Literally no excuse for not firing Coach Henson at this point. Henson and his staff are literally stealing money from the university. The entire OL staff has yet to develop any player in 3 years.

Gentry has been a disappointment since his arrival. Missed tackles, blown coverages. Don't drink the kool-aid. Wat h the tapes. Once in a while there are flashes of brilliance, but generally a disappointment. Perhaps he is misused, but definitely Missed coached.

We saw some good things tonight, although the turnovers killed us again, and the bad calls and taking back of a Minnesota time out hurt.. Some game changers. Ok I’m coming clean. I have been a Trojan fan since 1974. I have seen John McKay, John Robinson and Pete Carroll have amazing squads affectionately called southern cal by the hated adversaries but with respect. Between these 3 guys 7 natty’s and many runner ups and or top 5 finishes with countless heisman, all Americans and legendary assistant coaches. Iam not including others that were head coaches that failed and theses guys were Larry smith, Ted tollner, Paul hacket, sark, kiffin and Helton. I have decided after watching a good SC team collapse on the road to Minnesota and how they lost made me realize Lincoln is overpaid and should be an OC in the NFL.
I can't recall a season under Smith, Tollner, Hacket, Kiff, Sark, or Helton where we lost TWO consecutive road games in the last 4 minutes of the 4th quarter in BOTH games. Can you?
I commented before this game that the Minnesoia Golden Gophers were a very good team and that it is hard to win on the road. So for me I am not surprised this would be a tight game that could have gone either way. This is year Three of rebuilding USC Football from the ground up. We have a very young team with underclassmen playing and we still do not have enough quality depth. Look at our linebacker depth right now. It took Jim Harbaugh eight years to turn Michigan around and win a national championship. At the start of this year a lot of experts said USC would go 7 - 5 or 8 - 4. I think this loss should tell the fans to not have unreaalistic expectations. I look at this loss as growing pains with our roster. I also thought the three turnovers really hurt us. We are two plays away from being a 5 - 0 team and are instead a 3 -2 team. We are very young playing underclassmen going up against upperclassmen on the other teams. # 1 Alabama lost on the road to Vanderbilt yesterday.
A.) To his credit, USC has rarely turned the ball over during Riley's first couple of years. TOs are killing us this season. B.) Eric Gentry is Hugely missed. He's our best playmaker on D, and brings so much fire/intensity to this team. C.) Our WR group - high potential, very talented but they are too unreliable...way too many drops thru 5 games, especially on critical downs. They have to be Coached up better. D.) Despite his fumble, Joyner needs way more touches. His Vision is Excellent. And he hits the holes so hard and with tremendous quickness. E.) I dk what's up with ZB. I would take him off punt returns. We need better plays than laterals and bubble screens to get him involved in the offense. Why can't we use ZB the way Bama uses Ryan Williams?! Very Disappointing road loss, but the season ain't over! Fight On!!

FACTS … because Riley‘s RPO offense is all finesse and soft - predicated on throwing 30-40 short passes with a sprinkle of a run game. As a Lifelong Trojan, USC undergraduate and Graduate, I'm so disappointed at the continual lack of effort from our football team. I also attended this game and am frustrated with the excuses made from the coaches and players as we had no business losing this game, period. It all amounts to poor leadership & and lacking the desire to play with 100% effort.
The Big Ten is too much for USC from top to bottom. He had everything going for him including the press. The dude was ranked #11 based on absolutely nothing. Now this press baby has dropped out of the top 25.
I am just confused on some of these answers. Lincoln never take accountability in some of these issue. Yeah the player play but your OT been struggling all year and on a important play you decided to throw the ball on a 3&4 when you been running the ball for about 7 yards a carry like you said. I would have been happier if you ran it twice to get a first down than to throw on 3rd. But instead you want to take a shot in field goal range and get int/ fumble. You have to manage the game and get points! Up 10 probably about 6 mins left they can’t just run anything they have to throw the ball.
Regress- the action of returning to a former or less developed state. Lincoln Riley is 22-10 through 32 games as the USC head coach. Clay Helton was 23-9. This happened with Riley at OU aswell, not as quickly like it has at USC but he got worse each year. I guess SC didn’t go over the return investment section of the Riley hire.

I'm tired of Riley's postgame script. Nothing but excuses and no changes or self-accountability. His play calling is horrid and mediocre. Michigan and Minnesota should have been wins. USC is super lazy; they walk up to the line on both sides of the ball. The entire defense is walking and watching while some tackle and others are spectators. Minnesota showed much more heart and passion. Congrats Gophers, you smoked a top 50 team.
We lost this game due to same issue we have had since week 1. Slow start and the offense continuing to drive down the field into the opponents territory and sels destruct with penalties, miss fg's, turnovers and drop balls. Happens every game multiple drives. Can't win playing like that.

I have seen massive improvements from the defense from the past 3 years and the boys are working so do not think of those losses as a indictment or reflection on USC as a quality team because they improve every week that is just the beauty of sports

IMO, I do not think LR cares if we win or lose. He get about $11 mil a season. He is sitting comfortable with the contract. He is not motivated, possesses no fundamentals and just not a good HC. We will never be the same again. Just a mediocre team and losing battles to teams like UW, Oregon left and right. Expect flips from current recruits.

if Maiava doesn't play next week, this season is over. Moss is a great QB but he doesn't run and that is an immutable fact. We can't lose games to not hurt feelings. This is what killed us last year with Grinch. We need a two QB system until one can do it alone but the first half offense performance is very bad three games in a row.

