VERY HELPFUL, thank you. Actually am on my way to buy my first motorbike, I've been researching Keeway for a while, and now I can go to the dealer and sound like an expert thanks to your amazingly detailed review 😁
Nice review, I am from Ecuador and have a Keeway Superlight 200, looks just the same as the 125 but adds an oil radiator. as said in this presentation, yes the tires really suck they are not to be trusted in humid or wet conditions. the head light is poor, just needs to be changed for one that does the job, the gas gauge is uncomfortable to see...that in the downside. On the other hand, the bike is very reliable, nice engine, soft ride, easy to handle, it is not a speed bike, it's a cruiser, so speed is out of the question. I ride it on a daily basis from my home in the valley to the city of Quito and back, that is a 40 mile ride with 50% going up-hill. Without forcing the machine, in 5th gear it runs at an average of 80-90 Km/h at 6000 RPM; going in a flat, non-hill road, it will take 110-120 Km/h. I do recommend this bike, looks nice, behaves nice, does the job and it is very economical.
Back here again...I have done a few 'minor' modifications to my Keeway Superlight 200, the first an no really minor, was changing the tires to a set of Pirelli's, these work so much better that the original Cordial which came as stock...the second little thing was that I changed the air intake, cancelled the original and added a conic intake...gives me 3 or 4 HP increase. The sound is accute, but it is running great. I will keep you all posted.
Hi Jose. You have said that you drive to the hills with the bike. How does it behave when driving uphill? I was condidering this bike but I live in a part of the town which is quite higher then the rest of the town and I'm worried that motor cannot handle it.
Excellent review. I drive a 4.6 Mustang, which is very heavy on fuel, so I was thinking of getting something more economical for routine trips, and figured a bike was the way to go, although the closest I've ever come to riding one was watching episodes of 'Sons of Anarchy', and the Superlight looks great as well as being cheap to run and might be the solution I've been looking for. Thanks again. Nice job.
Really nice review man! One of the best on RUclips! Love that you explain what the problems and solutions are, and what to do when you buy it. I’m about to order one.
I'm getting a used one that's been fixed up on Saturday and It can't come soon enough. Especialy since here in the UK we have to complete a day of Compulsary basic training on a 125 before we can go on any land that isn't private. So that's my Friday. Ive been driving cars and riding bicycles for 27 years so I've been looking forward to this and it's been a long time coming. Really enjoyed your clear straightforward run down thankyou.
Very nice review. in general your reviews are one of the best on web - you probably already know it. A small technical correction to your review: you have stated the engine output to be 8 Horse power, while it is 8 Kilo watts. which means, it has around 10.9 horse power. the conversion multiplier between kilo watts and horse power, is 0.734 KW for each 1 horse power.
The last line was a surprise!!! You own it!!! The bike's color and switch gear kind of mimics the Harley Davidson Iron 883... So do you own all top three bikes sold in Portugal?? I mean do you also own the PCX 125???
I first spotted this bike when riding around london. I liked the design but didn't know who keeway were. When researching, I became quite wary of recommending anyone to ride this pretty Chinese bike. I also tried searching for where I could find spare parts for it...wasn't easy. Having said that, if someone is interested in getting a cheap and pretty Harley wannabe bike which is legal for L plate riders in the UK and is not fussed about depreciation and low resale value, this is the bike for you before you upgrade to something bigger. I look forward to seeing how keeway develops in the years to come.
Cager, here in Denmark you aren't allowed to drive a 125ccm bike with a regular car license. Regular car license here is 50ccm max. Then we have the A2 bike license which is 125 ccm max, A1, which is 500 ccm and 48 HP max. And then the Full on A level which is unrestricted.
I think the driving license regulation is the same within the whole EU now, here in Germany as well but the A1 is 125 ccm and the A2 is up to 48 bhp max and then the fully unrestricted A ... it´s very stupid though, I liked it better before ...
Yes, it's almost the same in France. There are 4 categories of motorcycle licence : Am (certificate delivered in midschool) up to 50cc, A1 up to 125 cc, A2 up to 48 cv, A for bigger bikes. Previously, car drivers could ride scooters and bikes up to 125cc after the second anniversary of their B licence. Because they had lot of accidents, the State now requires a 7 hour formation (without examination) in addition of the B licence. It allows them also to ride 3-wheelers more than 125cc, like the Piaggio MP3 300 or 500, very popular in France.
