i understand Mezco is trying to get the most bang for their buck by reusing the original molds for the bodies, but they just dont go with the toon heads, it looks off. If they lowered the price i think i would be interested but i dont think this set is worth $400
Having paid scalpers nearly double for the original 'one 12' set, Yes it was worth it. I didn't have the spare money at the time of pre order, I think $400 is a steal. Not that you can get even these for $400 anymore
I think Mezco missed a yuge double dip opportunity on those existing body molds by mismanaging the heads (need at least a determined/angry, happy/chill, and neutral head for each character) and accessories. Customers susceptible to the double dip are naturally going to compare the current with the previous so they need to provide accessories that are either better or good-in-a-different-way to get someone to pay almost a grand to get two sets of essentially the same characters/figures in a slightly different style
I think if they were concerned about huge double dipping (lol) they would of made more than 1k sets... this is a small run for fans of the toon stuff..

I'm not getting this derpy set lol. I fell in love with the mirage set the moment I saw it. Then when you went to that toy show and showed them off, made me want them more.

The art style remind me more of a cross between the original Playmates figures and the art on the Turtles In Time arcade cabinet with bodies shaped almost like the original Mirage turtles. So glad I get all 4 NECA Pizza Club figures.
I haven’t pulled the trigger on any of these Mezco’s because I’ve been waiting for them to do the mirage turtles. Seeing how they did the accessories in this toon pack has me worried about the mirage versions. Surely they are gonna come with the least amount of stuff.

Dammit, Mezco got me again! If they had just come with those creepy wide-eyed faces I could have easily passed, but those neutral Toei animation-style heads looks amazing. I've always wanted more season 1-inspired figures, even if these have the style guide skin tone. The fact that this is in stock and I don't have to wait a year+ for it was a nice touch, too!
I Got new pizza Club NECA Turtles with all new scoulpt heads. I swapped Leo's bandana on angry Plus frot shells I added brown lines on the edges so Im good thx!

I love those style guid Turtle colours from the tshirts from the 90’s. Only thing is I don’t think the body’s suit the hands the Popeye arms and exaggerated feet doesn’t look right imo
Some of these comments are hilarious. People always complaining about soft goods blah blah. Then I look at how they display the figures and 90% of people don’t even use the soft goods. 😂 most pick one head they like for each turtle and pose it on the shelf.
I'm glad I pre-orderd the original set, this toon set sold out. It just didn't wow me like the first one. But I do like the motion effects. But the lack of costumes/ coats really disappoints me

Hatter, the original Mezco Tmnt set is the bomb-diggidy bomb for me. Sometimes the second go around is better. A couple of the their original IPs definitely were purcheses as a second release. Rumble society as their known. Pink Skulls, T. Sodcutter, Krig murder hornet and others. I do have orders on the wait-list and I hope they come through. I also have the 5 point Tmnt ordered as well. I passed on this exclusive. I hope all get theirs before the secondary market prices take effect. ✌️

I wish they would do these as individual figures and not just full sets. I'd have grabbed just one. Even do a turtle a month. Let people spread out the cost more.
When I was looking through the accessories, I was like um wait... where's the cloth goods? The extra weapons are nice, but why so many. I'll still pass. The other ones had be heavily considering, but ultimately I passed.
Pass for me. They look good and the expressions are cool but I just don't need them. The bladed weapon is a kyoketsu, I agree with you that they aren't needed.

Nope! The it factor just isn't there. Almost got me with those heads but Mikey and Donnie are lacking in angry faces. Needed some trencoats and hats and some other toonu accessory and you probably would've gotten my money. Mezco double dipped on those bodies , dotted the "eyes" and added a little color around the pads and called in a day. Not today satan!

Owning the first set of turtles that came out and how I think they are the best ones out there to date...this is an easy pass for me. For the price, they should have included more in my opinion. Could have come with a skateboard for each of them, trenchcoats and hats, maybe a head sculpt with red bandana's for each of them...instead of just one box of pizza, could have had a stack of pizza boxes....just needed more or charge less 🤷♂️
Prototype pics but available? Why not use the final product for photos? The beaks are angled low. Raph red looks too close to mike orange. That extra front shell in the middle. Nah. Im good lol. They look like the clamation tmnt from the old pie commercials i think it was. I hated those lol

All they really had to do was swap the front and back shells and it would have made a huge difference.

About 318 left now. I dig them. Always was a fan of the style guide. And these remind me of that art as you stated.
