@@SimonHoiberg no it's not. This is like Udemy. Udemy isn't a SaaS. Teachable however is a SaaS. Because you can use the *software* to create your own elearning platform. The same way a paid newsletter isn't a software. Gated content + membership doesn't make a SaaS. The membership isn't what make it a SaaS, that's just a business model. Sure the majority of them use the membership model but you can even sell it with a one-time fee. A SaaS has an input/output logic.

A membership website with courses is not classified as SaaS (Software as a Service). SaaS refers to platforms like Teachable or Webflow, which allow you to build websites with courses and membership options. On the other hand, Netflix, although it enables video streaming, does not fall under the category of SaaS. Platforms such as Dacast, Brightcove, StreamYard, or Restream, which provide the ability to stream your own video content or conduct live streaming, are examples of SaaS.

Netflix for example, DOES fall under the cathegory of SaaS (especially legally speaking) as first, there is a service being sold, and secondly, users are utilizing it to get something from that platform. By definition a software is "a set of instructions, technically referred to as programs, that perform operations". Meaning that regardless if you created your website with webflow or if you are just providing a seemingly "non-software" related service as you wrongly defined it, it is still labeled as a software service as it respects the definition, even if you are just sending back a text output of "hello" after a user's purchase, let alone giving full access to private courses.

Well, there's a limit of 1,000 members right now. But as I mention in the video, this is only temporarily while the feature is in beta. With that limit lifted, I'd say this is perfectly scalable for a simple SaaS.

Yes, Webflow's Membership also has an API which is meant for a case exactly like this. Although, arguably, if you already created the SaaS with custom code, you're probably better of using Stripe's API to handle subscriptions instead.

You would need a server of sorts to handle the API call. But it could be as simple as a cloud function - so yes, that's relatively easy. I might cover this in an upcoming video 🙌

Hi. Maybe someone can help. I was looking for NoCode/Lowcode platform to build a market place application with integrated Google Maps and user authentication. Can anyone suggest anything? I have tried Webflow but it is rather limited on map integration side.
I think there's tons of reasons to hype No Code! Especially for people with SaaS ambitions who don't program, but certainly also for engineers who wants (or needs) to cut time. FeedHive is not entirely build on No Code, no. It's a bit too complex for that - but we're actually using No Code for a substantial part of it. The website is made with Webflow, and we're running a lot of No Code automation behind the scenes 😊

It's software, and you can charge a service fee for maintaining it. Software as a service.
If you're charging for it on a monthly/yearly subscription and the membership gives you access to content/features, I would call it a SaaS.

For billing APIs, you should use Stripe which you can integrate easily into this setup.

All these are pretty much possible with wix
As far as I'm aware, you cannot charge per subscription with Wix.
So you're limited to one-time sales / lifetime deals.

Bubble is great, I covered it in other videos.
But it's also very uphill to use... I think a lot of us are excited about seeing this functionality in Webflow instead 😁
Also, I don't think you can manage Stripe subscriptions from Bubble directly.
That's a massive plus on this solution.