Here you are just allowed to ride 50ccm scooters when you have the B license, because it includes the AM (formerly just M) license and 3 wheelers too :)
MsDarkness408 Here in the uk it's CBT/A1; 125cc A2: 47bhp/35Kw A: full license CBT is a day long course which qualifies you to ride 500cc mopeds/125cc bikes for two years, I'm not sure if it's the same for you
I purchased the 07 model which only had just a little over 1000 miles on the clock as its previous owner had it garaged for many years. It was pretty much mint condition and just needed the battery replacing... Been riding it 4 months now and I'm kind of regretting it. The gears stick from time to time (not a deal breaker at all, just annoying), I've had nuts fall off, a bolt brake off so the thread now needs to be drilled to extract it out, the mirrors don't tighten near enough to withstand wind so they're constantly moving, the bracket for my carburetor cover also snapped off, the exhaust has came loose, the tires aren't the best in wet conditions and the bike just vibrates way too much and has a lot of rattle, hence nuts coming loose. The newer models may have these issues resolved, but I do regret not going for something more reliable. I do genuinely like the bike though, just little things happens too regularly which makes me question how long it's going to last.
(cont...) Now, the positives. This is a good first bike: Low power (meaning low acceleration and top speed, and therefore a greater margin of error for a rookie), relatively light and, I would say, reasonably good looking (on that department, the only change I made was to remove the large white letters saying KEEWAY on each side of the seat; I don’t need to pretend to ride an Indian, but I also don’t like to advertise in large letters that my bike has the name of a cheap soda). Low power also means that it’s a slog climbing up hills. With the world renown patience of Portuguese drivers, I can tell you it’s a lot of fun. I’m short so I also benefit from the low riding position. The seat is very soft, excellent for short rides, but makes my ass numb during longer ones.
It is a lovely bike I am in the process of getting one at the moment. My Honda cbf 125 is on deaths door, when I see this bike in the shop I just kind of fell in love with it. It won't be as fast but it will be a welcome change in look and riding style. I was slightly worried about the reliability being from China but knowing it's made in Europe has put my mind at rest some what :)
Some day I’ll be getting one. Despite the flaws, it seems to be enjoyable journey into motorcycles, especially with first bike. Fairly cheap, good looking, sounds good, and with defects you learn to fix stuff.
(cont...) Secondly, rust is showing in several places, including the chain. I bought and have been using an anti-rust spray, and it helps (rubbed with an old toothbrush). Still, as mentioned, the bike is only a little over 1 year old. I should say that I live by the sea and the mechanic I go to tells me that this is a particular bad area in that department. He said that is usual for him to see BMWs and other bikes covered in it. I’ve noticed the same thing with cars around here, with the paint looking like it peeled off.
It does have a very nice look, doesn't it.A few reasons that small displacement bikes do not sell well in the US are no licensing restrictions, more wide open spaces, cheaper gas than Europe, and a cultural thing of thinking that bigger is better. It does seem to be changing some but small is considered 250cc to 400cc.Congrats on adding another bike to the stable and I hope that it serves you well. I voted today, did you guys vote?
I am not really interested in 125s, so I was considering to skip this video... But I have finally watched it entirely and have been VERY surprised by your last sentence ;)! Congrats! FYI the bestsellers in France are very different for the ones in Portugal : 1) MP3 500 ; 2) X-Max 125 ; 3) T-Max 530 ; 4) Kawa Er6 ; 5) Kawa Z800... No Pcx, No Keeway, Nor NC-700 in the top 10. The ranking of the most stolen bikes is almost the same : 1) T-Max 530 ; 2) MP3 500 ; 3) Yamaha BWs / MBK Booster 50 ; 4) Kawa Z800...
The only reason why I'm getting a 125cc is because that's the max cc I can get at 16 in Ireland and I'm looking at the keeway superlight (not this one but the one with the saddle bags etc) and any um renegade 125,thank you for the review
(cont...) Thirdly, only a week ago I had to take her to the mechanic. The problem, I was told, was with a tube somewhere that broke. The reason being the use by Keeway of a cheap plastic material, and with the vibration, it cracked. Because the tube had a certain extra, all they had to do was pull it a bit and the problem was temporarily solved (they didn’t charge me anything, so I wasn’t picky). But of course, the tube is the same, and the problem is likely to show up again later. I was told mine wasn’t the first they had seen with this issue. Worse, they told me Keeway was ordering their representatives not to include this particular problem in the guarantee.
A quick review to anyone considering buying this bike: Mine is a Superlight LE 125, bought a little over a year ago and with only c. 2500km. First thing, replace the Chinese Cordial tires it comes with! They are VERY DANGEROUS under wet weather. I suspect almost anything you buy will be an improvement. I bought 2 Metzeler and, to my amazement, noticed the difference immediately, even in dry weather. So, again, unless you live in the middle of the desert, replace the tires (I live in Portugal and still felt the need for it...).
