One of your best videos. The inserts as you demonstrated each shade were seamless. Skin tone matters for sure. Also, I have a small mouth and lip area but love rich shades. You dispel the myth that mature women can’t wear dark colors. I like nude pinks too, but feel richer shades ensure I have lips at all and brighten my complexion. Thank you!
I 100% agree that richer colors bring life to the face. AND, while I wish I had lovely, large, plump, plushy lips, I refuse to let my thinner upper lip stop me from wearing a punchy color! I'm one of those who can get a true mood lift from a great lip color! Thanks so much for your lovely comments!

Love this video and the way you choose your words... so enjoyable to listen to. Honestly, they all look great but I especially love the rich deep tones on you. I don't own any of her lipsticks but want to take the plunge and find that the two that speak to me are the bluer muse and the browner affair. I just think they are beautiful! Loved the video! 💕 Even though I already own every single lipstick Lisa has ever launched, but it’s nice to “chat with a friend about it”. We have different coloring so it’s interesting to see how they work on someone else. I hope you got your new lipsticks already! Cinnabar instantly became one of my favorites. Btw just wanted to say that I’m 100% sure Lisa doesn’t do computer-generated lip swatches for her website. She definitely applies lipstick to every model even though their expressions look similar but if u take a really good look you’ll see they’re each real pictures with real makeup on. Granted the shades don’t always look EXACTLY on me as they do on the models but that’s to do with my lip color, studio lighting, etc. I love Spirited Away! It is indeed very spirited and it wakes up your face instantly. 💋💋💋
Finally a review of LE by someone who has a very similar skin tone to mine! You did a spectacular job with breaking down these shades in a way that I could understand and I plan to use your vid as a guide when ordering from LE. I, too, found it a bit confusing and very hit and miss when deciding what to order from her website, but your research will be enormously helpful in the future. We are so different in skintone but I find your descriptions so interesting! This is a great reference video. I like LE lipsticks but it can get very confusing because the lipsticks can look very different for each person. I feel like I don’t know what I’m going to get. For this reason, I didn’t get all the new releases. I hope there will be a restock along with the foundation release date.

Undertones make a huge difference in color, thank you for this in-depth review! Soft vs. Bright also can make a big difference. I've never tried her lippies, just ordered Rose Official. I have neutral/cool coloring, hope this shade works!

I can’t help in this pandemical age to think of lipstick as aspirational. Even when I put one on to complete a make up look, I know despite what I see in the mirror as a nice finish, the mask will just blot it all off.
I can’t wait for the mask mandates to end so I can wear lipstick again!

Back to lipsticks :))) So you have neutral undertone and choose blue undertone lipsticks? How interesting! My undertone is neutral as well, and I am fair-light, and I find that I strongly gravitate towards warm nudes for my lips. My favorite one from her spring collection is Kitten Mischief. I even got a spare in fear it will be sold out forever. I also got Dance Card and Spirited Away. I didn't like the latter one on me. Too cool and too strong for my liking. I really like her glosses though. I have Go Lightly, Songbird, Affair and I am waiting for Muse and a couple of pencils. I am yet to try her mattes. They all seem overwhelmingly loud for me, and I generally avoid matte formulas. My lips are full, and even without any color people ask me which lipstick I am wearing (none!). So kind of used to play safely with my lip colors.
And oh, I absolutely loved Velvet Ribbon on you! VERY powerful!

This is a good point - it's not that I prefer cool tones - I'm kinda "over" rosewoods because I used to wear them all the time. It's just that I find the more brown-ish tones to be deadening on me unless they have the right undertone. So, I'll go for the blue tones over brown tones. Hope you have fun shopping!

