Shiva is known as Kapalini- one who begs with Brahmakapaalam (Brahma's skull, His 5th head that was cut off by Shiva) in His hands. He wears garland of skulls. O Siva! You are the treasure of compassion and mercy! O consort of Uma, Parvathi! O protector! Please come! O lord of the sabha! (reference is to Thillai Natarajar) Will you show me your mercy at least in the future? You protect even people of the lowest castes/classes! You are ArdhanArISvara- you accepted Parvati as your second half to become one body! You are adorned with crescent moon and wear tiger skin! You are one who drank ocean of poison! O! NilakaNTha! O! Resident of kailAsa, who kicked away yama, the god of death! O! natESA! O! mahESA! O! the god of light! O! Lord of the universe (world)! O! sadA ShivA! Please let me behold you!

Leji Chandran tamil speaking ancients never called their dancebharatnatyam”. It was stolen by pale skinned foreigners who started calling themselves “brahmins” stole this dance n called it “bharatnatyam”. Everything in india is tamil originated .

In my personal opinion, most of the male dancers of Bharat natyam or any classical Indian dance, eventually become inevitably more feminine in their dance movements. But very few are there among the classical male dancers who capably depict the masculine magnificence in their movements which is the essence of Shiv Thandavam irrespective of the mood expressed. Here is the one!
Certainly, this is well expressed. Bharatanatyam as an expression of the divine has to be rendered in male and female form. This man captures well the masculinity and male physicality of the devotional dance. Female bharatanatyam is beautiful beyond words, but it is such a pleasure and honour to see this man express a masculine form of the dance. I was mesmerised, such a spiritual performance. He was transported and we as watchers followed him to that place. 🙏🙏

I do not know where to start in praising Gaurav Alexey. Thanks to you & Latvia. Thanks to such great dance music compositions from ancient India. Thanks to the Mythology Conceivers. Combination of Mythology essence+ Extraordinary Dance + Singing +Music- for some one like me is not only amazing but highly mesmerising. Shiva need not be manly but must be more FEROCIOS in this stance, in my little knowledge. The postures are amazingly perfect to my eyes. You are one in a BILION.

I am very ashamed for not learning classical dance as being an INDIAN why because this bharatanathyam was born in INDIA but I am very much interested to make my children as a classical dancers if I and many more parents have not done this then we have to tell that once this classical dance was ours but I don't want that situation to occur for us because foreigners coming here and learning our culture and tradition but we are forgetting them but INDIA is a great country it has many more cultures traditions only in INDIA we can see many more traditions mixed in it and we accept every one to join us as they are from other countries and I am proud to be a part in INDIA

Beautiful performance! Clean adavus, precision in executing them, perfect mudras and the passion and devotion to the fine art of Bharatanatyam make this performance a treat to watch. The various poses of Shiva.....holding the trident, showing the garland of skulls around him, the serpent, the deer in one hand and the weapon in another......such beautiful poses! Excellent choreography! Shri Gaura Nataraj is an exemplary dancer, without doubt someone who deserves the highest accolades.
