    Awesome thank you! Also, do you have any experience with using Helix and DT 25 together?

    • @ChadHuskey
      @ChadHuskey  Год назад +1

      I've never owned one of those amps, so unfortunately I don't have any experience with using the two of them together.
      Summer said that the integration using the Line 6 Link cable wasn't all that fully developed. Which kind of makes sense because the DT line of amplifiers was already towards the end of his life cycle by the time helix really got popular.
      Although just running into the amp, or doing 4 cable method, should get really good results tone wise.
      I've always wanted to try one of those amps to be honest.

    Hey Chad! I’m away from my Helix and had a thought. Can you use snapshots to, say, move a delay from after the amp to before?

    • @ChadHuskey
      @ChadHuskey  3 года назад +1

      You can't use snapshots to move blocks or change block types. Only to change on/off state and parameters.
      You could have a delay block before the amp and one after and use snapshots to control them.

    Quick tip. Ctrl+S saves the preset.

    I'm just reviewing your Helix run through series so I am a little late to this conversation. Hopefully you are still responding? Do you plan to do a run down of the mics? I haven't really experimented much with them. Sounds like I am missing out. I'd like to hear your explanation of the different mics if you have the time. BTW - all of your "Getting Started" videos were very helpful back when. Thanks

    • @ChadHuskey

      I may do something pertaining to the mics at some point, though I'm not sure when that would be.
      To simplify here's how I typically break it down when I'm setting up my cab blocks. There are dynamic, condenser, and ribbon mic's.
      If I want dynamic I go for the SM57. It's a pretty industry standard mic. It's very bright and preset. I like them for a more "in your face" type of sound.
      For ribbon mic's I use the 121. I think it is a great overall mic choice. It's smoother than the 57 and not as much high end.
      For condenser mics I like the U87 and the U67. Similar to the ribbon mic's in terms of character. In the same way that it's not as bright and present as a dynamic mic.
      I like to use a ribbon or condenser if I want a warmer and more rounded sound. Whereas the 57 if I want it more up front.
      It's hard to describe sounds, using terms like warm, round, smooth, etc just give a broad idea, but should give you an idea.
      I'd recommend pulling up your favorite presets and experiment with the 57, 121, and the U87/67 and see what you like.
      You'll be the only one who can decide what you like best.
      Of course you can experiment with any of the mic's, but I've found it saves me time to find a few that I really like and that speeds up the process for picking what I want to use.
      As always though just use your ears. There aren't too many mic choices and it's a fairly quick process to scroll through them and see what jumps out at you.
      Hope this helps.

      @@ChadHuskey Thanks bud, that was the kind of description I was thinking of. I'm not a live performance player so not much mic experience. Very helpful ideas though. I have seen people task about masking comparisons with a loop for convenience. I may have to go that route. Thanks for responding to an older post. 👍

    Thank you. But did I miss it? You didn't assign the snapshot to any foot pedal. Newbie here. Unit arrived in 2 days.

    • @ChadHuskey
      @ChadHuskey  2 года назад +2

      That's a good question. Basically helix has a snapshot footswitch mode.
      So you don't have to assign snapshots to footswitches. You just have to set helix to show snapshots.
      In the global settings you can choose if you want the footswitches to show presets, stomps, snapshots, or a mix of both.
      Personally I use stomp mode for all of the stomp on/off, then the regular view is 8 snapshots.
      I do that because I don't change presets live very often, so I like to have lots of options for the preset I'm on.
      I'd say experiment with the different footswitch modes and see what suits you best.

      @@ChadHuskey Planning on playing this through my Fender Blues Deluxe. Will that work?

    • @ChadHuskey
      @ChadHuskey  2 года назад

      @@douginny you can certainly send the helix through your blues deluxe 👍
      That won't change how you setup the footswitches.

    Is there a way to do this without using helix edit?

    • @ChadHuskey
      @ChadHuskey  2 года назад

      Yes, everything you can do in edit can be done on the unit itself 👍