When you described these lipsticks it really gave me a much better understanding of which shades I want to pick up. I just purchased two sets and then a couple of just the lipsticks and I haven't received them yet. I had never heard of Lisa Eldridge makeup before and after seeing this launch I am afraid I am hooked! I just wish I had not missed out on that beautiful bag last year!!! I wish she had included something similar this year. I am new to your channel and I really love your style. And an added bonus for me is that your skin color as you describe it sounds very similar to mine. It will be nice to know if you find shades they may be the correct ones for me as well.
I hope you like the LE lipsticks! I always have a list of my "current" foundations in the the description box with the colors. Right now, I've been rotating three Reboot (getting to be too dark for me now), the Givenchy and the Dior. The Dior in 2n is the lightest and I'll probably move on to that one pretty soon.

You look fabulous in red lipstick! That first one was so bright and beautiful on your skin. It gives me hope that once the mask mandates are over I might start rocking some red lips again. I feel like older women are discouraged from wearing bright colors because we’re supposed to wear nude lips because they’re less “aging” than bright colors, but that first red just threw that whole bunch of garbage in the trash.
I totally disagree - I think nudes are difficult for older women. Bright colors bring life and energy to the face! We just have to get used to them. When you have the right color on - you know it immediately!

My lips are a very pigmented raspberry shade and at 44 Ive only worn clear lip balm my entire life 🙈 lol. Considering that tidbit, I went a little crazy…I ordered Velvet Fawn, Velvet Muse, Muse liner, Songbird gloss and her Cosmic Rose highlight. I am fair/light w cool/neutral undertones so I really hope I’m happy w my shade choices. WOW, Velvet Ribbon is beyond stunning on you😍 it was literally made for you! This video was amazing, thank you!❤️PS…would be fun if you put your graph of shades on IG

Aloha Kiki! this time I just ordered 1 lip liner (petal) which I can use to fill in as a lipstick .I have , I believe 8 of her lipsticks that are pretty much never used, except for Love of my Life and Go lightly ( sadly used up!) . I also have 3 of her glosses but for some reason they just don't work on me, they're blotchy and kind of messy! Also , many thumbs up from me my friend!!!
I'm so sad I was never able to get Go Lightly - but I might go to Temptalia to see what dupes there are!
Great content as always- I've been here since you had a couple hundred subscribers and its great to see you barrelling towards 10k now - I always thought your calm, measured and articulate content would be appealing to our demographic (40+).
The only LE lipstick I current own is Muse, which is worn most days as its easy and works well with my skin tone (cool tone, light-medium). I have had the reds, but rehomed them on Ebay as they always left a blank strip on my lower lip, and it looked like a white stripe whiners I opened my lips. Golightly looked dreadful on me - it settled in my lip lines and was patchy - the worst LE lipstick I ever bought and I don't understand the hype around this shade. Last year I bought Dragon and Blush but they too got rehomed on eBay - neither really suited me.
The Elevated Glow in Cosmic Rose on the other hand is fantastic- I use it daily and have less than a quarter left in the bottle. I have bought the Crystal Nebula version as a replacement when CR is finished. I did buy Cinnabar and Affair at last Friday's launch, as well as the matching lip pencils and the Cinnabar gloss. I hope these suit me, so that that they don't end up being rehomed on Ebay either. I know everyone raves about LE lipsticks, but my experience has been a bit hit and miss.
Colors are so personal, of course. Adding to that our personal comfort zone...not every color will suit every person. Many of her colors are outside my comfort zone, and it's hard to detach from our own perception of what looks good on us color-wise. I would think her "blue" lipsticks would work well with your undertone.
@@TheHoodedLid Thank you! And yes, colour is very personal. It can be difficult to break out of the comfort zone and go for something different. I had been thinking about getting Myth. I hadn't thought much about undertone and what would suit me - I've just watched your video again to remind myself about which of the Velvets have blue in them. My lipsticks arrived and have to say I'm very happy with both Affair (an instant hit) and Cinnabar. Painterly looks lovely on you. I'm in London in early November, and actually visiting Covent Garden to have dinner with friends, so hoping to visit Lisa Eldridge's pop up studio whilst we are there. If she has Painterly available at the pop up, I'm going to buy it.
LOVED this vid. I appreciated the interpretation of the colour groups. Do you paint, because you look at makeup like a painter would.
In the end I had chosen an older LE lippie on this 2021 launch, Myth, but also a couple of lip pencils to match Ribbon and Myth. I wasn't so certain about the four new colours for fall 2021, except the burnt red one, Cinnabar. And that one sold out very quickly. Maybe she'll restock that one for spring 2022. Outside of Love of my Life, I would like to try another lipstick in the Luxuriously Lucent formula, but again will wait until spring 2022,
My daughter laughs at me because I had shared my love for LE products (esp her lippies) with her, (she has Skyscraper Rose and Velvet Fawn, but because of her Psoriasis, can only wear them on special occasions, not on an everyday basis), and told me that I should also do a youtube video....not likely! Hi there! No, I'm not a painter - but I've painted walls a-plenty! I'll put up a color and watch the light change through the day, see how smaller spaces reflect back on each other and the color becomes more intense...I just love color!! Actually, the case was Cartier - and lipstick, Lisa said she knew - but she never told. I've been told that it's Revlon Pink in the Afternoon.

