Necron 99 they do when it’s dark and on very cloudy days. but if you have moving water (like a water fountain, stream, etc.) it won’t matter much, since oxygen can be dissolved in water that way
Necron 99 Sorry english is my second language. What i meant by water fountain, etc are surface agitation and/or aquarium aeration (bubbler, filter outflow also counts). As long as the water is agitated, oxygen-co2 exchange happens between water and air. So.. nope you don’t necessarily need to put it under water when it’s dark or cloudy Wish you luck for the aquatic flowers! :D
I agree with you that we should know the basics of how this hobby works before getting in to it but everyone starts somewhere I laughed as I asked my wife this question and she looked at me like what is a stem plant lmao I have 6 aquariums full of plants all over the house but she has nothing to do with them ( accept complaining I have to many lol)
Aaron Lewis Good substrate. CO2. High light. Water changes. All that combined should get you on the right path. But it all comes down to the hobbyist and how experienced they are. Thanks for watching.
Hi Jacob. Can you pls tell how long can stem plants live outside water and with out substrate? As iam planning to travel and carry some of them along. Any suggestions as they would be in transit for about 4 to 5 days. Thanks
Pro tip for anyone. Paper towels, and a shoe box. Use a squirt bottle to mist the paper towels, wrap your plants in them, and stick them in an enclosed box(so they stay dark/moist/cool). Not sure how long they will live like this, honestly it's probably indefinitely if you use fertilizer water(DONT), heck it would probably start growing into the paper towel lol... but keep making sure the paper towel is properly moist. If it's hot out stick them in a cooler. Good luck yall.

Hi Jacob, do you need to water your plants? Thanks in advance...
Do I need to water my aquarium plants?
ArnoldQMudskipper Yes, at least forever, for a 24 hour period.
Do plants need oxygen? Screw it. Send me 7 bundles of aquatic flowers please!!

Do I have to put the fountain under the water, so the oxygen is in contact with the plants on cloudy days?
