Strength gains are from load and has almost zero correlation with rpe. This could be doubles at 80% which is a solid stimulus for strength and likely won't beat you up that much at all. More load=more strength gains but it will be hard to recover from much higher than 90%. The main thing that is going to make you sore is rpe and volume. If both of these are relatively low, recovery should be easy
Andrew, which video or podcast mentions your take on “bookending” your workouts? I was listening to your podcast in the car and you comments on breathing sound like our “Mokuso” in Karate, where we sit on our knees before and after workouts with eyes almost closed and breathing slowly. My take on breathing out is a little different than yours. I like to breathe out slowly through my nose pushing my diaphragm down and contracting my abs. I forwarded my recollection of the “bookends” to our Austin, TX Shotokan Karate Dojo. I’d like to send them your audio or video to get your take on it directly. Oh, I’m currently being assessed for a reoccurrence of my melanoma and listened to you and Dr. Peter Attia discussing melanoma treatments. The discussion of death rates was a little depressing considering my condition, but the immunotherapy discussion was interesting as that is what is being considered for my treatment. We are moving from TX back to CA within a week or so and transferring my treatment to a UCLA satellite in San Luis Obispo.
Dan Johns program easy strength is a great example of this.
Lets train bench everyday at a high intensity and let me know what cracks first, your shoulder, or your Cns.
😂😂😂😂