Hi Richard Bygrave, did you get your bike? How does it feel? I'm going to study to a place fairly away from home and I have three options to get there: - take 1 hour and half with public transportation - take half an hour with the car but spending a massive amount of money in fuel - make an investment and buy a cheap, fairly quick and reliable 125 engine because I don't have the A2 licence Would you recommend this bike?
I think they fixed most of the issues by now, also has disk at the back. I want to buy one for winter riding cause I will literally not care if I crash it to pieces because it's so cheap.
grande review, honesta e "straight to the point"... parabéns! Tenho uma Daelim daystar black e esta seria a minha escolha paralela... embora a Daelim tenha algo mais que me atrai... mas fico sempre a olhar qd esta passa
Very nice rewiev, one of the best. Now it comes with better halogen lamp, fuel injection and both side discs brakes :) I am about to get one of these soon 😉😊😊😊
Certainly looks nice and for this price it seems to be a good bargain ... but 8bhp is really not much, most 125 ccm bikes have 11 to 15 bhp here .. anyway congrats to your wife, hope you both have fun riding around :)
Sure, I don´t think it would be much faster, average speed of the 125ccm bikes with 11 to 15 bhp is still 110-120 km/h here but I mean it would be more comfortable riding in the city and overtaking other cars ... :)
Great review. Thank you. Love Portugal. Love the Portuguese. I am just deciding whether to buy new Chinese or buy old Honda Shadow 125. You have helped me decide. I think I am erring towards the Honda Shadow.
(cont...) There is another problem with the bike (all of them, it seems, not just mine): when trying to go from first to neutral the pedal gets stuck. So, if I stop at a red light and want to put it in neutral, I’m forced to give it a little gas to loosen it (it’s the only thing that seems to work), which I guess makes me look like an asshole to anyone around me, listening to me accelerate for no reason. Turning the engine off solves the problem, so it isn’t an issue when you want to park. I read somewhere that Keeway cloned the engine of a Yamaha and that the original had this problem… Nothing but thorough, the Chinese, when it comes to stealing other people’s work.
Well you get what you pay for( old expression ) for me in north America I would preferr a used. 250 v twin yammaha or a sussuki s40...650 cc single cy...both great smaller cruiser styled bikes.......good used is always better than new crap.I do enjoy 99% of your stuff.
Hello, You mention Keeway forums in your video. I have just bought a Superlight, thanks to your video! 👍 I am desperately looking for recources on the Superlight. Could find a special forum for Keyway riders in German or English. Could you please name any if you know of, even if it's not English or German? Thank you and ride safe
I'm thinking of buying one and I must say this video actually gave me a sense of raw and true information so... yeah, thks!! I live in Porto and am looking for my very first bike! the more I learn about this one the more I feel this is the right thing to start with! ticks the three boxes... xD maybe in the future get a better machine but yeah... thank you for your candor in giving us the truth about the bike!! really helpfull good job! P.S. you got yourself one more sub!! ;) abraço
I got mine a month ago and Av had nothing but problems, weird engine noises, won't go in to gear, power lose, no cluch, and rusty as hell in the first few days. Am trying to get it replaced or my money back, but even thats turning in to a night mare
You helped me make the decision to buy the Keeway Superlight 125cc! Thank you so much man! Do you have any recommendations regarding what Mirrors and/or Lamp to buy for it? (As the default light and mirrors aren‘t good)
We have the Superlight 200 carb version in the Philippines too but was phased out already since 2017 or 2018? Also the stock tires suck too but other owners said that the stock tires need or is part of the break-in period of the bike.
Hey i`m from Romania and i bought this bike second-hand for 450 euros. It`s the normal edition not limited like yours but it has 150 cmc. It`s my frist bike, i dont have a permit to ride it (A2) but i did a few runs on it, like 30 min in total and i think it`s easy to ride, i have no experience on a bike, the neutral it`s maybe a bit tricky. It has 6000 km, you think it`s a good choice for a first bike ? :) Only problem is that the clutch cable snapped :(, i have to try and find a new one wich won`t be that easy, but everything else aside it runs great i think.
hi from CZ, I have one superlight 150cc / 2007 /9000 km at home and I have to say this bike is one big technical problem. clutch is sliding, bearing in the engine is broken, very bad plastic tails... but still is it beautiful bike I like to drive. Did You try to change the front/rear sprocket? I think about increase the top speed from 85kmh to 100kmh .. Rear sprocket 41 tooth to rear sprocket 38 tooth..what do yout think?
How tall are you, Cager? I love the look of the bike and am considering buying one, but i'm pretty tall (6'2), so I figure I might have my knees above the fuel tank.
