Evan one of the best fertilizer's for grass is Steer manure, You have 3 steers who have to be leaving paddies, get out your pitch fork and pick them up place them somewhere to dry out, chop them up and spread over where your trying to get the grass to grow almost overnight results

if you drive two post on the low side of the culvert take the panel & hinge it between them when the water comes through the pipe the panel will raise to let the water out & close when it stops & keep the animals out ( less cleaning ) Send that rain to Texas we could use it
The culvert needs to be sized based on the amount of surface area of the drainage basin, ground cover type, and the rainfall frequency charts for your area. Putting the barrier hinged on the outlet end of the culvert as a previous commentor suggested is a great idea.
You need what is called a rat grard for your pipe. It going inside the exit of the pipe and will kick up if debris is going through the pipe so it does not clog up. And when things try to go the opposite way it lays down so they can’t get through.
Whenever we put in culvert pipes, we dig a small hole before and after the entrance and exit, then line it with 6-8'' rip rap. It slows the water down before and after and also eases washouts. Great video.
I’d recommend putting some fertilizer down on the pasture ground too. And like others have said a gate or solid sheet on the outlet side of the culvert would work awesome!
I would double up on the critter grate on the upstream side, First grate would catch majority of crap before it gets to the second grate. This would let water to run thru the culvert and not get plugged up.

For your grate cloggin problem at 12:15 in the video, your problem looks like weeds catching on the paneling and restricting the input flow to the point where it overflows. Your easiest solution is to place two or three extra panels just a few feet upstream, possibly angled so water will flow over them easily if they become clogged. That way those will be the ones that catch *most* of the weeds before it clogs the culvert panel. You will still have to check and clear them on a regular basis, but your culvert won't clog quite as quickly.
You should post a video of you just cutting grass. It's surprisingly enjoyable for some reason. Some of the early outdoors with the Morgans videos of Mike just cutting grass was great.
Evan, your videos have inspired me over the past few years and I too recently bought a 60 hp tractor. I tried to get a TYM but my local dealer didn't have anything in stock so I went with Kioti. That being said, you really need to put your rear remotes to good use and get a hydraulic top link. They are not very expensive and are great to be able to make your adjustments like you did early on from the seat of your rig.
When working, that looks like a good seeder/aerator. I'm interested to see how well the pasture comes back. The tom turkey is funny. Great video as always. Better than what most professional videographers can do.
@@CountryViewAcres they started rolling out their line of seeders while I was working there so probably around 2012 or 13 the first ones came out like this, the new ones are super nice and much more efficient, you should reach out to them being a local Illinois guy they might let you have one to test or keep. They have ones now with discs before the cultipacker, with multiple seed boxes designed for food plots
I hate when I rent stuff and it is old and does not work well. Renter a wood splitter last winter. broke 2 times on the week end. Second time it was a hydraulic hose that shut us down completely. Company still wanted full price for the 2 days.
The spikes (aerators) will help not only to aerate the ground bot allow for good seed placement. Also if you want to also spread some soil amendments etc
A wooden pallet placed on forks before the straps would prevent implements from sliding down forks into tractor grill if forks lift too high. Chance of sliding down forks increases with wet forks. 👍
it seems everyone I watch seem to get too much seed down with that type of seeder. All in the fun of learning a piece of equipment. Looks like it worked out well for you in the end though. Hopefully we get to see it later this summer.

You probably saved a lot of money by buying the seed last year. I usually try to seed ever year but don't think I want to pay the high price this year in our area.
As far as your culvert clogging, maybe it wouldn't clog as easy if it was made of only vertical rods? 🤷♂️ Something kind of like this -> ||||. Kind of like you see in road drains and stuff. You could weld up a frame with vertical lengths of rod and use that instead of square fencing. Come to think if it, maybe if the frame was put in so the rods were positioned horizontally it would work even better? I don't know, just spit ball'n here... lol.
I honestly think you should of used the seeder on the case or your dad's jd 1r as even though you got a cab using that on the tym is that the tym is quite over kill for the seeder (I mean if it works it works. Also Google hates tym and auto correct turns it into tum or time)
Hey Evan--just wondering if you have ever taken the loader off that tractor? I take mine off frequently for instance when haying or mowing pasture. It is so much easier to maneuver with it off and you can get closer to fence lines etc. Also--will you be giving us an update on the new hayfield? Great channel!

If I had a backhoe I would dig out an area in front of the culvert.
The seeder will really help that pasture come back to life and the seeds you planted should do really well with the combination of seeds.

One of the advantages of that machine is that it aerates your turf. That has to be a plus if you have any thatching or compaction
Tractor is compacting the fudge out of it and overseeding is a short term solution gor short sighted numbnutters
A chain harrow pulled behind implement ( rotary cutter, seeder, etc) will spread cow piles in field.

The self leveling loader keeps the forks nice and level. And I took it slow. I know it isn't the ideal way to pick it up.

I thought seed would last forever, but it does not. I had rye that would not germinate at all after a few years old. I hope you have better luck.

You should charge rental company,u fixed their stuck regulator.My dad would hand spread grass seeds on wet areas.Always did well.

Might have been a little less “sketchy” if you’d have lifted it high enough to clear the trailer bed then drive the trailer out from under it.

Depends on what kinds of predators you are trying to keep out. Seed should still be good, after only a year

I haven't taken the loader yet. I plan to an update on the hay field soon. Everything is greening up and starting to grow.

As long as you have some rear weight then I would get the 6 ft.ones they work better for large pallets