I purchased 2 lipsticks from lisa , unfortunately none really worked for me. 'Go lightly' was a very strange texture , patchy . Muse didnt do much
I prefer Blush over Muse - they are similar in depth of tone, but there's a bit more "liveliness" in Blush
Velvet beauty is a total mystery to me! It looks pink on other people, which is what I wanted because pink looks great on me. Unfortunately, my velvet beauty either got mislabeled and is actually velvet muse, or some sort of strange batch of velvet beauty was sent to me that didn’t pan out. It’s so weird! It doesn’t even swatch pink(ish) the way it does on you 🤷♀️🤔
That is odd. To me Beauty has a LOT of blue in it. I'm not sure I really like it - but when I was editing the video, I did. Lipsticks are funny - I put something on the other day I loved, got in the car and checked it - and the color was very different.
I feel like hair and eye color plays a big role in how lipstick looks on people, even if they are the same skin depth & undertone. Perhaps that would be an interesting video idea, if you happen to have some dark wigs laying around or you could maybe use one of those apps, that let you color your hair and just use pics for demonstration 😅I share the same skin coloring with you, but eg. Velvet Beauty looks much more fresh and vibrant on you, while on me (dark brown eyes, cool dark brown, almost black hair) it looks kinda grey and muted. On contrary, Muse looks more peachy and warm on me, while I see it more as a dusty, slightly cool toned color on you. I think Lisa in the beginning was going by color in her creations, but then it soon turned into creating colors for various skin tones (eg. I think Affair is for medium skin tones, what Fawn is for light, now Blush Lightly for light, what Blush is for med/dark, Dragon for med/dark, what Morning is for light). Overall, this last launch wasn't that interesting to me, I only picked up Velvet Petal (and I am not really sure if it was needed, since I have Dance Card, and her customer service was surprisingly unhelpful when I requested a comparison swatch...). I don't really use lip liners and I am sure hers are lovely, but I don't think they do anything Maybelline ColorSensational can't 🤭. The glosses I have 4 of, but I rarely wear them outside (they are more of a lip treatment in my book, so I wear them at home). What I am most excited for is the foundation, although thanks to that "match my foundation" plug in (that apparently no one cared to test before implementing) I ended up with a light/medium 2 sample card, which I am sure is way too dark for me (luckily, I also bought the light/medium set 1, and Lisa mentioned she is shade 11 so I hope that will work). I tried to have it swapped for light set 2, but it sold out very quickly and also (thanks to impatient american customers, who need their stuff delivered asap, so they don't get anxiety😈) we now can't make any changes to our orders, since there is no more pre-order system. Ah well... it was good while it lasted.
100% it's more than skin tone and even undertone! Maybe someday I'll buy some wigs (they're so expensive though) and contact lenses and see what happens - lol