USC has 2 losses by a combined 10 points. They’ve had leads in the 4q in both of them. These fall on LR and his play calling. You’ve been running the ball at 7 yards per clip. Stick to the run, especially when you know your tackles are abysmal in pass protection. I know miller needed to get rid of the ball .5 second quicker on that pick, but mason murphy was getting absolutely murdered the entire game and doing miller no favors
First the Offense….Off tackles are not as good as they think they are … Put O’Connor back at center Move Monheim to Left tackle… Offensively we do not use the middle of the field in the passing game… How many times were the TE’s thrown the ball to today? We like to throw the ball out wide and hope receivers can make plays, that’s our passing game. Defense: Covington gets burned every game, middle backers are to small…don’t fill gaps, don’t get off blocks, don’t tackle well, Rb’s always bouncing off or following forward. Def.ends Lucas and Muhammad are good for maybe 1 play each a game… When was the last time Muhammad had a sack or tackle for loss. Lastly we don’t play with swag or with a mean streak… we don’t have that killer instinct… Teams are not afraid of us… like in the Pete Carroll days… we had teams beat before we even stepped on the field. Maybe need another year or two on the new defensive coaching staff to bring in the players they want… get rid of all the Grinch left overs.

Two main issues in this game: tackling on defense and o-line pass-blocking. Gentry is missed badly; he's the MVP on defense.

The time-out was a mistake by the officials. The player was giving a defensive play call not a time-out.

Everytime we play an agressive team (look back at the Utah games) he folds- he only relies on the talents of the players and forgets to coach or should I say lead them to a victory. As a Lifelong Trojan, USC undergraduate and Graduate, I'm so disappointed at the continual lack of effort from our football team. I also attended this game and am frustrated with the excuses made from the coaches and players as we had no business losing this game, period. It all amounts to poor leadership & and lacking the desire to play with 100% effort.
The Big Ten is too much for USC from top to bottom. He had everything going for him including the press. The dude was ranked #11 based on absolutely nothing. Now this press baby has dropped out of the top 25.

I am just confused on some of these answers. Lincoln never take accountability in some of these issue. Yeah the player play but your OT been struggling all year and on a important play you decided to throw the ball on a 3&4 when you been running the ball for about 7 yards a carry like you said. I would have been happier if you ran it twice to get a first down than to throw on 3rd. But instead you want to take a shot in field goal range and get int/ fumble. You have to manage the game and get points! Up 10 probably about 6 mins left they can’t just run anything they have to throw the ball.

I'm tired of Riley's postgame script. Nothing but excuses and no changes or self-accountability. His play calling is horrid and mediocre. Michigan and Minnesota should have been wins. He is not worth the millions Folt is paying him. He needs to be fired if he doesn’t change or salvage this season. This is ridiculous. Hats off to the Gophers, well-played and played 60 minutes. Penn State is going to be tougher.
USC is super lazy; they walk up to the line on both sides of the ball. The entire defense is walking and watching while some tackle and others are spectators. Minnesota showed much more heart and passion. Congrats Gophers, you smoked a top 50 team.
We lost this game due to same issue we have had since week 1. Slow start and the offense continuing to drive down the field into the opponents territory and sels destruct with penalties, miss fg's, turnovers and drop balls. Happens every game multiple drives. Can't win playing like that.

IMO, I do not think LR cares if we win or lose. He get about $11 mil a season. He is sitting comfortable with the contract. He is not motivated, possesses no fundamentals and just not a good HC. We will never be the same again. Just a mediocre team and losing battles to teams like UW, Oregon left and right. Expect flips from current recruits.

if Maiava doesn't play next week, this season is over. Moss is a great QB but he doesn't run and that is an immutable fact. We can't lose games to not hurt feelings. This is what killed us last year with Grinch. We need a two QB system until one can do it alone but the first half offense performance is very bad three games in a row.

USC has 2 losses by a combined 10 points. They’ve had leads in the 4q in both of them. These fall on LR and his play calling. You’ve been running the ball at 7 yards per clip. Stick to the run, especially when you know your tackles are abysmal in pass protection. I know miller needed to get rid of the ball .5 second quicker on that pick, but mason murphy was getting absolutely murdered the entire game and doing miller no favors

First the Offense….Off tackles are not as good as they think they are … Put O’Connor back at center Move Monheim to Left tackle… Offensively we do not use the middle of the field in the passing game… How many times were the TE’s thrown the ball to today? We like to throw the ball out wide and hope receivers can make plays, that’s our passing game.
Defense: Covington gets burned every game, middle backers are to small…don’t fill gaps, don’t get off blocks, don’t tackle well, Rb’s always bouncing off or following forward. Def.ends Lucas and Muhammad are good for maybe 1 play each a game… When was the last time Muhammad had a sack or tackle for loss. Lastly we don’t play with swag or with a mean streak… we don’t have that killer instinct… Teams are not afraid of us… like in the Pete Carroll days… we had teams beat before we even stepped on the field. Maybe need another year or two on the new defensive coaching staff to bring in the players they want… get rid of all the Grinch left overs.
