over the last three years, if it got stolen, I would buy another.
John McGee what would you suggest for a beginner anvil that is currently being produced?
John McGee because I have an extremely hard time finding any anvil in my area. That's why I'm thinking about buying a new one
there are a couple of companies that make good anvils, ill get a few names together. also Andrew @blacksmithtools on instagram has a ton of stuff down here in Texas. What area are you in?
John McGee I live in Olympia washington, about an hour south (driving time) of Seattle. Thank you
What brand of anvil is that
Nimba brand, Centurion size the anvil is made in Washington state, very nice piece of equipment I bought mine brand-new two or three years ago, no regrets.
Please tell me that you are selling these!! I'd buy a few.
I do, feel free to email me at johnjmcgee@yahoo.com and we can discuss how to buy.
Thanks ,
John
