Homosexuality isn't illegal in China. It was not encouraged by social standards for sure, but gay people can definitely live an open life without the fear of facing any sort of legal consequences. In big cities like Shanghai or Beijing, especially among younger generations, being gay was even considered 'cool' in some cases. I live in Shanghai and I have colleagues at work who asked me to be their GBF lolll
Guys... chill please! I live in Brazil, a country VERY homophobic, but we have laws that condemn lgbtphobia, but that do not protect us of being offended in streets or schools. In media LGBTQ... people and art is VERY present, since the 80s we have a lot of LGBTQ artists. Even the governor of my state (Rio Grande do sul) came out as gay last month. Brazil have the biggest gay parade in the world, the youth is more open minded these days. I KNOW that China don't have laws against LGBTQ, but China apply censorship in gay scenes in movies (the news in usa and here says that marvel movies and even Elton John's biographic movie). Don't be rude to me! I'm just asking politely about this, i am not acusing anything. PEACE and thanks for the POLITELY answers. ^^