Yusuf Stark I have one for a year.go to work every day,in a road thats one of the european road with more traffic.and can tell you that its very easy to drive.and the price doesnt go down when to sell
(cont...) Bottom line, I wouldn’t mind a bit more power and, while not expensive, there are other 125s, even by Keeway, that are cheaper, though not as good looking. Still, to me at least, it strikes a reasonable balance between price-performance-looks. I didn’t mention fuel consumption, I haven’t bothered to measure it, but it seems to be low. It is too early to draw too many conclusions regarding reliability, even if the early signs aren’t promising. I’m not sure I would buy it again, knowing what I know now. And maybe that’s the conclusion to draw: it’s a so-so, ok bike. Keep your expectations low and you may enjoy it.
:) I have one.and I just love her!!!my first bike.its the perfect first bike.annnddd beautiful!sure...it has no power.good for first bike.we cant go faster,we cant do stupid things. :) and its super easy to drive.now,1 year later I will buy the TRK, but im sad to sell this one.shes so beautiful. :)
VERY HELPFUL, thank you. Actually am on my way to buy my first motorbike, I've been researching Keeway for a while, and now I can go to the dealer and sound like an expert thanks to your amazingly detailed review 😁
Did you bought it ?

This is the one I got as my first bike... I am from Mexico, difficult to get here, but it is a great machine, I love it!

what do you think is the gas consumption of this bike? is it okay for everyday use? atleast 16km of riding ty
120km/h impossible with 10cv
What was the total cost for replacing the tyres and head light? Also, what tyres did you go with?
Portugal is fantastic, loved the view!
Excellent review. Portugal is so beautiful damn.
4:00 That has nothing to do with power, it's got to do everything with engine temperature and choke, though.
Never been to Portugal, it looks beautiful as did the bike .Good honest review (good English too). 🇬🇧😁
Very nice review. in general your reviews are one of the best on web - you probably already know it.
A small technical correction to your review:
you have stated the engine output to be 8 Horse power, while it is 8 Kilo watts. which means, it has around 10.9 horse power.
the conversion multiplier between kilo watts and horse power, is 0.734 KW for each 1 horse power.
10.46 hp exactly

I bought one of these before watching this video but im still waiting for delivery. I'm glad you like it, I hope I do too! Great video

A: full license.

Good luck with the KTM RC 390. Hope all the bolts are tight in the engine :( Big smiles on little bikes is the way we roll in Vietnam.

Hi! Good review and I have a question; does this bike have a storage place under the seat??? Thank you!
grande review, honesta e "straight to the point"... parabéns! Tenho uma Daelim daystar black e esta seria a minha escolha paralela... embora a Daelim tenha algo mais que me atrai... mas fico sempre a olhar qd esta passa
I want to buy this as the first bike I ever ride .. do you recommend it ?
What pretty houses they have in the old town!
Hi. Found your review of keeway and the most I like of it it's the places you've been riding your bike. Can you tell what's the place? Where is it?
Lol I liked the plot twist at the end. What a lovely looking cheap bike though.
pedestrians walking like cows on your road :)
I agree with your reasons to buy 125, economy, cheap and preatty.
Very nice rewiev, one of the best. Now it comes with better halogen lamp, fuel injection and both side discs brakes :) I am about to get one of these soon 😉😊😊😊
Great Review cager thanks had mine for about 3 months now.
I love Portugal! Lisbooon vamos!
PONTY PRIDD xDdddD
Would you recommend this as a first bike though? The tires will probably have to be changed, but it looks beautiful nonetheless
Congrats! That's a nice bike to own in Portugal.
I misread your post as
"Congrats. Nice bike to clown around on in Portugal"
Thanks - you just saved me £1900
I'll look for something else
Restrictor? What is that and how to remove?
Mine arrives this week Cager, brand new 2015 in Matt Black, please dont let me down lol
Hello, mine arrived in a week, exactly the same as yours!
I'm so keen to know, how is it ?!?! Have I made a mistake buying one ?
+john soderberg Now write here, you did make a mistake? And how is it? xD ( months et months delay to answer )
+john soderberg How is it, any regrets, please let us know...
Any regrets? Please tell us the pros and cons.
And he never came back
Hey! Portugal is beautiful! You are lucky!
Good review. Nice bike indeed for a quick run or cruise in warm weather
Nice way to end the video Cager...... Drop the bomb! LOL! Great job, love it.
this is a good video review. now I learn more about this bike. keep doing this, i love it....
Great video!, thanks for all the info!, is this a good bike for a first bike?, for a complete newbie with bikes, thanks
Great video, this is now July 2020 and I’m looking for a second hand one of these, I’m in Berkshire in the UK...
