FYI, most (or all?) other tautline hitch tutorials take the final "upper" loop in the SAME direction as the earlier "lower" "binding" loops. You take it in the opposite direction. I'm not sure how much difference it makes, if any. I've always done it the other way myself. I'm more a sailor than a farmer myself, though it was a summer when I was growing and trying a million climbing cherry tomato plants that got me to give up the conventional "rabbit around the tree" way to tie a bowline and "invent" the alternative way where you "capsize" a knot into a bowline at the end. I wasn't the first, and there are several videos of the alternative technique on RUclips and elsewhere. It takes a BIT more care to get a normal bowline instead of a Dutch Navy bowline using the alternative method, but it's quicker, and it's much easier to customize the size of the loop. Many knot novices find it easier to learn and remember, too.
Oooooh this taught line is new to me and im so excited to know this little trick! Haha In a weird mood but seriously thank you very much for these videos. Apparently knots make me happy ha ha Ha
Well your knots are much better than the 3 knots at my place which are the Can-knot the Will-knot and the Why-knot !! Keep the info and updates growing our way :-{} Happy Holidays !!
We use the taught line hitch on our chenille high tunnels but find that we need to check the tautness of the line daily for it tends to slack off some.
Kevin Gant That might be the type of rope. I had some slippery close line that would slide, but the stuff I'm using in the video does a good job at staying. Also paracord. Other than that maybe the knot just can't hold whatever load you're putting on it.
ckingclosur It's my "manny-pack". I have my phone, a pen, a sharpie, and my leatherman on my belt at all times. So far the only knot I've remembered for years (not counting shoelaces) is the slipknot. Thanks for making it look easy. :)
You’re welcome!
I've watched the first one 37 times I'm gonna cry
That 3rd one was the one I had been looking for. I have my hanging pots hanging at different heights. Thanks for the info.

Thx, I'm saving these knots...I'll be using them in my chicken run. So happy!

Totally agree - highly useful, clear presentation, and guided by practical experience.

Not bad, “not yet had a knot break” ...NOT ANY?! Not ONE knot?! 😳😂
