People may not realize that the Japanese cameramen were impressed that Dimash could do the song in one take, no enhancements needed. This was reported in a Japanese newspaper article.They were sent to make certain that Dimash sang it live, as it was required by the Tokyo Jazz Festival for artists to do so (because of COVID, Dimash had to record this in his studio). But he couldn't go to Japan because of Covid. So he had to sing it from the studio in China. There he took part in the show Shine! Super Brothers. I’m not sure but I think it was his studio in China. But I do know he got a studio as a gift for his birthday. If the Japanese reactors are to be believed, Dimash sang in perfect Japanese. Some also claimed that it was better Japanese than many Japanese themselves😅. He sang the same song but with different lyrics on the competition show "The Singer" in China in 2017 titled "Autumn Strong". And this song has a sad backstory. This was his first song in Mandarin. This beautiful song is based on a true story of an actress who became very famous & popular in China during WW2, but it was discovered at the end of the war that she was part Japanese & was banished from China because of it. The original singer (& maybe the composer) was Koji Tamaki & his version was also beautiful. I have seen 2 versions of his, 1 when he was young & the 2nd when he was older. It touched my heart so much I had to learn the lyrics, I have never spoken Japanese, but I now know it by heart. I could see your emotions as you listened & that was (& still is) how it affected me too. Dimash is masterful at conveying the emotion of a song. I came back to watch this again, and every single time, it moves me. A bit more background information for you. IKANAIDE, is in Japanese, which means, Don't Go. Here he sang in Japanese. This was filmed in his studio during pandemic. He participated in the Tokyo Jazz festival, but due to not being able to travel, he recorded this song and submitted it to the festival. This one was 2021. This exact same melody was also used for another song that Dimash covered, called Autumn Strong. Very popular and highly requested from his Chinese Dears. That one, the lyrics was translated into Chinese and while the exact words weren't quite the same feeling, but similar. Parts of the Chinese version basically said "I am not concern with me being alone, but only afraid that you would feel lonely". I caught a concert clip that he sang both in Japanese and Chinese, alternating. Mind boggling on how he could do that. He also did Samatau, a Kazakh song, in 2020's festival. Also recorded in his studio. Should check that one out, if you hadn't. Yes, the full sense of loss, is very evident int his song. His love had left him, or is leaving him, hence the title, Don't Go. Last phrase was, Let's stay like this (together) forever... That just rips at your heart.

They probably already wrote to you that Dimash also performs a song in Chinese with this music. Some sources claim that the author of the song Koji Tamaki was inspired by the real story of actress Yoshiko Yamaguchi when creating it. But for me it's a completely different song, with a different text, a different meaning, and not just a translation. Therefore, the version that I read somewhere in the comments is closer to me, that the author of the words to Ikanaide wrote about his terminally ill wife. In this vein, the words of the song take on a special meaning. I do not claim the truthfulness of this version, but for me, in Dimash's performance, "Late Autumn" sounds like the tragedy of a deported actress, and "Ikanaide" sounds like the pain of the impending loss of a loved one and the inability to change it. The main reason music reactions are so popular is because we want to share the music we love with another so we can relive our original reactions to a performance.
After 5 and half years as a Dear, it is very rare that some expert will surprise me with some educational tidbit that I did not know. BUT most of us are average Joes and who better to share with but another average Joe able to feel the music and appreciate our beloved artist.
Of course, reactors also fill the niche that DJ's in the 70's and 80's did of introducing us to new music. I have discovered so much new music through reactors, sometimes even Dimash performances that I missed.😃

The song in Chinese Autumn Strong is about the same Japanese actress who was accepted in China before the 1945 war. Then she was identified an made to leave. She was so sad to never be able to return to China as she loved her time in China. There are 2 songs from different perspectives. Autumn Strong was the first song he sang in Chenes in the 2017 The Singer competition. Gloria Wu explains the back story

This beautiful song is based on a true story of an actress who became very famous & popular in China during WW2, but it was discovered at the end of the war that she was part Japanese & was banished from China because of it.
The original singer (& maybe the composer) was Koji Tamaki & his version was also beautiful. I have seen 2 versions of his, 1 when he was young & the 2nd when he was older. It touched my heart so much I had to learn the lyrics, I have never spoken Japanese, but I now know it by heart.
I could see your emotions as you listened & that was (& still is) how it affected me too. Dimash is masterful at conveying the emotion of a song. There is a Chinese version of this too called Autumn Strong & Dimash also sings that one.

I came back to watch this again, and every single time, it moves me.
A bit more background information for you. IKANAIDE, is in Japanese, which means, Don't Go. Here he sang in Japanese. This was filmed in his studio during pandemic. He participated in the Tokyo Jazz festival, but due to not being able to travel, he recorded this song and submitted it to the festival. This one was 2021.
This exact same melody was also used for another song that Dimash covered, called Autumn Strong. Very popular and highly requested from his Chinese Dears. That one, the lyrics was translated into Chinese and while the exact words weren't quite the same feeling, but similar. Parts of the Chinese version basically said "I am not concern with me being alone, but only afraid that you would feel lonely". I caught a concert clip that he sang both in Japanese and Chinese, alternating. Mind boggling on how he could do that.
He also did Samatau, a Kazakh song, in 2020's festival. Also recorded in his studio. Should check that one out, if you hadn't.
Yes, the full sense of loss, is very evident int his song. His love had left him, or is leaving him, hence the title, Don't Go. Last phrase was, Let's stay like this (together) forever... That just rips at your heart.

This version "Ikanaide" (行かないで) ) is the original, from 1989, composed by Koji Tamaki (famous Japanese singer, born in 1958) with lyrics by Goro Matsui. The version "Autumn Strong" (Late Autumn), sung in Chinese, uses the same song, but has another lyrics (Yaqui Cheung, from 1993) and another theme: It talks about the Japanese actress Yoshiko Yamagushi, very dear to the Chinese, who was deported when they discovered her Japanese origin (his real name was Li Xiang Lan and we're talking about World War II, where Japan was China's enemy) and never returned to China. In the original version, the lyrics are more intimate, sentimental and more recognized worldwide. It means: "Please don't go!". They probably already wrote to you that Dimash also performs a song in Chinese with this music. Some sources claim that the author of the song Koji Tamaki was inspired by the real story of actress Yoshiko Yamaguchi when creating it.
But for me it's a completely different song, with a different text, a different meaning, and not just a translation. Therefore, the version that I read somewhere in the comments is closer to me, that the author of the words to Ikanaide wrote about his terminally ill wife. In this vein, the words of the song take on a special meaning. I do not claim the truthfulness of this version, but for me, in Dimash's performance, "Late Autumn" sounds like the tragedy of a deported actress, and "Ikanaide" sounds like the pain of the impending loss of a loved one and the inability to change it.
Both versions are very touching, but Ikanaide is one of my favorite Dimash songs.