Great video. Thanks for this. Also, I can't help but mention the pedestrians in the video walk around like npcs in a GTA game 🤣
Is this a good first bike?
Yes, it is light, don't have huge torque that will make it jump, and easy to control.
should i buy it as my 1st bike
Nope. It's very slow.
Slow and poor quality. Buy a Yamaha or Honda for your first bike.
THE BEST TEST EVER SUPERLIGHT 125 LIMITED
! obrigado
Thank you for your review. This has helped me before I purchase a bike.
Nice review. I have a superlight i love it. Feel like im on a little harley.
Congrats!, keep us posted!
Where in Portugal was this filmed exactly? Lovely place to plan my next Hollidays.
I can't decided between the Sinnis Hoodlum, the lexmoto michigan and this.
Did you decide...what did you get? Thanks
Great review. Thank you. Love Portugal. Love the Portuguese. I am just deciding whether to buy new Chinese or buy old Honda Shadow 125. You have helped me decide. I think I am erring towards the Honda Shadow.
Charming bike - I think the injected engine doesn't stop for a full throttle in neutral :)
I have this bike in Colombia..not bad for the money..rides good 👍 good review
Great review! I'm considering the 200cc version myself.
whats the 200 cc like
What would you choose for your first cruiser 125cc? Keeway Superlight or Lexmoto Michigan? Btw, very nice review =D
Haha , I'm facing the same dilema , which one did you get ?
@@Grumpycat95 I didn't choose yet. It's kind a hard decision. I was hoping someone can advise me a little bit hehe :D
Um óptimo final....
(cont...)
There is another problem with the bike (all of them, it seems, not just mine): when trying to go from first to neutral the pedal gets stuck.
Cascais é muito bonito! I am going to buy this bike, looks awesome.
You are FANTASTIC! thanks for a great review.
How big are you?I'm pretty athletic 74kg 175cm and I can see well in those mirrors.
Hi.Nice review! And nice bike,do you recommend it for a beginner? This would be my first bike. Thanks
estranhei logo no inicio o facto de não estares a arrancar de um stand, algo se passava! ahah
Boas curvas à Cagerina! :)
Hello,
You mention Keeway forums in your video. I have just bought a Superlight, thanks to your video! 👍 I am desperately looking for recources on the Superlight. Could find a special forum for Keyway riders in German or English. Could you please name any if you know of, even if it's not English or German?
Thank you and ride safe
Love the review ! But would you recommend it for a first bike buyer ? Thanks in advance.
Good review.. Very comprehensive.. I might go for this one in Bangladesh.. It has arrived recently in market costing like usd 2100
P.S. you got yourself one more sub!! ;) abraço
Did you get one?
for anyone wondering this bike now has fuel injection
I got mine a month ago and Av had nothing but problems, weird engine noises, won't go in to gear, power lose, no cluch, and rusty as hell in the first few days. Am trying to get it replaced or my money back, but even thats turning in to a night mare
Good for first time rider? I need it for work, traveling maybe 25-30 miles under an hour? Should take 35-45 mins?
Great vlog dude but what are those knee pads for!
Nice video.. I'm planning to get one. do you recommend this bike on first time bike owner like me...
Can I ride this if I'm 1.70 m ? If not, can it be adjusted ?
Yea I’m 1.8 and I’m all good
You helped me make the decision to buy the Keeway Superlight 125cc! Thank you so much man!
Do you have any recommendations regarding what Mirrors and/or Lamp to buy for it? (As the default light and mirrors aren‘t good)
Hey Pedro how are you, currently the price on their website is at around 2300 eu. Did the price increase over these years?
Two disc brake ,rear and front, cbs and efi
Hah! Surprise ending!
How tall are you, Cager? I love the look of the bike and am considering buying one, but i'm pretty tall (6'2), so I figure I might have my knees above the fuel tank.
+Ash Legg im 6ft 3 and the ride is nice, knees are a little high but by no means uncomfortable :)
whats your top speed on this bike
cager, is this bike any good at filtering through traffic, whats it like in cold weather and does it hold it value when it comes to sale?
GoVir4l Ive seen lots of them then ;)
Yusuf Stark I have one for a year.go to work every day,in a road thats one of the european road with more traffic.and can tell you that its very easy to drive.and the price doesnt go down when to sell
Looks really nice, I'd like a 250 though. Something like a Suzuki TU250X (even if I have a 100hp bike now).
(cont...)
Bottom line, I wouldn’t mind a bit more power and, while not expensive, there are other 125s, even by Keeway, that are cheaper, though not as good looking.
